1:17
Barry and here we are again in the dog days of off seon we not a hell of a lot
1:24
going on we squeezed out some chirps for today uh but I also wanted to talk to
1:29
you about this right-handed left-handed thing yeah that I saw in the Tweet where there are more left-handed shots double
1:36
in fact than uh than right-handed shots in the league why do you think that is
1:42
uh because there's more right-handed people than left-handed people yeah okay and uh hockey you you're supposed to
1:49
play opposite of what your hand is yeah so your dominant hand is your
1:54
top hand because that's your stick handling hand uh so that's the way that it should actually
2:00
be uh that's how they do it in Canada but in the US we're a little more lenient we just give a kid a stick and
2:07
say how do you feel shoot with it that way shoot with it that way uh go ahead
2:12
yeah however you're comfortable and then that's how it goes really so there's a method to this that the Canadians yeah
2:18
there's a real method and the Canadians will tie you up and make you force you
2:24
flog you will they you with uh you know Canadian bacon and maybe water board you
2:30
with map syrup possibly tell you what I'll tell you what that sounds like a good Saturday night it really
2:38
does syrup sure yeah maple syrup and then they try to drown you in a
2:43
molsen oh molsen Canadian or a bats blue I'll tell you what give it to me ice
2:48
cold yeah Molson Canadian Ice Cold give it to me give me to me ice cold I can get it down I can get five or six or
2:55
eight down 12 uh you're you're uh ice cold beer guy I'm an ice cold beer like
3:02
ice cold beer if it's ice cold I'll suck that [ __ ] down yeah you'll drink it no
3:07
matter what oh my good well right I mean I'll drink lukewarm beer whatever but if
3:13
it's ice cold I'm firing Curtis is Curtis is chiming as a Canadian who
3:18
coached for years that's not true not true blasphemy well Curtis what is the
3:25
truth you can't handle the truth Curtis don't know well how do we know
3:31
the truth we're we don't know the truth we that's what I heard I mean I'm old
3:36
and so ctis you might be younger than me but uh back in the day uh I'm pretty sure that's how they did it they did it
3:43
back way back in the day back also had all the French Canadians play with for Montreal yeah they they like skewed it
3:50
skewed draft Yeah because you uh you could draft from your home Province or your home
3:55
area so yeah I don't know yeah I know interes Curtis is Curtis is not having
4:03
it no he was pretty uh passionate that that was not the case but I am
4:08
right-handed in every way yeah uh and I shoot with my right on the right side of
4:14
the stick so I'm a cam Cam Neely guy I guess I'm uh I'm left-handed and I shoot
4:21
uh right-handed in hockey you shoot right-handed yeah you're the opposite you do it right I do it the Canadian way Curtis I do it the right way right the
4:29
Canadians it was National left-handed day yesterday yeah I celebrated that was
4:34
you did you uh not at all not you know what we have to do I was
4:40
watching poroi I you know what I started watching those poroi piz Pizza reviews
4:45
yeah and I watched it like the first time I was like this is kind of silly why do you do this now I I'm telling you I am
4:51
enamored like I am totally locked in to all of them I have no idea why but
4:58
because they are silly but I watched them all and I'm thinking we should review something yeah we review
5:04
something real it I mean I do review things on my own
5:10
for my own personal uh already pretty much any place that I go
5:16
to that has a chicken Palm on the menu I'm ordering it okay I was thinking of that I was thinking so I I rank chicken
5:23
parms right now I do it already I ranked them okay um and you you can you and butche can uh back and forth yeah yeah
5:31
but's a big chicken P John big chicken P guy yeah he actually
5:38
you crazy thing producer Connor he actually has a son I believe named Tyler
5:44
so it is not me like a scratch golfer too yeah yeah
5:50
um he is and so is John the big guy yeah yeah he can golf like hell both those
5:55
guys can golf like hell yeah maybe we can get invited to their next golf trip that'd be fun yeah the next golf I'd be
6:02
up for the next golf trip yeah yeah they went to to Ireland we should we should
6:07
mix that into the uh to the YouTube channel as as of chicken p and I think
6:14
ice cream might be a good one oh ice cream's another good one ice cream's another good one but I love the chicken
6:20
parm idea we just go around at restaurants every year close to to Providence where there's a million good Italian restaurants correct and good
6:27
chicken P everywhere yeah everywhere you you want to be so oh Jack and Brett so
6:33
Tyler butcher gross is not actually a real person oh well it can be you I
6:38
guess if he adopts you I guess it is me yeah yeah I'm getting everything wrong Curtis yeah I know producer well
6:45
sometime you know what that's that's the whole sports radio way now you just kind of say [ __ ] Yeah you don't have to check
6:50
it or anything go check it producer Conor is checking us yeah he checks us
6:55
fact he's a fact we should do like a Callin cord like where where Smitty was wrong yeah and go
7:02
back not right you're wrong too sometimes yeah I am wrong all the time
7:07
all right seven chirps are sponsored by lobs Brewing lobs for brewing and tast room in downtown with so wood socket

7:20
your online order at lops brewing.com go to lops brewing for new beers and events and we'll be uh announcing maybe we'll
7:27
announce it next week or next couple weeks right before the season starts yeah it's a good time out it's a little uh little
7:34
action going on at lobs Brewing yeah but hey we're into top 15 prospects now uh
7:40
so this is really where we get to the nitty-gritty and number 15 is defenseman
7:45
Michael Callahan and Michael was uh picked up from the Arizona
7:52
Coyotes uh for a seventh round pick a million in one days ago he went to
