purchase event tickets through Ticket Master as I did when I saw Brett Michaels on Sunday in pyra that was
0:46
quite the uh how was that little thing it was it was great I saw him last year too yeah it was warrant firehouse and D
0:52
Snider from Twisted Sister I'll tell you what D Snider at 69 years old gets it
0:58
done has two back in the day I was a big Twisted Sister guy a fan of that played
1:05
his two bangers I want a rock that's good stuff right there I want a rock
1:10
yeah and um I am a I really like Firehouse a lot actually they're very
1:17
they have a new singer their singer passed in in April so they have a new singer who was an American Idol
1:23
contestant similar to like Adam Lambert yeah so he's young yeah but he has an
1:28
old school hair metal voice that you would is unassuming like he looks like an accountant you know I mean he looks like
1:35
just regular dude and then he fraking whales yeah I love it yeah it was really
1:42
he was really really good so that was a good concert and you can get tickets through Ticket Master I'm going to see
1:48
squeeze and Boy George in a couple of weeks so I'm on the concert tour right now good for you yeah getting after it
1:56
yeah getting after you can follow us each on X as well and we're also at Brewing Benders on X will'll be doing
2:02
game updates again this season uh but before we get to the chirps and and the
2:07
rest of the information here uh just our thoughts on Johnny hocky tragically
2:13
perished in that biking accident hit by an alleged drunk driver with his brother
2:18
Maddie uh two of them you know very revered in in the hockey world it was a stunner and a
2:25
shocker for sure and um you know just just incredibly sad really it's a rare
2:33
occurrence that an active player especially the stature of Johnny would would perish during you know during his
2:39
hockey career um fantastic player almost a point per game
2:45
player uh BC Eagles you know Legend So
2:51
New England certainly knows of Johnny hockey and and just you know by all accounts both of them both goodro just
2:58
terrific people yeah I this one hits close to home for me and a lot of these you know celebrity
3:08
people that have died over the years for some some particular reason or another you know it hits close to home for
3:14
certain people and this one hit close to it choked me up like I don't know if
3:19
it's the sudden passing um you know being a young father and and his and his
3:26
brother being a young a young father or something like that um but I my son
3:33
played hockey uh his whole life growing up uh and he was always one of the
3:38
smallest kids on the team and he became a BC fan uh because of Johnny GD because
3:45
of Johnny hockey so this one he was my son's favorite player going growing up I
3:50
mean he had a goodro Flames shirt he he was a big BC fan growing up so my son um
3:59
kind of really idolized him as being a smaller hockey player himself so this one uh this one really hit home for me
4:07
and it was incredibly sad terribly sad to um you know to hear the news and and
4:13
and see you know how shaking up his family was he was home for his sister's wedding I mean his his brother's wife is
4:22
pregnant with their with a child so there was just like one thing after another that just seemed like it made it
4:29
worse and worse just a senseless um you know tragedy uh to to happen to Johnny and
4:37
and Matthew so um you know our hearts really do go out to you know the Gad families um and you know the entire
4:44
hockey Community uh at large yes and and and today it was uh
4:51
Johnny's anniversary I believe and um so it was you know it was coming home for
4:57
the rehearsal dinner on their bikes and then the wedding the next day and uh just a a real
5:04
tragic happening and uh I'll tell you that and not just because of of this
5:09
happening Johnny was one of my favorite non non Bruins players in the league I mean he was a BC guy so we follow you
5:16
know big BC and bu hockey all the time and for what he did for BC and um scored
5:23
that great goal in National Championship to I it like just um you know was a he
5:29
he assisted on yaga's Final NHL goal there were a lot of Milestones
5:34
there that he had uh in his career um and he was on his way to a thousand points he was on his way maybe
5:41
to a Hall of Fame career I mean he was just a terrific player it it reminded me
5:46
a little bit of Pelle Lindberg when he when he died during his playing career
5:51
uh upand cominging player for the Flyers in goal back in 1985 you know just sort of a similar
5:58
kind of a just shock stunning uh you know event and um like you said you know
6:05
we we just uh send out condolences everybody in the hockey world because just everybody just seems to be really
6:10
shaken by it um and it's really really really just tragic and uh certainly cast
6:18
a PA over the beginning of the hockey season here um as we move forward so um
6:25
again rest in peace to Johnny and Maddie gadrow uh and Maddie you know a lot of
6:30
people said that you know Maddie was was Johnny's hero you know so he he was uh
6:35
it was just a you know the brothers the family very close and um just very very
6:42
sad just very very sad all right s chirps sponsored by lops Brewing lops is

7:05
Brewing all right trip number one we're into the top five prospects on the uh on
7:12
the Bruins Prospect list and number five is a defenseman who's climbing the charts we know that our buddy Robert
7:19
schmers loves this guy and it's Frederick brune who played in the queue good
7:26
offensive defenseman who's really come along playing with the Providence Bruins
7:31
now and is one step away from realizing maybe a career in the NHL and especially
7:39
when guys like Andrew Peak and parka wspoon with a year left to go like this
7:44
is a chance uh for brune maybe in the next year or two to really become an NHL
7:52
defenseman I think he will I think he will become an NHL defenseman and I think like you said he'll get his
7:58
opportunity in the next couple of years when uh you know the the water spoons and the Peaks uh probably move on and
8:05
the Bruins look for um you know a more cost effective guy on the back end
8:10
they're GNA have to pay Mason lowai here probably coming up uh in the near future
8:16
so you know I was looking for um some cap savings and he can certainly fill in
8:23
on the back end and you know he's a big kid uh can provide some offense um you
8:29
know that's one area where the Bruins D has kind of lacked they're they're solid defensively but offensively they don't
8:37
chip in as much as maybe some other teams do so um getting some more production from the back end from the
8:43
likes of makoy and Lowry and now possibly uh Jackson Edward would
8:50
certainly go a long way towards uh helping out for sure and then number
8:56
four is Brandon busy golender who's name has been baned about as the Jeremy Swan
9:02
situation continues on and with Unis caalo not you're not really knowing what
9:08
you're GNA get from him busy has one more year now he he signed for one more
9:14
year it seems to see what they're going to get out of him and you know uh busy
9:20
could be kind of thrown into the mix here at some point either through injury or if the swayman thing ends up being a
9:25
hold out could see busy with the big Club absolutely could see him with the big
9:32
Club I I think uh you know he's right there on the edge you know if there's an injury or uh you know Corp pasalo you
9:39
know they said that he'll have to win the job kind of so if he's um doesn't
