ECHL: Adirondack Thunder Add A Pair Of Defensmen

Adirondack Thunder Transactions Graphic

The Adirondack Thunder announced the signing of two more defenseman on Monday, adding Pierson Brandon and Ian Pierce. They both signed standard ECHL contracts and were born in New York City. I expect both players to make their pro debuts this weekend vs the Maine Mariners. Adirondack also released Elliott McDermott from ATO on Sunday. He signed with the team on March 20th. McDermott had one assist in five games with the Thunder.

Pierson Brandon Signs With Adirondack

The first Adirondack Signing on Monday was Pierson Brandon. The 23-year-old defenseman spent the last four seasons at the NCAA level. He spent his first four years at Colgate University before spending this past season at U-Mass Lowell. In 159 games, he put up 19 goals and 35 assists for 54 points and spent the last two seasons as a Captain. During his first year in the NCAA with Colgate, he was named to the All-Rookie Team, and he was named the best Defensive Defenseman as he put up 10 assists in 22 games. He would win an ECAC Championship with the Raiders in 2023 before heading to U-Mass Lowell. Pierson will join fellow teammate Henry Welsh as the second member of the River Hawks to sign with the Thunder.

Ian Pierce Signs With Adirondack Thunder

Pierce, 24, spent the last four seasons at Dartmouth College, where he put up nine goals and 31 assists for 40 points in 101 games. In his first season at Dartmouth, he would be tied for the team lead in goals (4). Before taking the NCAA route, he spent four seasons in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, where he put up eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points in 92 games. The New York City native will see a familiar face as he spent time with Pierson Brandon on the New Jersey Avalanche 16U AAA team.