7:58
college no did he was a Providence frier uh good good little defenseman played
8:03
much for the Providence Bruins last season is kind of an on the on the borderline of being a guy who could be
8:09
called up this season there's an injury here or there yeah and he would be probably him and reg are probably the
8:17
first couple of candidates there if someone does go down I think so yeah
8:23
he's he's been he's been pretty good for Providence uh you he played in all situations and and
8:30
he having himself a a pretty good little career down there and he will I think be
8:35
uh be in the mix there for uh for the Bruins if there are any injuries or anything like that uh during the season
8:42
yeah and with Mason lur back now up with the club the big club and now Callahan gets a bunch of time he's 24 years old
8:50
from Franklin Massachusetts uh he was a fifth round pick I'm sorry of the Arizona Coyotes in
8:57
2018 um and and then uh is now with the Bruins organization last season 70 games
9:04
he was an assistant Captain he had four goals and 13 assist for 17
9:09
points as a uh he was a captain also with a Providence College friers so again Donnie Sweeney loves himself a
9:16
captain a captain and a local guy yeah oh that's a double dip I mean talk about
9:22
love you know local local guy local College you know really checking all the boxes there oh Hockey East hock
9:29
guy guy yeah Captain I mean Jesus that's Tri that's the Sweeny
9:37
trior there's some liquid flowing in here I'll tell you that's that's uh oh boy uh Hey number 14 is Ryan Walsh Ryan
9:48
Walsh was uh drafted recently by the Boston Bruins and he is up to number 14
9:53
on this very list um Cornell University is Ryan so have a lot of
10:00
people in the playing in the NCAA this year which is good you can get some access to them you can see them rather
10:07
than having a bunch of guys overseas you know yeah is Cornell a big red is that Cornell Cornell's a big red yeah yeah
10:14
this this young fellow is from Rochester New York he's 20 years old sixf foot 181
10:19
Center he was a sixth round pick in the 20023 draft uh with Cornell last season
10:27
his rookie is a freshman year 12 12 goals 10 assists in 35 games so a pretty
10:32
good year for him in his freshman year after having 79 points in the USHL with
10:37
the Cedar Raids R Riders and uh 61 games so he has uh he
10:45
played at Salsbury School prep he has scored goals everywhere he has been
10:51
another late rounder and as Elite prospects say Walsh's game is all about the details offensively he's always open
10:58
when he can't be he's Ates in the groups of Defenders to create space for his teammates sounds good to me yeah I like
11:05
the sound of all that I like the fact that he had a good year as a freshman too yes uh at Cornell so that's usually
11:13
a good sign playing in uh against pretty good competition there in the uh I believe that's what is that the EC the
11:19
ecac Y yeah the old EAC yeah um yeah good signs all good signs so hopefully
11:26
he continues his upward upward trajectory they always could use um some
11:31
prospects to uh to fill out their uh their Prospect pool CU you know we all know that they struggle a little bit
11:38
there R to so um any any kind of hit in a later round is always going to be a
11:44
good thing you know number 13 is a
11:50
2023 fourth rounder Becket Hendrickson is a 13 intriguing Prospect 19 years old
11:57
from minetonka Minnesota he is going to play this season with the University of Minnesota
12:03
Golden golfers and he was a teammate of Chris Pelosi who will be talking about very
12:10
briefly here uh and the two of them played on the line together played very well together uh in the USHL so right
12:18
now Becket Henderson is at 13 climbing the charts and this is a this is a big a
12:25
big boy at 6'2 180 pounds Center left shot so he must be
12:32
right-handed and um you know he played with the sou fall Stampede with Pelosi
12:37
and then moved on to the debuk of Fighting Saints mid year but he had a
12:43
total last season of 64 points in 57
12:49
games always a positive pretty good more points than games is always a positive
12:55
always you get you get a a point per game you're in the you're in the mix is one of the better players in whatever
13:00
League you're in absolutely absolutely no question about it number 12 is Trevor kunar former BC Eagle a grinder little
13:09
little fire hydrant spark plug kind of guy uh bottom six uh forecasted for
13:15
countar has a real chance in Camp here to open some eyes and potentially get a look in Boston at some point this
13:22
season um he's a you know he's a kind of a get to the net grinded out aggressive
13:28
for check you know all the things that the Bruins like to try to be you talk about when
13:33
you talk about hard to play against and all that nonsense well this is kind of what that looks like I guess with a guy
13:39
like countar yeah I think he has a similar playing style to uh Brandon Gallagher although we yes can't stand
13:46
Gallagher you know if he's a guy that's kunai if he's a guy that's on your team You're Gonna Love A guy like that that's
13:52
gonna you know get to the dirty Aries mix mix things up you know antagonize
13:58
the other team all little things to help his team win and he's uh you know got
14:04
some offensive Talent got some good touch so he would be uh you know a pretty welcome addition to the to the
14:10
fourth line I think he probably will get a look at some point during the year with some injuries and whatnot he'll
14:16
probably get a look on the fourth line uh with Boston and and have an opportunity to uh you know show what he
14:22
can do at the NHL level without question he had 10 goals and 10 assists for 20
14:27
points in 70 games last season season with the Bruins 6 foot 200 lb and as we
14:34
said um you know strong strong guy stocky frame um really grinds it out aggressive
14:41
four Checker those are the types of things that'll get you in the leag as we seen with guys like yako blco whether or