9:44
live up to you know being an NHL caliber goalie which you know last year he kind
9:50
of struggled um you know I think busy can certainly slide in there if he's
9:55
playing well to the backup role in the NHL and um you know give himself some
10:01
some time in the league and and hopefully you know solidify position for himself up there yeah so it'll be
10:08
Michael D petro and Brandon busy and we'll see if either one of them gets a shot with the Bruins anytime soon number
10:17
three is sixth round pick Riley Duran who is really climbing the charts Duran
10:24
was a Providence frier had a good career with them but is really come on strong
10:30
and really sort of jumped a few people in the list he's now in the top three in
10:35
our list and he has a legitimate chance here in Camp to at least kind of you
10:42
know leave a mark and see if he can get on the roster this season all the way
10:47
down from the sixth round he sort of come out of nowhere he's really developed and it's been a great pick
10:54
he's from wubber he's a local guy which you know Don Sweeny and the Bruins love MH uh so Durant has a chance now though
11:02
I mean there's a lot of bottom six candidates it's kind of a log Jam there but maybe Duran can kind of wiggle his
11:09
way through they love the way he plays you know gets to the net can can score goals and and plays a really good tough
11:17
style of hockey that they like so maybe he does yeah I think that's what the
11:23
what his key uh to getting to the NHL will be is his style of play he plays a tough Style a physical style and in
11:30
yourface style uh as well as he's got tremendous speed and um you know a
11:36
compete where he's going to take the puck to the net he's not going to be denied he's going to get to the dirty areas and and do all the little things
11:44
that you would want in a bottom six forward and I think um you know with the Bruins maybe questionable speed I think
11:51
he's that's certainly something that he could add to the team um you know along with beer and and maybe a couple others
11:58
but uh overall the brues team speed is a little bit lacking so that's that's an area where he could certainly help out
12:04
and and his style of play um would fit nicely in this area I think fans will love him um you know being a local kid
12:11
and then the way that he plays I think will endear himself to uh to the Boston Bruins fans so uh I definitely think you
12:19
know he's got a spot maybe not this year uh unless there's some injuries but but
12:24
definitely in the next few years I I I feel like he'll be uh on the on the roster on the at the NHL level all right
12:32
the top two of are sort of interchangeable some people disagree on who's two and who's one we have number
12:39
two is Fabian lysel the right winger 21st overall pick in the first round
12:47
tremendous skill you know tremendous uh you know offensive ability has had some
12:53
injury issues some concussion issues uh has been up and down at times
12:58
but toward the end of last year started to kind of find his way especially defensively which he's going to have to
13:05
do to play with the Bruins because they just they want you to play defense all
13:10
the way through the lineup uh lysel has a chance here as good a chances he ever
13:16
has uh to get that second line right wing spot with a really good camp I mean he's the guy really ideally that should
13:24
take that and run with it um but will it be merkulov will it be lysel you know
13:31
we'll see but lysel really needs to make you know some real strides this year I
13:38
mean this year he has to get at least a taste of the NHL in my opinion yeah I
13:44
think that's you know he needs to make an impression he needs to to uh open some eyes of the of the brass in Boston
13:52
and and you know I think if he hadn't had some injury history and some injury
13:57
problems I think last year he might have gotten a look uh in the second half of the year but um you know he had a little
14:04
some injury problems and that's been the case for most of his career he's had some concussion problems and some injury
14:09
problems being a smaller guy he's got to figure out a way to kind of avoid that stuff whether it's you know positioning
14:17
himself better to take a hit or not putting himself in vulnerable positions to get hit um but he's going to need to
14:25
learn that if he's going to if he's going to play at the NHL level to in in order to you know have a sustained
14:32
career because if he's in and out of the lineup it's it's really hard to develop that consistency that you need to kind
14:39
of stay on the NHL roster if he's you know bouncing back and forth between the injured list and and so forth so um
14:47
here's hoping that he takes the spot he is skilled the Bruins definitely could use some more goal scores and and some
14:53
more skill and playmaking ability so um I hope that he can grab that that uh
14:59
that spot and um you know run with it and then number one a guy that that
15:05
Smitty thinks may not be with the organization very much longer yeah yeah Georgie Georgie
15:12
merkulov uh is you know probably the candidate if he has a really good camp
15:19
he should probably break camp with the team and be on a wing uh in the top six
15:25
with the Bruins but we'll see if he can do it especially defensively last season had four games
15:33
about six minutes a game didn't really go well they did score 30 goals with the
15:39
Providence Bruins in the AHL but you know merkulov there's been whispers about him talking with KHL
15:46
teams and planning kind of an exit strategy at some point people seem to think it's later on down the road but I
15:53
think you make a good point where you know what if he doesn't make the team out of camp this could be his exit
16:01
strategy this could be him kind of looking forward and saying hey I'm not doing another season in the AHL I'll go
16:07
to the KHL prove my worth and maybe try it again some other time and I think
16:13
that that's actually it makes some sense yeah I I I honestly I mean I hope
16:21
I hope that he um makes the Bruins and is with the Bruins because I do think he's talented I do think he could add to
16:28
the to the team I don't think that he got a a fair shot last year six minutes
16:33
a game for a guy of his ability and you know playmaking style and and the style
16:40
of his game he's not a bottom six Winger he's a top you know he's a top six
16:46
Winger he needs to play more he needs to touch the puck he needs to be able to make plays and and you know have the
16:53
same I mean they're not going to give him the same leeway that they give Pano with with turning the puck over with his
16:59
creativity but he needs to be he needs to be allowed to be creative and make mistakes with the puck and to in order
17:06
to try to make plays and score goals so um I I didn't think he got a fair shot I
17:12
do think that if he does not make the team out of Camp I think he will go he's 24 years old he's not you know a 21 year
17:18
old um I think the money is better in the KHL than it is in the AHL uh you know in Providence so I I
17:27
really do think that if he does not make the Bruins he's going to leave I really do I think it's possible and not enough
17:34
people I don't think people are really kind of talking about it maybe they just don't want to talk it into existence but I think that I just don't I find it hard
17:42
to believe that you would talk to KHL teams about something that's going to happen four five six years down the road
17:47
right now I just don't I don't buy that I don't know why where that comes from look I don't want him to leave either
17:53
and I don't I think at the end of the day he doesn't but I think he's looking at his
17:59
options folks and if he doesn't if he gets kind of jerked around like he did
18:05
last year then maybe maybe he goes back to Russia for at least a little bit and
18:10
maybe makes a return later like uh like what's his face there kuk and those guys
18:15
that kind of leave and then come back and who was the other dude for the Stars you know those rilov you know guys like
18:22
that to just kind of come and go maybe he's that type of guy I don't know he's almost 25 he did just come back from
18:28
Colorado who was skating with Matt mitchoff with the Flyers MH um and now
18:35
he's ready to kind of make a stamp on Camp Ryan Mel was talking about his defense it was getting better last year
18:42
which is a big issue obviously I don't think he'd I think I don't think he'll play center if he makes the team uh I
18:50
think he'll play Wing hopefully second line Wing but I've been saying this since Ryan Donado played here like you
18:57
can't put guys with a certain skill set in the fourth line and expect it to work out like you just said like I've I've
19:04
always said that like yeah certain guys have a certain makeup you can't just throw him on the fourth line with a
19:09
couple of hammerheads right like it's just not gonna work it's just not gonna work because he's not going to produce when he's used to producing and that's
19:16
where his worth is is producing right so I don't I don't believe in that yeah
19:21
just get him in the lineup just throw them in the fourth line no that doesn't it doesn't work that way so we'll see
19:28
what happens with with merul love um it'll be interesting but he's the number one prospect on the Bruins
19:34
brenders Prospect list so hopefully they don't lose him because that would be a
19:39
real stunner a team that can't afford to lose again they're 32nd Again by the athletic yeah uh they've been in that
19:46
hole for a while although they did have three prospects make the you know make the team and actually contribute some
19:52
last year so God knows you know you can make the argument of what that list
19:57
really means if if people are coming up and making the roster MH you know how are they 32nd if they get three guys
20:04
last year make the roster and actually contribute so yeah that's that's a solid
20:11
Point yeah they they've had some guys that they've drafted and and and developed that you know I I I'm not sure
20:18
why they were so low but you know I I guess other teams are drafting
20:24
developing more guys I suppose is really only the only to that maybe that's it I
20:30
maybe I have to look and see I don't know um we'll see uh there was some
20:36
breaking news on the on the on the X but I guess it's being uh debunked some
20:42
Milan Lich was reportedly signing a PTO with the New Jersey Devils according to Bob stoer of
20:50
Oilers now although Bob never tweeted it out other people had on his behalf well
20:56
now I'm seeing C categorically untrue from the Devils his situation lies with
21:02
the league we haven't and couldn't sign him to a PTO apparently stoer corrected
21:09
on this later in the day so the league hasn't okayed him to play so I think the
21:15
Devils may be interested but there's no actual signing of the PTO so you're
21:21
getting that right now from the Devils on the potential Milan Luchi PTO signing
21:29
yeah Mak sense it does make sense I mean if he's going to be you know suspended
21:34
or have to deal with some kind of discipline for um what took place here
21:39
in Boston with the domestic um you know violence accusations and and you know so
21:44
forth he's he's uh he's gonna have to go through the league you know office
21:51
before he can get reinstated to you know sign a contract with any team so um I
21:59
think New Jersey's probably like you said they're probably interested um but
22:04
he's got to go through the proper channels before that deal uh can be worked out sure since we're going live
22:10
so often now this coming year we need a breaker we need a breaker Sounder yeah
22:16
we need that whole production so we're gonna work on that breaking news breaker
22:21
breaker breaker One n all right chirp number two Tyler Johnson signs a PTO
22:29
with the Boston Bruins 34y old who's been a really good goal scorer in the
22:34
league uh a Cup winner twice with the Tampa Bay Lightning played last year
22:40
with the Chicago Blackhawks and had 17 goals on a bad team um he's he's he was
22:47
an undrafted free agent he's 58 185 pounds this guy in my opinion is
22:53
insurance if the aformentioned merkulov and lysel do not pin out I 100%
23:01
agree and that's the way that it should be I I don't want to see him uh get the
23:06
job I want to see merul laavo lysel get the job but if both of those guys do not
23:13
rise to the level that they need to rise to to play in the NHL on a regular basis then I don't have any problem with Tyler
23:19
Johnson coming in and taking that job in that spot I think he will um score some
23:26
goals I think he's been uh pretty reliable player overall as far as
23:32
production goes I don't think he's the greatest defensively um but he does have the Stanley Cup pedigree he's a winner
23:39
he's won you know two cups um big part of some of those Tampa Bay cups so um
23:45
you know not a bad signing not a bad signing at all um you know for for a little
23:52
Insurance yeah and I I think that's I think that's 100%
24:01
sorry about that he could certainly help out the team um in some way especially on a team
24:08
like the Bruins where you know it's a veteran club for the most part and you
24:14
know I think you'd fit in well and I think it's going to be an interesting an interesting candidate if he has a pretty
24:21
good camp they may sign him anyway you know they might just s to add him on and
24:27
um I kind of like this better than wheeler and Yamamoto and I'm not sure why like I
24:33
just I mean Johnson has the pedigree you know he knows how to play he knows how to win and those types of things maybe
24:40
that's it but I just feel like it's a safer move or maybe even not only not
24:46
just safer maybe that's not the word it's more of a um I don't know just kind of a better
24:54
fit than those two other guys are in Johnson because I think he brings those
25:01
intangibles yeah I I could see that I mean I I think he I think he will bring the I think he has the intangibles maybe
25:08
over the other guys as far just because he he's won before so yeah he has and he
25:13
you know he like I said he had 17 goals last year he can you know goal scorers score you know he can score goals and
25:20
you know if he's on that second line you know I don't know how how in love I I'd be with you know 35 32 and 34 on the
25:29
second line yeah but you know you know stranger
25:34
things have happened yeah maybe they maybe they develop some you know middle-aged you know Dad yeah the middle
25:41
are they gonna go with the uh dad bod line or what is that yeah sure sure
25:47
middle-aged M mid midlife crisis line oh I think I think we bang those those shirts right uh Snow White and the two
25:55
dwarfs Charlie Coyle and the two the two dwarfs two dwars yeah Chuck and
26:02
the two dwar dwars yeah yeah Chuck and the two dwars six 64 and and then
26:09
five five seven yeah I think Maran probably tell you he's five9 but that's