14:47
not you can stay in the league you know it's a different story yeah it's about consistency and the
14:53
things that you talked about in the past but countar is definitely a guy um a
14:58
former top 10 scorer in the USHL mhm has a chance to be uh you know at least get
15:05
a sniff of the roster this season and then uh number 11 Chris Pelosi who was a
15:11
third round pick 92 overall in 20123 former teammate of Becket Hendrickson
15:18
Pelosi's been kind of the prize right now of the recent draft picks in an
15:24
intriguing player at 61 180 pound the
15:30
center uh he has produced uh more and more as he's played along here he had 55
15:37
points in 56 games with a sou fall Stampede as an assistant Captain last
15:42
season and now he goes on to Quinn aak University this year a very good program
15:48
was won a a championship in the past recent past and uh he has a chance to be
15:53
on the you know play against good competition and be in the spotlight in the NCAA and see what he can do yeah
16:01
he's he's uh he's a good player he's a he's a good Prospect he's he's played well wherever he's been in the past he
16:08
has good size he is a center and he's got good offensive Talent Quinn Pak you
16:13
know they run a good program where they have um you know guys that really compete every night so I think he'll fit
16:20
in really well there uh and like you said he'll play against good competition and and it'll be interesting to see how
16:26
some of these guys do like Pelosi like Hendrickson um due in their first years
16:32
in college hockey because you know as as much as you know doing well in minor
16:38
league hockey or the USHL is college hockey you know some of the guys you're playing against can be 23 24 years old
16:46
so uh you know you're gonna be playing against guys who who probably you know are stronger than you uh as if you're
16:53
coming in as a freshman so um it'll be interesting to see how um those guys can adapt to the college game and and and
17:00
what what they can do and how they can produce at that level for no question he
17:05
was at uh he's a su New Jersey native who played one season with the Mount St
17:11
Charles uh Powerhouse in Rhode Island W socket Rhode Island W socket yeah W
17:18
socket home of L thr yeah without without question and and many of Conor greens former
17:24
girlfriends uh two chirp number two uh the new Bruins playby playay voice is
17:32
you know same as the old one yeah is Jud Sarat Jud Sarat moves from Radio to TV
17:39
you know it's a pretty good move that was really predictable I mean the Bruins rarely go kind of outside the house you
17:47
know they keep it close that you know they you know you can say whether or not they pay a ton and all that stuff they
17:52
typically never really go out and get like National guys to do these types of things and um it's kind of a smaller
17:59
organization that way in a sense and Sarat who's done a really good job on the radio moves over now and I think
18:05
he'll be better on the TV I agree I think it's a I think you know it's a
18:12
like you said it's a pretty predictable higher the Bruins were never going to go outside the organization and pay big
18:19
money for a bigname guy to come in that's just not how they operate uh so
18:24
now it'll be interesting to see who gets the job on the radio side uh I heard
18:30
there were over 200 applicants right but my guess is it will probably be uh
18:35
someone uh if not inhouse a young upand Comer I think probably it will be Ryan
18:41
Johnson who's already on uh 985 the sports subub who has the Bruins rights uh so I think it will probably be Ryan
18:48
Johnston uh but you never know uh they could hire some some up and comer and
18:54
and we'll see what happens with that but uh you know shat a good hire and I think he like you said I think he will do a
19:00
good job on the TV side of things I think so Brickley stays with him and I think I'm I'm in agreement with him I
19:07
think Johnston is the guy many lobbied for him to get the TV thing and and
19:12
people continue to lobby for him on social media to get it so I think that
19:18
since he's at 985 The Sports Hub and he's in the hockey realm he does the he he hosts the uh theey hockey shows too
19:26
so Saturday mornings y yeah on Saturday mornings so he's uh kind of in there so I think he I think he definitely gets
19:32
the radio gig too so I I like the Sarat higher in that I think I really think Sarat his style is going to play the TV
19:41
you know he's gonna bring the energy I think he's going to be pretty good with that radio is really hard like radio is
19:47
really hard to do um johnon comes in hockey such a fast game describing on
19:54
the radio goodness next to impossible so it is I think uh I think you know
19:59
there's a there's only a handful of guys who are ever really really truly great at it um one of them was a Boston with
20:05
Bob Wilson he was traa oh Bob Wilson was the best I mean the best and so um I
20:11
think you're right I think he moving over to TV will with Jud uh will do will do uh he'll do well with that and and uh
20:18
you know I'm looking forward to it you know looking forward to it yeah for sure chirp three Tonto Maple have taken the
20:24
captaincy away from John tarus and given it to Austin Matthews is this just a technicality and the fact that Matthews
20:31
is one of the best players in the world and be there for a long time or could tarus eventually be on the way out I
20:39
mean we've talked about it they're spending too much money on that group of guys and if and if and if you picked one
20:46
to be on the way out to me it would be terrar because he's the oldest uh and he
20:51
doesn't produce as much as the other guys do so to me he's the one that should be out so is that a you know some
20:59
foreshadowing that tarus might be the one that's gone yeah I think it maybe it is but at the same time Austin Matthew
21:06