26:15
he's like 57 face lie he's a he's he's no he's he's not taller than me and I'm
26:21
5'6 and a half I bet he's my height well you throw Gates on it adds a couple
26:27
inches yeah it does that's so so they say chirp three Frank sarelli says that
26:34
Jeremy Swan is not at $10 million more like8 to 8 and a half and the Bruins are
26:39
at six to six and a half and then we heard the spit and chicklets crew yeah say that swayan was that the Bruins
26:46
offered San four years at 6.2 per year yeah so and we've kind of targeted the
26:53
shorter term thing so that makes sense to me but boy 6.2 seems like a midle
26:59
finger it really does Jeremy San to say you know pump the brakes big fella yeah
27:05
uh stop talking uh and then Brad marshan comes out and says I don't talk about
27:11
contracts because of the respect that both sides have for each other which I thought was kind of pointed at Swan it I
27:19
mean how do you say that without having swan in mind like Swan's been in the media sure the Bruins haven't been in
27:24
the media but they've been feeding people things yeah but San came right out in the media and was talking about
27:30
how he's a you know main business grad and all this other crap MH so at this
27:35
point again and I said it last week I'm I'm I'm really losing favor in
27:43
swayan because I think this is going on a little bit too far A little bit too
27:48
dramatic and i' and I've had about enough for the whole arbitration they screwed me thing in the resentment and
27:56
all that stuff I just have having a hard time with it now yeah I'm I'm I'm with you to a
28:03
certain extent um I was especially with you when I thought he was asking for 10 million but if he's if he's asking for
28:11
eight and a half I mean that's what we thought he would sign for right that's what I had eight eight so the Bruins
28:18
offering 6.2 is kind of a slap in the face if I was swinging I'd be pissed my
28:23
my thing is why can't why can we not get a deal done like if if the Bruins are
28:28
offering 6.2 and he wants eight and a half why can we not get a deal done why why I I think I think that's contract
28:37
for eight times 7.74 if want a shorter term deal give him give him four times
28:45
7.75 of 100K more than Saros and you get the short-term deal you can if you prove
28:53
you're a number one guy in the next four years then you get to sign a big money
28:58
deal when the cap goes up everybody wins what's the [ __ ] hold
29:03
up I still believe my theory that Swan wants a shorter term
29:11
deal I still believe that he wants three or four years so I think they offered him four at 6.2 and said screw you and I
29:19
think he wants four at eight eight and a half yeah that's what I think yeah and I think that that's where the problem is I
29:25
don't think he wants eight years I think they'll give him eight or and a half if he takes eight years yeah but he's not
29:31
he doesn't want to so I think that they offered him four times 6.2 to say that
29:37
no this is what this is valued at now if it's an eight-year deal then it's valued
29:43
at eight or eight and a half because when the cap goes up you know eight years from now it's eight and a half is
29:48
like 6.2 now right so that's what I think that's what I've always thought
29:54
that Swan wants a lesser term deal because he can strike lightning again at
29:59
28 29 years old four years from now and get another big deal at maybe 10 if he's
30:05
really good sure yeah I I think he could do that but I I don't understand why the Bruins just don't go and give him SOS
30:13
money on the shorter term deal like what what's the what's the problem what's the problem I think their problem is is that
30:19
they're like screw you I think their problem is is that they're a little pissed off about it because they
30:27
did him a solid by only signing onee deal in that arbitration thing sure so they they did
30:32
him a solid and said yes Sweeney even said the words we know he's really good
30:37
and we know we're gonna have to pay next year but we're gonna do one year because
30:44
they had to yeah like they had to or they would have had to trade somebody like they had
30:51
to and they already had a $5 million goal tender so they had to do that for
30:56
one year so what that's what I don't get is why doesn't swayan just I mean to me
31:03
I would understand that as a player that wants to be with the Bruins and really cares about the Bruins well if I if I if
31:10
those words were true then I would be okay with yeah give me three and a half
31:15
for a one-year deal and then we'll then we'll you know we'll talk numbers the next year fine and I wouldn't be so bent
31:23
out of shape about the arbitration thing like this is this is what pisses me off
31:29
about it yeah and I like Swan and I say give him the money like give him eight
31:34
eight and a half I say give him SE yeah give him Saros money for four years sure
31:40
but I think the Bruins are like wait a minute we I you know we don't want to start this trend of people are going to
31:47
dictate what they want you know what I mean so I think that that's probably what it was as part of the negotiation
31:54
like okay you only want four years you don't want to commit to us more than four years then we're going to give you
32:01
this where so where do you think it it ends up at I think it ends up like four
32:06
time seven you so you're kind of in the middle of where they're at yeah I think they'll they'll meet at like seven and I
32:13
think it'll be four years and I think four just like I said last week four years from now bye-bye yeah he's not
32:21
gonna be here he's not going to be here this is going to fracture that completely like I I think that people
32:28
estimated how irritated Swan was and how far he would take this and now how much
32:36
it would piss nearly off yeah yeah you're talking about some
32:41
hard-headed guys there you know didn't didn't have the uh reputation for having
32:48
the uh you know a patient guy that you know was very levelheaded on the ice he
32:54
fires water bottles off of off of his staff skulls yeah on the ninth floor I
33:01
know like come on that's what I'm saying is he's he doesn't have the reputation as being the you know the calmest most
33:07
patient guy so I feel like um you know you have two sides Swan's agent another
33:12
guy who um you know kind of digs his heels in and and wants to uh get every
33:18
last dollar for swimming which is you know what he's trying to do the best job he can for his client but it it doesn't
33:23
really endear him or Swan to the Bruins and Bruins management so you have a situation now where both sides are kind
33:30
of dug in and both sides are you know uh we want this and you know we don't want
33:35
to take that we don't want to accept that so it could lead to a fracture I think the only thing I will say is that
33:42
in four years of sway PR he's worth it uh and the Bruins say yeah we'll pay you
33:48
um that he would stay if the Bruins would at that time give him you know a $10 million deal or 11 million or
33:54
whatever it is you know if the Bruins aside they'll pay him he'll stay um but if you know he's he's wanting to
34:01
maximize his money uh in years and and whatever and the Bruins don't want to do it he certainly will leave 100% yeah I I
34:09
look and we were both kind of apprehensive like everybody seemed to be like this Deal's gonna get done baby
34:17
like everything's fine like I'm telling you no like no like like even if it does get
34:25
done which I think it probably will but it's going to be at lesser term it's going to be at whatever number they come
34:32
up with and then that's going you're going to get four more years of Jeremy San and then it's over like like he's
34:40
not going to stand further than this because he's got such a hair across his ass now the Bruins have one so now you
34:47
know this is this this [ __ ] doesn't just go over lightly like this that no one
34:53
forgets like no the only thing the only thing at this point that can all of that
34:59
uh is winning if he wins the cup here is winning that's the only thing that if he wins the cup here it could change at all
35:04
sure 100% is winning or gets fired yeah or gets fired uh so there I mean there's
35:10
pressure on kind of both sides Swan's saying I'm a number one guy the Bruin is saying H not so fast you haven't really
35:16
proven that yet uh so you have both sides kind of saying you know show me
35:23
what you can do show me show me show me show me the look look
35:28
6.2 is low it is like it's a kick in the nuts like it's it's it's like I mean who
35:34
the [ __ ] makes sorry John who the [ __ ] makes 6.2 like seriously yeah like like
35:40
like for God's sakes like that's not a lot no is a league make more than 6.2
35:45
yes 6.2 like okay like that's basically them saying stop talking on the media
35:52
stop badmouthing us yeah because I don't believe there's any real reason to badmouth the Bruins and believe me I'll
35:59
be the first yeah to go I mean I lived a
36:04
long life as a Bruins fan where they didn't spend a dime I lived through Harry cinden and I live through all of
36:10
it like Dave Lewis I I I live through all of it and believe me those cheap
36:20
bastards like seriously back in the day cheap now they spend money like they
36:27
spent money yeah they spent money on poso and makoy and even back to rasque
36:32
and Cree when when they were making 7 million when nobody else was like they spent the money like stop stop with that
36:39
so I I don't blame the Bruins for this at all to be honest with you the only thing I blame the Bruins on is not just
36:46
picking the guy early on and saying okay this is who who we're going with they
36:51
they did this you know we're going to rotate rotate rotate try to keep both guys until the end and then trade El
36:58
Mark in a trade that was kind of clunky in a weird timing and I think they
37:04
underestimated what San was gonna do to hold him over a barrel I think I think
37:09
they did like because I I would have just kept elar this year I just would
37:14
have kept him and then tried this negotiation with San because if this is all he's getting I would have just kept
37:21
allmark right that's my problem with it is not necessarily that they were you
37:27
know platooning the guys or anything like that it's the way they handled the elar trade uh and the San negotiations
37:34
kind of in reverse order like if you're gonna if you're gonna trade the guy get Swan's deal done first so you don't lose
37:42
all your leverage then trade all Mark if you want to you know if you if you really need to get the five million off
37:48
your books then do it at that point but they did it kind of backwards and it kind of blew up on them and I didn't
37:54
love the way they handled all that stuff but but the you know Swan's you know
38:01
trying to uh hold out for the every last dollar when he he's mentioning these
38:07
comparables that where he's been splitting time is I I just I I never saw
38:13
that really from the beginning I thought he was kind of misguided and and misjudging kind of the market as far as
38:20
that goes um but you know we'll see how it all shakes out I think it will
38:25
eventually get done and um like you said uh when the four years or however long
38:30
the contract is when it whenever that's up um you know the the you're gonna have
38:36
to pay the piper the Bruins are gonna have to pay the piper at that point and if they don't want to he's gone I yeah I
38:44
I I this is um it's just just not lovey-dovey like I don't I don't know
38:50
like I just this isn't I I think it could be a hold out I really could be I I think it can be because this is now
38:57
like this is like shots fired like you're hearing now now this is the agent
39:02
for swayman obviously throwing out this number because the Bruins wouldn't so the agent for San is saying okay
39:09
everybody's bitching that we're asking for 10 well they gave us 6.2 right like this this is totally
39:15
totally the agent responding totally so yeah and then and then they said uh that
39:21
uh uh Whitney on spitting chicklets reported that um the Bruins haven't
39:28
returned Swan's calls for three weeks right so you know it's clearly coming from Swan's camp and uh you know so
39:36
there is there is people dug in on both sides and like I said I I do think it will get done but you know I said all
39:44
along I thought it was gonna go right up to the start of camp or maybe into Camp before it gets finished y it's going
39:50
into Camp I mean I mean they're going to show up on the 18th two weeks from today
39:55
like it's going to be done within two weeks no I don't believe so I think that's 8020 I think you go to draftking
40:01
Sportsbook right now and you throw some money on no it's not happening by September 18th telling you all right
40:09
what is happening by September 18th is chirp number four Leon drle resigns at
40:15
eight years $14 million per year that's what a uh an elite Center makes baby do
40:23
you feel better now about the Elias linhome deal no I don't can we stop comparing Elias
40:31
lyol to all these other great players yeah had one good season dry Sidle has
40:38
had many many many many Good Seasons uh you know so uh Lind holm's production is
40:45
not anywhere close to dry sidles if if Lind Hol was producing like dry cidal
40:50
produce um I would I would be thrilled first contract I would be thrilled that he you know the Bruins gave
40:57
a big money deal um but at this point you know dry saddle stays uh the rumors
41:03
of him coming to Boston when his contract was up or over which is a sad day for me and all the other Bruins fans
41:12
who uh had a thin thin sliver of hope that maybe some way somehow the Bruins
41:18
could uh pry him away uh from Edmonton but uh that is not going to
41:24
happen and uh he's going to be with uh McDavid now for a long long time or
41:31
could we turn our attention to to getting McDavid right he's up after next year well now it's gonna be McDavid
41:37
coming to Boston right yeah right he's uh he's up after next year so he's probably gonna get uh eight times 15 I
41:44
would think or 16 or 20 who the [ __ ] knows I don't know I don't know I don't know I mean do they do they deal dariell
41:50
nurse there there's rumors going around that the salary cap will be 92 next year
41:55
so up four million so up four million yeah so I mean dryel at 14 McDavid at 15
42:03
16 that's 30 million bucks that's like a third of the yeah like a third of your cap I mean and then throw nurse in there
42:10
at almost 10 yeah I mean they they would love I I mean I think they would love to get out of nurse's contract oh my God so
42:16
would I yeah I think they would love to get out of that contract they won't uh unless some idiot team comes in and and
42:25
uh you know they yeah C team yeah capit team where they Bowl him over giving picks away with nurse or something or
42:32
eat a bunch of that money uh I don't know how it'll happen exactly but you know they're they're hamstrung with that