should be the captain of the Toronto Maple Le he is their best player uh they go how he goes so um you know it was
21:13
only a matter of time before I think that happened and and you know why not now when you know tarus is certainly
21:20
older and and uh less productive and and possibly on the way out so um you know
21:26
Matthews should should have assumed the happy maybe even sooner than now um but
21:31
but he finally gets it and and uh you know that's really the way it should be up there I think it also gives Matthews
21:37
a little bit of added responsibility and kind of keeps him in check kind of thing like he's the captain now and now he's
21:44
not only the Superstar and the best player on the team one of the best players on the planet but he's now the
21:50
captain in the face and all of it and I think that keeps him in a you know not
21:55
that he's someone who gets out you know gets out of the line or or I mean he's pretty remarkably consistent to be
22:01
honest but you know it just it just gives him that little bump yeah and um I
22:08
think it's a good move for them and I think tarus is the guy obviously Maro will give you a better return probably
22:13
but I think that if you really want to kind of make that one move that clears some money and changes your Dynamic a
22:20
bit you you move on from tarus to be honest but you know we'll see what happens there chirp number four here's a
22:28
look at the entire top 10 goalies per NHL network and number four on the list is
22:36
Jeremy Swan of the Bruins number 10 is Lena salar now of the Senators number
22:43
one was eigor shurin number two Connor huk three was Andre
22:49
vasileski and then five was Ilia sarakin yeah I mean that sounds about
22:55
right vasileski I think probably is is down I think that's a more of a
23:00
reputation thing than anything else I think he did not have as good of a year uh last year as he has in previous years
23:07
uh but he was all World in previous years so maybe slipping a little bit he does fall the three maybe from from
23:13
higher up on the list um but you can make an argument that you know maybe he's a little lower in the list uh other
23:20
than that I mean I really don't have a problem with it you could probably put Omar a little bit higher um but uh you
23:27
know overall I would say that those probably are the 10 best goalies in in uh in the NHL at this point in time yeah
23:34
and you have six you have that Demco seven Sergey bosski was interesting he was wasn't even right you know year
23:41
before last he wasn't even the starter you know Alex lion was playing over him and yeah you know but now Bob has made
23:49
gez he's just made a 180 um and then Jake aringer and and uh
23:55
and Saros at eight and n and then all mark at 10 and I think I'm with you I
24:00
think this is largely fairly accurate probably quick kick uh vasileski down
24:08
under Swan particularly by midseason I think you'll see that happen but I think this is a decent list yeah I think I
24:15
think it's probably pretty good uh you know I think um you know if demo Demco
24:22
doesn't get hurt maybe he's a little higher on the list I think you know ainger you know is certainly shown
24:28
flashes of of being a a top five goalie in the league um but you know if your if
24:34
your team you know doesn't win or you lose series you know you tend to fall
24:40
down a little bit you know the only reason Swan's that high is because he was amazing uh in the series that they
24:47
lost and had an unbelievable playoff uh in a losing effort so um yeah overall I
24:53
think it's a pretty good lift yeah for sure uh and we'll see what happens uh
24:59
we got we got another couple of months before the season starts we got a month until training camp we'll see what
25:07
happens with uh we we'll chat about Jeremy swan in just a minute but chirp
25:12
number five St Louis Blues with two offer sheets out of nowhere for two
25:18
Edmonton Oiler players what did Edmonton do to piss off the St Louis GM I know
25:24
this is unbelievable they got like uh naked pictures of of that guys so um
25:29
yeah uh Frank selli reports that uh offer sheet by the St Louis Blues to
25:35
Philip broberg two years at uh you know a little over four and a half million
25:40
and then Dylan Holloway two-year deal at uh 2.29 uh compensation due was a third
25:46
round pick for Holloway and a second round pick for broberg um $1 more on a
25:53
for each player would have bumped up the compensation so they went right to the top of the compensation level uh that
25:59
they could uh they actually St Louis had to make a trade with Pittsburgh to reacquire a second round pick in order
26:07
to have uh the compensation necessary to make the offer sheet um so you know
26:13
they're trying to uh they're trying to grab these guys out from underneath Edmonton Edmonton's up against the cap
26:19
uh they're saying now possibly that a bander K may need surgery and may go on
26:24
long-term IR so maybe there's a way there for Edmonton to of circumvent the cap and uh be able to keep their guys
26:32
for now because when C comes back there's going to be some moves that need to be made so it'll be interesting to
26:39
see uh Edmonton has a week to match I believe the offer was what two days ago is that right two days ago yeah yeah uh
26:47
so Edmonton has a a week to match and it'll be interesting to see what they do you know um they have a a pretty good
26:55
roster overall you know they were um a stany Stanley Cup finalist so you know
27:02
they don't probably want to mess with the roster too much couple of additions but uh those are two guys um that they
27:09
probably don't want to lose but um you know they may not necessarily want to
27:16
pay them uh those rates either sure so it'll be interesting to see how this all
27:21
kind of shakes out in the next uh you know over the next uh four or five days well Kane makes 5.13
27:28
so if he goes on long term they re they recoup that yeah so you get four and a
27:34
half you'd have enough of that signing and then I believe they were a mill or so over the cap so it would probably be