42:38
one for for a while hey folks just a reminder go ahead and throw some comments in there we'll discuss it later
42:45
in the show we love the comments totally an interactive situation here CH five
42:51
Brad Marian mentions that he got three surgeries even though the team said there were no planned surgeries after the offseason but he had three surgeries
42:58
an elbow there was a groin groin and a hernia sports hernia um
43:06
so first of all um he performed really well with all those injuries plus the
43:12
two repaired hips I mean there's a lot going on there still performed really well even into the playoffs so now do
43:21
you feel like do you feel even better that he could have a really real Good
43:27
Year here I I feel good about about his year I
43:34
don't know about really really good um I do think maybe the elbow kind of held
43:40
him back from some of the stick handling and Puck possession things that he was really good at that um this past season
43:48
kind of slipped a little bit with him you know he seemed to lose the puck a little more just like it seemed unlike
43:54
him and maybe the elbow was a reason for that so I I feel like maybe that comes
44:00
back to his game his speed you know I mean he's getting up there his his speed's gonna come down a little bit you
44:07
know it's just father times catching up with them a little bit so um can he
44:13
still be a really really good Winger yes will he be a top 10 Winger in the game
44:20
and Elite Winger I don't think he those years are are there for him anymore I
44:25
don't think he's he he can do that at you know 34 35 years old I think he'll
44:31
still be really good but I just don't think he's going to be like an elite Allstar you know top five 10 Winger in
44:38
the game like he has been you know the three or four years previous yeah I and I agree I I think
44:45
he'll have a pretty good year I I do think he obviously he's aging so that's a big deal it does though explain the
44:54
fact that his Puck possession just didn't seem the same his Puck winning also didn't seem the same and he win
45:00
pucks get underneath guys win pucks all the time and then this past year it just didn't seem to happen as much um but hey
45:08
he he he's gonna play with Cole he talked about playing with Charlie Coyle at least at the start of the year and
45:14
then a second line right winger um you know maybe that helps aell or or Mula
45:21
playing with those two guys who are very defensively responsible now he did say he made com ments about this is what we
45:28
want from the right winger they have to be able to play responsible defensively he even mentioned early on in his career
45:36
that he was trying to do too much with the puck in that he wasn't really
45:41
dedicating himself to defense you know defense he thought that putting points
45:47
up was the thing that was going to jump you know jump off the page with him and
45:53
if you remember correctly his first 20 games I don't think he had a point no like he he was a grinder and a you know
46:01
just not not someone sort of on the map as someone who's going to be like this really great scorer and point getter
46:08
like he is more of a bottom six type grinder type player and then turned
46:14
himself into a great offensive player but you know he he mentioned and it seemed to be that he was kind of talking
46:22
to the younger guys like this is what we need from you so I don't know it'll be
46:27
interesting to see if if merkulov or lysel can take that spot and I think it will help them to play with guys like Co
46:35
and Maria yeah I think so and I I think that when that line the the berson Maran
46:43
POS knock line or you know berson and Marian just as a Duo when they were really clicking it was like a defense
46:51
the offense thing like they would make a force a force a bad play get a steal you know quick transition two-on-one or or
46:58
whatever it was and then a goal like their their offense came because they were responsible defensively so I think
47:06
if if some of the young guys kind of focus on that and forcing turnovers and doing things the right way you know the
47:13
offense will come if you if you have skill and you can put yourself in the right positions Around the Net in the
47:19
offensive zone to to make plays and and and be there as an outlet for you know
47:25
Coyle and Martian you know I think they can put points up just simply by doing the right things on the ice and being in
47:31
the right spots yes for sure and uh I think both of them lysel and merula have
47:37
learned something last year I thought that Ryan mujan was you know pretty much
47:42
on them about it and it made them a little bit better at it so hopefully that prepares them for this training
47:49
camp here trip six captains practice was well attended upwards of 30 or some odd
47:54
players there um you had some thoughts on a few you know they uh Nikita zidor
48:03
was not there uh Charlie mckoy talked about him and potentially playing with him talked about he kind of adds another
48:09
devention and he made a comment which we've been talking about is that sidorov
48:14
adds something to the mix that they didn't have on the defensive Corp and it
48:20
kind of makes them more complete which I thought it was something that we agree with and I thought it was a good point
48:25
from maoy yeah I would agree with that and I think H actually zadorov was was there today
48:31
maybe not th um but he was there today right um so yeah I I I love the fact
48:38
that they've gotten a bunch of the guys especially guys that are new to the team to come in and participate uh just to
48:43
get to know each other and and you know get get some Kinks ironed out and and
48:49
you know start to build that team camaraderie and team chemistry I think that's great and I and I do think the
48:56
point by is a good one that you know they they could use more of the
49:02
nastiness that zadorov brings and the size and the hitting and the keep your head up and and all that stuff and I
49:08
does I do think that it makes them a more complete unit he also did say now that he's the smallest guy uh among the
49:15
decor which is OD as a as a guy one who's you know fairly stocky guy built
49:23
like a like a you know a fire hydrant tank kind of a guy um being the smallest
49:28
one but um it just goes to show what the Bruins are really kind of focusing on the back end um you know what kind of
49:37
ailed them in some of their matchups against you know St Louis in the cop
49:42
finals there St Louis D kind of just chewed up the Bruins forwards and and punished them and pounded them and uh
49:49
and then you know Big D cores like Tampa Bay and and you know Florida has a you
49:54
know kind of a big team overall with uh hitting and so forth but um yeah they're
50:00
kind of uh trying to um bulk up and and build up that back end so that they can
50:07
uh withstand some of those um playoff series against some of those um you know really complete teams in the East you
50:14
know the guy that I think might be this year's Morgan geeky is Max Jones he he had a goal in the first day sprung by
50:22
Brett Harrison uh back from the dead yeah uh
50:27
but Brett Harrison who actually had a decent end of the year last year he actually scored a couple of goals in the
50:32
playoff series you know people are kind of looking to him to maybe you know
50:38
let's be honest should have get off the pot time for you know for Brett Harrison
50:43
but Max Jones has some has some speed has some size you know he's a he's a guy