27:43
a smaller player that they'd have to get rid of in order to uh to sign the other
27:48
guy right be interesting to see if they keep both guys they may let one of them go yeah um but yeah that's uh it's it's
27:56
interesting because there's only been two in the cap Bearer that have been
28:01
offered and signed and one was [ __ ] and Yami just a couple years ago uh and then
28:09
there was there was another uh I can't remember who the other one was but Co oh it was um Penner Dustin Penner yeah uh
28:17
from Anaheim to Edmonton or wherever it was so only two so usually this is a
28:23
gentleman's handshake like you just don't do this like you just let the thing play out let the let let the team
28:29
take their guy so that you know if you do go out and sign an offer sheet and do
28:34
that [ __ ] move like they're GNA get you back at some way down the line so it's just kind of this like gentleman's
28:40
like I won't hurt you if you don't hurt me kind of thing nobody touch anybody and just let the thing play out or
28:46
someone would have offered Swan by now for God's sakes like yeah just you know
28:52
so then your the first thing I thought of when this I saw this was like oh [ __ ] are we starting this trend now of of RFA
28:58
offers is someone gonna offer to San now like oh my God like the only thing I can
29:04
think of is there's back channels that have happened between swayman and teams that would have possibly wanted to offer
29:10
sheet because I believe his agent was saying that he wanted to get an offer sheet like they they wanted that to
29:17
happen yeah um at some point so I feel like the amount of money that San is
29:24
demanding reaches a certain level where team are like I'm not given up that much in compensation right to sign a goalie
29:32
to that type of money in contract and that's the only reason that I can think of that a team hasn't offered him
29:38
because teams are always looking for goalies so if somebody's gonna you know offer sheet two guys on the same team uh
29:46
they certainly would offer sheet San so I think maybe what he's looking for is
29:52
uh a little too rich for the teams around the League's blood maybe yeah right all right trip six
29:59
95 The Sports Hub in Boston is celebrating their 15-year anniversary for the last 119 months they were only
30:06
one month they were not number one and that was July of
30:12
2019 right after the Bruins lost to the blues and as Michael felger said it was
30:19
probably just that people were like I don't want to watch any of it I don't want to listen to it I don't wantan to I
30:25
don't want to hear about it it's interesting I'm 100 I'm I'm there that's me I am that is 100% me when the Bruins
30:33
lost I was like I don't want to hear about hockey I don't want to talk about hockey I don't want to listen to hockey
30:38
I don't want to hear anything to do with hockey I don't want to hear anything to do with sports in general like get me
30:44
away from Sports so I I probably was uh a month of Music there myself so um you
30:50
know probably zlx was probably number one that month I bet yeah probably I you know you know bcn or who know bcn's gone
30:59
it's elx or w r or something who knows yeah but yeah it's it's interesting and
31:07
we even see it here like if the Bruins win a playoff game got a ton of people on here dropping comments doing their
31:14
thing and then there's less when they lose like people shut it off like you know screw this I'm G to put on The
31:20
Golden Girls marathon and cry myself to sleep you know so and I think that that
31:26
that happens and I and I do that same thing like if back in the day when the Red Sox if they lost a big game I would
31:31
not watch sports center like I would not watch it because I don't want to see the highlight of the Yankees with da da da
31:37
and the whole I don't want to see that again I don't want to see it so I that makes perfect sense and it's funny that
31:43
the only month in the 119 months holy moly um was that month right there well
31:51
they didn't win yeah breaking [ __ ] loss I was sorry it was
31:58
it was incredibly heartbreaking we saw the video of makoy crying and Maran sitting there stunned like yeah they
32:05
they had that I mean they were the better team they were home for game seven they just clocked them in game six
32:10
like you thought you're coming home let's finish the deal and then they have
32:16
a few CH a couple chances early on the game come out flying don't score and
32:22
then St Louis scores the first goal and then the nuts get smaller the sticks get
32:28
Tighter and it's over like in a millisecond it seemed and that's it like
32:34
it just the story of the Bruins playoffs like the last four five six years right
32:41
like they have chances and they're just not burying the chances when they need to bury them they had chances to put
32:48
Florida away uh and then Florida eliminates them you know couple years back then you know it just they've had
32:56
moments where you're like ah if they just could have scored there you know series over game over Bruins move on but
33:03
they just they haven't been able to to score that Big Goal get that big goal
33:08
when they needed to and it's and it's hurt them and it's hurt us it's hurt the fans it's hurt it's hurt everybody that
33:14
watches the team uh so hopefully they can figure something out here in the next uh little while to uh get over that
33:22
home I mean it always seems to be at home it always seems to be at home they
33:28
have a and I think there's this thing at home where the crowd gets a little tight and the team really wants to win in
33:34
front of the crowd and it's this whole I'm a big believer in sports Karma like just the whole feel like like in the Red
33:42
Sox taught me that I'm right like in 2004 as soon as Kevin Mal said don't let
33:47
us win the next one it just changed the whole mindset then they win the next one then they win the next one and then just
33:53