50:50
who's had ability you know he might be like a geeky where he comes in and
50:57
in improves and produces a little bit and I'm he's an intriguing player anyway
51:03
for the Bruins yeah I like I like what he has the possibility to offer um I
51:11
think similar to a a garnet Hathaway type maybe without the resume um my only
51:17
problem with guys like this that um are build as guys that come in and hit and
51:24
fly around is that's not the Bruin St no so unless you know
51:31
Montgomery either changes ta tactics or allows a little more leeway with some of
51:37
these guys to go in and finish hits and and kind of just rupt and get in there
51:44
and mix things up and um it's just not how they play I I thought I loved the
51:50
halfway signing at the time and he just didn't fit here he just wasn't a good fit they he didn't fit really the way
51:57
they played and he was kind of useless he was he didn't he didn't really do much of anything he didn't I was
52:04
disappointed he goes to a team like the Flyers and the Flyers play you know a different style a more aggressive style
52:10
I I think Florida plays a more aggressive style like yeah I would like to
52:16
see uh Bruins management Montgomery specifically let some of these guys play
52:22
how they play let them get in on the 4 check and bang bodies and make defensemen afraid to go back and
52:28
retrieve pucks you know and be a little more aggressive on the for check to cause turnovers in the defensive Zone
52:35
rather than in the neutral zone you know so that it's you know a neutral zone then you got to get the puck back in and
52:42
deep and blah blah blah like let's create turnovers you know below the goal
52:47
line in the offensive zone and right Bo to the net and and that thing so I I'm
52:52
excited for it but cautiously excited because I want to see them cut loose in
52:58
Montgomery to allow those guys to really play their own style H how they've kind
53:05
of made it to the league and and you know what's gotten them to this point uh so that they can really you know kind of
53:11
Blossom you know I've said this from the beginning like it's you know you can't say you know we're not we're not heavy
53:17
enough we're not physical enough let's go get one guy let's go get Hathaway let's go get Nick Richie let's go get
53:23
Nick Felino let's get mark celik Cuz one guy who's going to play 10 minutes
53:28
doesn't change anything it's how you play in the makeup and culture of the
53:35
team and that's really what needs to change so as your old guard you know
53:41
starts to move on like marand and C's gone now and berson's gone and I guess
53:47
that style worked for them you know but maybe now with these younger guys Duran
53:53
and kunar and guys who can hunt pucks and and play that way Max Jones like
53:59
maybe now it's time to start changing that and saying okay let's play this way now and you can do that with some of the
54:07
Personnel you bring in you know especially the younger guys and then add some other guys and then now you're
54:13
playing that style rather than saying one guy at the deadline's not going to freaking help your heaviness problem
54:21
yeah I think they should play to the to the style and identity of their guys like don't don't necessarily say you
54:28
know this is Bruins hockey you have to fit into this mold you have to play this style we we trap we do this um you know
54:37
we force turnovers in the neutral zone we you know cause teams to come slowly
54:43
through the neutral zone whatever the case may be like tailor the tailor the
54:49
system to the talent you have like what good is it if like you have a guy who can you know in football sense guy who
54:56
can catch all these passes and all you do is run him up the middle you know he's a receiving guy but you're not
55:02
throwing him the ball like so you're not utilizing him to his strengths like same with these guys like if their strength
55:08
is speed and hitting and getting in on the four check and then you're saying well once the other team gets possession
55:14
of the puck we should just back off and let them come out and we'll try to create a turnover or slow them down like
55:20
that's not playing to the strengths of these guys and what they can do let them play how they play
55:26
let them play how they play I I I'm 100%
55:32
on you like that's the problem with some of the players that come in here is that they just don't fit the system and it
55:38
don't don't it doesn't work like you know maybe someone like lysel would work
55:44
better if he's hunting pucks and he's for checking and he's you know creating some Steals and things you know maybe
55:50
that maybe that helps you know who knows I don't know like what if Max Jones comes in here and can't do much Johnny
55:57
beer is a guy is an example Johnny beer should be out just chasing people down
56:03
yeah and just and just being a pain in the balls like just being he's fast he's big you know he can score a little bit
56:10
he has a little bit of hands like that's a guy similar to Max Jones those two guys would really benefit from playing a
56:18
heavier for checking type of style yeah turn him loose that's what I'm saying turn him loose if you want and here's
56:25
another thing and I don't know how I'm not a hockey coach so I don't know but um I feel like you could you should be
56:32
able to play like a different style with your third and fourth line then you I think so too I mean it's not like those
56:38
guys always you know if you're changing occasionally yeah they may need to know the system of the of top two lines call
56:46
it you know this is a it's more of a puck possession game or whatever it is
56:51
but you know those bottom six guys [ __ ] cut them loose sorry John let them f get after it yeah cic Jones Beast
57:00
Catholic Jones should be just a menace yes you know4 they're all fast they're all you
57:08
know big you know get in [ __ ] people's faces be the New York Islanders
57:13
line of you know cekus and Martin and yeah you know be that and right be a
57:21
[ __ ] Menace right right you know and and then if you want to play a different Style with your top two lines go ahead
57:28
but let the bottom six guys just cause Havoc let them right let them just be a
57:34
pain in the ass to everybody that's what I'm saying that's all I'm saying yeah we have no problem being
57:40
that a strip seven rookie Camp is a week away yes uh who are you interested in
57:49
seeing uh definitely Mr lerno yes who was on the third line today for Boston
57:55
College practice yes uh he was a third line left wing yeah in practice he's in
58:01
a in he's in a in which I which I which I like and I feel like um I want to see
58:07
how he stands up to good competition because now he's now at BC and in this
58:13
development Camp he's gonna get some good competition uh where he played uh previously in high school or junior or
58:21
whever it was was not great competition so you know as a get getting a step up
58:26
in competition level like how is he going to respond to that is he an over his head does he look like a fish out of
58:33
water is he going to thrive is he gonna rise his level um so that's definitely
58:38
someone I'm looking at um and then some of these you know some of these you know
58:43
your Christopher Pelosi and guys like that who you know we've heard good things about you know I want to see
58:50
those guys kind of take a not necessarily a step because they're still
58:55