so karma is a thing oh sure and and I think that
33:58
this there needs to be you know just they need to win a big one at home to
34:04
kind of lift that monkey off their back and you thought that it was with Toronto they win that game with poso scores to
34:11
win the series yeah like that's they need more of those at home they need not
34:18
against Toronto that's right right it needs to be somebody it's like they have that confidence against other teams they
34:25
don't right and then what happens they beat Toronto yeah I mean it's a it's a
34:31
confidence thing it's a feel thing it's a self-fulfilling prophecy thing where
34:36
you know as soon as they get down the fans like here we go again and it was the same way with the Red Sox you know
34:43
the Red Sox are losing in the playoffs here we go like the Bull's gonna implode or whatever the case may be like the
34:50
same thing with the Bruins like if they the other team scores the first goal in a big game like at home especially
34:55
you're like well they're [ __ ] [ __ ] now like right just there there needs to
35:01
be a like a attitude shift about the whole thing from fans from the team from
35:07
everyone where it's like we can still do this like we're okay we'll get through
35:14
this we can come back we've done it before we you know we're resilient we're
35:19
we've said a million times we're resilient club we had the most points in the league a couple years ago like we
35:26
can win games it's just they need to have like a I don't give a [ __ ] kind of an attitude like malar did where it's
35:34
like ah you know there's no pressure on us now like we're supposed to yeah everybody everybody thinks we're lose
35:40
we're supposed to lose everybody thinks we're going to lose so let's and they just kind of have to change that mindset
35:47
and and and and win some G like you said win some games at home when it matters
35:52
the most when it win it at home yeah all right trip seven this is Elliot
35:59
fredman on 32 thoughts talking about Jeremy Swan and the Boston Bruins the
36:05
last I heard they weren't close I think this has been a bit of a challenging
36:10
negotiation but they' still got time and we'll see how this sorts out so this is
36:17
what I've been saying all along they can't be that close or it would be done correct like it has to be far apart I
36:23
still believe if I'm Jeremy Swan I'm saying yeah I'll sign a three or four year deal
36:31
and if I'm the Bruins I'm like no I want seven or eight because I want to lock you up and make this deal at year four
36:37
five six seven8 an even sweeter deal yeah because
36:42
a cap goes up and it changes the value and all of that if I'm swinging I'm betting on myself and saying I'm G to be
36:49
a top four goalie like it says here for the next four years and then when I'm 29
36:56
and I'm still in my Prime I might get 10 million a year yeah for five more years right you know so you
37:03
can bet on yourself here if you're swayman and take a shorter deal that's what I would be thinking if I was
37:09
swayman and if I'm the Bruins I'm like no I want I'll sign up for 10 years like if at the right number so that it looks
37:17
much better down the road so I that's where I think the rubber meets the road
37:22
if I was swiming I'd be thinking term is the big thing with me yeah I think you
37:28
can see it from both sides I agree with you I think Swan is probably saying you know I want a lesser term so I can cash
37:35
in again in a few years and have the I'm if I'm the Bruins I'm saying if you're
37:40
asking for that kind of money in annual average value like aav of of upwards of$
37:47
N9 million we want a longer term so that in a few years when you're you know $9
37:54
million won't be you know the highest paid goalie in the league it'll look better because the cap will go up so I
38:00
can see it from both sides and eventually you know it's going to have to it's going to have to come to pass
38:06
the one thing I didn't love about Elliot freedman's comments there was the very last line where he says we'll see how
38:13
this works out yeah it didn't say they'll get a deal done right we'll see
38:18
how this works out that didn't make me feel great no that didn't make me feel great I mean I think and he probably
38:25
thinks and I know you probably think that a deal will get done but that makes
38:30
me a little bit nervous about the whole thing it when does it get done like are we are we it doesn't sound great it
38:37
doesn't and when does it get done does it get done like into training camp does it get done into the season like is he
38:44
gonna hold out a little bit like how is he digging his heels into the sand are the Bruins going to give in at all like
38:52
this is what I don't understand like this could really [ __ ] up the season if you you start with a guy with your goal
38:59
tender your starting goal tender and the only other goal tenders you have are a
39:04
minor league guy and a guy who's stunk like that's all you have left right so
39:10
if you let this thing go into the season then it could screw up the all the timing and Rhythm of the Season you be
39:17
you could be digging out of a hole from day one yeah and that's why I think swan has all the leverage so the Bruins are
39:24
eventually going to have to cave and I think it will probably get done uh if
39:30
not right before training camp into training camp I don't think he'll be a whole out into the season I think swan
39:37
has the leverage my opinion was and is that they should have got this done the
39:44
extension done with Swan before they traded omark yes because then the Bruins
39:50
would have had the leverage not Swan and now the Bruins have lost the leverage
39:55
because allar is gone Swan's like who are you gonna have play goal cor pasalo
40:00
with his [ __ ] four goals against average or Brandon busy who's never
40:06
played a game in the NHL before those are the guys that you're gonna have play goalie on a team that you expect to
40:13
challenge for a you know a playoff spot in in in in the league and and possibly
40:19
go further than that like you they don't have any leverage at all now swan has all the leverage all of it and they're
40:27
gonna have to Cave to him at some point and I think it probably will be right before the season starts and here's the
40:32
other sneaky thing about this Charlie Jacobs is on eii the other day as the
40:38
CEO and he says I hope that he's ready meaning swayan to play Come training
40:44
camp if we have some things to work out I'm sure we'll get there but I hope that
40:50
he's ready to play Come training camp is not a great is a subtle little not great
40:56
sign either like Charlie's basically saying he hopes that happens he's not sure of
41:03
it so that's what that's why I'm thinking I'm not sure what's going to happen by training camp yeah I mean I
41:08
think he's probably thinking like this this negotiation is probably going to go right up to training camp and he doesn't
41:15
want him to come into camp out of shape which you know we've talked about this before if if people uh guys come into
41:24
Camp after a hold out they're usually injured they usually inevitably inevitably pull a muscle yeah pull a
41:31
muscle pull a hamstring strain a back you know whatever it is so I think
41:36
that's Charlie Jacob's way of saying look if you're gonna hold out for more money when you finally get here and we
41:42
get their [ __ ] all ironed out you better be [ __ ] ready to go that's what he's saying in not so many words yeah you
41:50
know I yeah after all this you better be ready to go you better [ __ ] ready to go yeah you better not get hurt you
41:56
better be ready to play when you get here you better be ready to [ __ ] go sorry John but you know I had to add the
42:02
colorful language for for Char's not yeah so I yeah I'm with you I'm with you
42:08
I mean I don't I don't know what the odds are I wonder I wonder if there's odds on draftking sports book uh
42:15

42:21

43:30
at draftkings.com well no Beauties or Benders uh
43:37
this do that when when no one yeah there's not there's literally there was
43:43
a trade Cody glass went to the uh Predators or somewhere from the
43:48
Predators to the Penguins or something I'm like out of nowhere there's a NHL
43:53
trade they had they couldn't wait to get rid of Cody glass had to be now had to be August you know 12th gotta get rid of
44:00
Cody's glass wake up in the morning know you're on the beach and and when wiip
44:06
[ __ ] and you're like Jesus we still have Cody glass we gotta get rid of this guy
44:11
uh but they needed to move some Camp did Nashville and they moved him on to H Pittsburgh so so here here's a I mean
44:20
it's not a beauty or a bender but here's a guy who I mean I suppose you could take it however you want but Ryan gets
44:25
laugh yes is r uh NHL player safety he'll be he'll be up in there
44:31
with George paros Doling out the suspensions and the fines what do you think of getl joining player safety I'll
44:38
tell you if we can we make get getl the uh the beauty this week and maybe he'll give the Bruins a little bit of of a
44:44
good Shake because Bruins always get the big bone let's [ __ ] do it to the rectum when it comes to player safety
44:52
and paros didn't particularly like the Bruins maybe gets left us
44:57
here we go uh Ryan gets laugh gonna love you they're gonna be loving you from dawn until I love I'll love your ass
45:04
From Dawn till Dusk if you don't suspend every little brewing for every little thing yeah let's let's suspend some
45:11
Florida Panthers Ryan how about that yeah suspend those guys yeah so get laugh look I I'm you know I don't know
45:19
I'm I it's always a tough one I you always don't you don't understand like where the League's coming from they talk
45:25
about player safety and concussions and and you know players come first and all
45:31
this stuff but their actions never seem to match up with their words and they look if you the league is the way it is
45:38
if you like a little bit of you know every once in a while someone's gonna give a head shot and if you find
45:44
entertainment value in that if you find it it helps the game to be a little more edgy and stuff then just own the fraking
45:51
thing then just own it yeah like I know yeah it's hard for them to own it
45:57
because of all the concussion things and the CTE and the lawsuits and all that [ __ ] so but I'm with you I mean just
46:04
just stle out the suspension like you should Dole it out like have some consistency with it uh and the one thing
46:10
I will say about getl he's been around a long time he's seen a lot of [ __ ] he's
46:16
been there from uh you know when the league was a little more dirty a little
46:21
more hard-hitting a little filthier a little more fights so uh he's been
46:26
around some of that uh he's been around when the league was how it is now so he
46:32
has some experience and hopefully that will help him in his decision making uh
46:38
with player safety and hopefully he can make it a little more even-handed rather than you know kind of it seems just
46:45
[ __ ] arbitrary it seems like they just like a head shot will happen or a
46:50
boarding will happen or a chop or spear or a trip or whatever it is and they'll
46:56
just spin a wheel and be like all right that guy gets fine 50 bucks and that guy get five games and and it just it seems
47:04
random make it so that it seems a little more uh cohesive a little more
47:12
structured a little more even across the board that's all I'm asking for that's all I'm asking for it's just make it
47:18
consistent it's like a strike zone consistent right I mean I don't understand why you just don't have say
47:25
all your suspensions and all the examples and just try to match this
47:30
example best to the previous example you know what I'm saying like you've got all the examples of the suspensions and the
47:37
fines and the and the ones you let go then take this example that just happened and line it up with the best