you know still young still developing but I want to see how they you know handle this whole thing you know I think
59:01
Pelosi now this maybe is his second development Camp so as kind of a veteran of that you know do you do you play a
59:08
little better than you did last year were you you know can you improve on on what you did can you be a leader to the
59:14
new guys you know things like that I want to see some of those secondy Year guys that have that have come to
59:20
development camp now uh kind of lead and take charge of that group and and then I
59:25
want see them compete I want you know compete try to win um right you know if
59:31
you're on if you're on the ice and they're keeping score try to win games so don't go up there and say oh you know
59:37
I'm just I'm trying to work on my you know backhand [ __ ] tow drag like go
59:42
up there and try to win games like you know if if they if it's a game situation and they're keeping score don't be
59:49
trying things that's for that's for Pawn hockey in your backyard and right you know the off season now you now you're
59:55
trying to win a you know you're trying to put yourself in a in a good light and and you know make a good impression on
1:00:01
the Bruins you know management team so you know try to win and compete and and
1:00:07
uh you know do do the right things out there I'm looking forward to seeing Jackson Edward yes uh I'm also looking
1:00:14
forward to seeing lerno teammates shelc there's a guy a veteran now of rookie Camp he's a guy that should be
1:00:20
dominating rookie camp and really showing where he has really progressed into a top Prospect for the Bruins now
1:00:27
Andre gasau his teammate with BC Jonathan Melo is going to beu now he he
1:00:34
left his commitment at uh Cornell Y and is now going to be for 2526 which is a
1:00:42
game changer for him now he's going to a hockey East power uh where the Limelight
1:00:48
is on there when stiff competition great teammates like good coaching like all of
1:00:53
it so Morel kind of jumps up the charts a bit uh and could be a real steal from where
1:00:58
they got him in the draft this year so you know guys like that that um you know
1:01:04
luck melis you know all these all these guys that are in a couple of years now
1:01:10
of camp and are getting closer and closer to signing elc's and being in the
1:01:16
mix and maybe being Providence Bruin soon uh because I think xelic certainly
1:01:23
uh maybe gaso you know Philips V back all these guys could be signing
1:01:29
elc's um at some point at the end of next season so it'll be it'll be interesting to see them I did see that
1:01:36
the Bruins you can have 50 contracts yes I did see that the Bruins have 44 so
1:01:41
they have six contracts open which is quite a bit for this time of year yep um
1:01:46
so you got Tyler Johnson you got Jeremy Swan obviously um but after that you get four
1:01:52
more slots so we'll see what happens with they last year they're right up
1:01:57
against it from what I can remember 48 49 they were right around that Max but
1:02:02
right now they've got some open slots to play with so that's something to keep an eye on um all right draftking Sports SP

1:03:11
kings.com all right beauties for this week this was an easy one the Beauties
1:03:17
are Johnny and Matthew GD gonna love you they're GNA be loving you from dawn
1:03:23
until D so Johnny and Matthew great hockey players great people by all
1:03:28
accounts I went on to everything hockey.com and they had the uh
1:03:34
13 was it 13 and 40 um the numbers for the two they had a really nice shirt on
1:03:40
there bought one of those suckers 13 and 40 forever and um you know they you know
1:03:46
they'll be sorely missed they already are sorely missed um and it's really
1:03:51
it's you know three years ago I think it was um the Blue Jackets had another death of
1:03:57
a player as well so this is the second time they've been through this recently really devastating for them as an
1:04:04
organization Calgary Flames Boston College Eagles Jerry yorc the legendary
1:04:10
coach for BC talked about having a statue out front Kelly rink for Johnny
1:04:16
that happen so that they need to make that happen and it's it's really just incredibly tragic and sad and um you
1:04:25
know we could do what we can to honor both Johnny and Maddie yeah and a in a
1:04:30
great uh story from Cole Coffield who uh idolized Gad um growing up as being
1:04:38
another small player and uh he was wearing 22 with the Montreal Canadians and is goingon to switch to 13 to honor
1:04:46
his hero which is Johnny grro so uh really a cool thing from from Coffield
1:04:51
and and uh you know he's just the outpouring of of love from guys
1:04:57
throughout the league to his to to Johnny and Matthew and his family uh you
1:05:03
know both their families uh has really just been tremendous um there was a GoFundMe for for uh Matthews um family
1:05:12
for his unborn child uh that I think the goal was 30,000 and they hit like
1:05:17
500,000 or something like that in the first right you know couple of days so
1:05:23
uh the hockey Community you know as always uh it's just full of great people
1:05:28
coming together to uh to help out the family and and it just really shows um you know it's such a tight-knit
1:05:35
community um and you know we're we're proud to be a very small part of that
1:05:40
but um you know really all our best do uh thoughts and prayers for um you know
1:05:45
Johnny and Matthew and and their families uh at this time for sure and
1:05:52
um yeah it's it's uh it's just it's just horrifically tragic and um you know our
1:05:59
best go out to the gdo family like the Blue Jackets family and everyone in hockey that knew the good Dr very
1:06:08
well all right Bender time yeah our B you know it's I mean we probably
1:06:14
shouldn't even dignify this um you know but we'll say um Benders is uh drunk
1:06:22
drivers h a bender um yeah yeah just get get just get an Uber get an
1:06:29
Uber get a lift get a drive a bus no don't drive a bus uh take a bus uh take
1:06:35
a cab uh don't get behind the wheel if you've had too much to drink it's not
1:06:40
worth it it's not worth it you can you know change uh entire family's you
1:06:49
know Legacy livelihood you know whatever
1:06:54
whatever I I can't even put into words um how I feel about it but it it it just
1:07:02
it's it's terrible and it's shocking and it's it's it's completely unnecessary
1:07:08
like you you can make a better decision than that and you should make a better decision than that and and uh you know
1:07:16
for Johnny we should really you know try to try to be better in that regard I
1:07:21
think and one of our writers Jade CI she actually wrote an article on all the
1:07:27
different programs that different Arenas in the NHL have regarding Designated Drivers so you can go to inside the
1:07:33
rink.com check out that article she has to for an arena near you uh and they'll
1:07:38
have anything that you need the Bruins didn't have anything on their website
1:07:44
which I thought was interesting uh as far as what to do when you need a designated driver a lot of the other uh
1:07:51
all of the other uh teams in the league did there were a couple of teams that did didn't have a program so hopefully
1:07:58
uh they'll rethink that and have a program for if someone needs a designated driver during uh or after the
1:08:05
game on uh as they depart the arena um so we're going to have some we
1:08:12
have a couple more here to go where our season premiere will be in a couple of weeks season 4 you can believe it of the
1:08:20