47:45
possible example you can find and say okay this is what we did this time this
47:50
is what we'll do this time and then can take into consideration a guy's past a guy's done it 10 times the guy's a
47:57
complete Hammerhead then yeah then that's a special example and you add maybe a little bit more to that sure but
48:04
what I don't understand is like you said have some sort of process and some sort
48:09
of Rhyme or Reason and take the examples in the past and it can't be just your
48:15
feeling that particular day Ryan gets left you know what I mean you just get I woke up on the wrong side of bed [ __ ]
48:21
these guys I'm gonna you're getting five games yeah you know I'm just I'm in a shitty mood my wife's pissed at me like
48:27
that's it you're getting five games that's it like I mean come on like can you just have some consistency and take
48:34
the examples previously match the freaking thing up that's all you need to do folks that's all you need to do
48:41
that's it all right so I do have a fun question okay we wrap up here I heard
48:47
this uh recently and I I'm gonna throw it out to you guys all right you're going to have a party a real Banger like
48:54
I mean everybody and your mother is going to be there okay you can you can invite three
49:00
bands or musicians whatever three bands
49:05
to play at your party the only disclaimer
49:11
is these bands are current status so so if you have Aros Smith you get 76 year
49:19
old Stephen Tyler who can't sing like you can't pick Tom Petty you can't pick guys who are dead Michael Jackson Elvis
49:26
Pres you get current status who's available and how good they are right now okay um
49:34
that who would you pick for your three all right I I you did mention this
49:39
earlier so I have already given this some thought and I'm and I'm going different genres because I'm gonna give
49:45
a little bit to everybody oh here just swell guy because I'm because I'm a nice guy we want to get everybody up and
49:51
dancing yeah not just certain people uh so I'm a big you two guy you two has
49:56
been around forever they still play I think they're still good they have a huge catalog they can play any type of
50:03
music you can get anything from you know Club Mix [ __ ] to ballads to play covers
50:09
yeah yeah they got a they got a they got a little bit of everything so I'm going you two yeah I'm going Taylor Swift okay
50:17
uh big catalog again uh probably the biggest star on the planet right now um
50:23
you know and then I'm going Chris Stapleton country guy okay Soulful voice
50:30
uh huge ticket I love his music um so I'm going those three bang that's that's
50:36
a wellth thought out yep process there and that's you know that's three bigin
50:42
those are three those the three big ones people be talking about that for years um I'm gonna go I'm gonna go along the
50:49
same lines I thought about this and I was like you know what when all is said and done this is a party I want banging
50:55
music I want the whole so I'm I'm with you I'm Taylor Swift Bruno Mars and like Pitbull like just
51:02
let's just [ __ ] fire it up let's just let it rain doesn't have anything to do with you looking like pit no no it has
51:08
no my Doppel gang or pitbull but uh yeah the three the three of those just music
51:15
for days like just yeah Bruno Mars concert it was a fantastic show oh I'm
51:21
sure it is I'm sure it is was a great show Tom in Vegas he was tremendous yeah I mean he dance sing you know pites got
51:29
all sorts of dancers and got all the ACT my father who's who was an Asher at the Garden has done many concerts hundreds
51:36
and he said that Pitbull's one of the best like it's just the energy is off the charts well that Brett Michaels well
51:44
see current status Brett Michaels is a little strung on a little you know
51:49
getting a little you know just he's I'll tell you what he's still pretty good I
51:54
mean he still stays in his Lane he's still pretty good he's added on other acts to his party gr like it's he's done
52:01
the right thing he doesn't try to go out there and play for two hours by himself but and he plays his half dozen songs
52:08
that are complete bangers I mean they're good songs and they're good party songs so yeah Brett Michaels would definitely
52:14
be considered but I'm just thinking is he you know is he really in his prime h
52:20
i mean I thought Brian Adams I thought you know just guys who have a huge catalog can play a lot of songs mmhm um
52:28
and those are types of guys that can but I'm just worried about you know what am I getting at you know 60-year-old Brian
52:35
Adams or whatever you know what I'm saying I don't know so I just more in Prime and I and I go along those lines
52:41
does Connor have three because he was threaten over this he wanted postumus people and yeah he wanted dead guys dead
52:48
guys and yeah old girlfriends and oh okay Metallica Luke bran and Emin that's
52:57
solid that's really good yeah that's that's three different genres that's three different Big Time acts yeah I
53:05
mean sure that's that's a good one I'm a fan of that I would go to all of our
53:10
shows I would I mean I I can't wait for you guys to invite me to this part I've have been sweating that [ __ ] question
53:17
all goddamn I know it was it ruined your life and I was you know yeah I mean as soon as he said no dead
53:23
artists I was really thrown for a loop yeah there there there wasn't enough medical uh assistance to get you through
53:30
that so we're happy that you were able to plug away yeah and get that done but
53:36
that's three that's three solid ones I mean that's a good party right there it is that's a really good it's a summer
53:42
day that's an all dayer oh yeah you know that's starting out with Luke Bryan getting the party loose and then
53:48
Metallica bangs your head off and then Eminem tells the story on the way out see you later yeah have a nice day nice
53:55
job nice job Um well hey hey you know thanks for listening everybody it's the middle of
