1:03
is Mark dver from New England Hockey Journal also does some stuff for nhl.com
1:09
and he's he's really knowledge about the prospects that's what we want to talk about today Mark thanks for joining us
1:15
and um glad to be you in the and the thing about I guess I'm just going to start right out what are your thoughts
1:23
because we have our own thoughts what are your thoughts on the general young Player Development
1:30
um when it comes to the Bruins organization well they uh you know
1:37
they've traded a lot of picks in in recent years trying to uh you know maximize their uh their postseason runs
1:47
uh so I mean it's no secret they don't have a lot of prospects uh they haven't
1:54
they haven't uh they they've given up given up picks
1:59
and TR and uh you know the guys that they have drafted you know are not necessarily
2:06
High round or the kids in Providence not necessarily High round picks so you know
2:13
they're not exactly banging on the door to uh to get promoted to the NHL a couple of them are but uh you know the
2:22
prospect pool is uh is shallow I don't think that's any any uh surprise to anybody uh that follows the Bruins no it
2:30
isn't a surprise and we've we've uh We've hammered them a little bit uh for
2:35
that um but in in your opinion some of the guys that are in Providence
2:41
specifically uh Georgie marov and Fabian lysel how how do you think they've been
2:46
playing this year and do they deserve a chance to show what they can do at in Boston at this point in
2:53
time uh well I think they both will get a chance uh whether they deserve it or
2:59
not not at some point between now and the end of the year
3:05
uh I think the Bruins need to find out or get a better look or a better gauge
3:11
on what these guys might be able to bring uh down the road whether that's
3:16
this year next year whenever uh so um
3:21
I'm surprised and you know I I'm I'm not the only one I'm surprised that meroff hasn't gotten a shot uh here especially
3:29
since the power he's so good on the power play and the Bruins have been so Boston has been so bad on the power play
3:36
it's kind of a head scratcher as to why he hasn't uh he hasn't gotten an
3:41
opportunity more than the what was it three games that he got earlier this year before but not you know not much of
3:49
a not much of a look but uh I think he'll he'll get a look at
3:55
some point because uh you know he's he's uh he has earned it
4:02
um I think lel's a a little bit different I'm not sure he's earned it uh
4:07
but I think he will get a shot he's the first he's a first round pick he's
4:13
someone that uh you know they need to know whether whether he's going whether
4:18
he's going to be able to get up and uh and make it up top uh you know his his
4:24
play in Providence it's just you know I
4:29
I said this the other day that the mistakes he make he's making the same mistakes over and over again which is
4:37
discouraging in in that it's his third year as a pro and some of these mistakes
4:42
are the same things he was making in same turnovers and you know trying to do
4:48
too much by himself you know these are things that were evident in year one and
4:54
now we're in year three and they're still uh cropping up at times there are
4:59
times when he plays well when he's uh you know plays more of a team game uh
5:05
doesn't uh you know doesn't try to do too much um you know the Zone entries
5:11
where he tries to beat four guys I mean it's just you're not going to do it I
5:16
don't know if he was able to do that in junior hockey I I really don't but I I know you can't do it in the American
5:22
League and uh he keeps trying to do it so there's kind of a disconnect there it
5:27
feels like between you know what the coaching staff is uh telling him that he needs to do and be and what he actually
5:35
does uh so but having said that I think they will take a look at him because
5:43
they need to know you know is this a guy we uh we still have hopes for or or
5:49
should we uh should we give up on that I think at this point yeah they still have hopes for him so I think we'll see him
5:56
between now and uh and April now cam m talked about how you have to outscore your mistakes uh which I thought was an
6:03
interesting comment because there's a lot of veterans on the team right now who aren't outscoring their mistakes um
6:10
and and that's that's something I think as a young player if I'm a young player and I hear that quote I think well gez
6:17
you know Georgia merulo last year you get like six minutes uh and make a mistake and be and sit for you know the
6:24
half the second and all the third and I would think to myself like wait a minute like I make one
6:30
mistake and I get I get the plug pulled on me and you know these other guys are
6:35
are making mistakes all over the ice and and that doesn't happen now I know that that veterans get obviously a lot of
6:41
leeway but in this case it must be very frustrating for a young player to have
6:46
that the management have that kind of mindset when they they almost expect the young players to play Perfect
6:52
hockey yeah it probably is discouraging uh but until you give them a chance
7:00
to make those mistakes well you know what uh you know what are we doing here
7:06
why why are they not if if you call a guy up and he makes turns the puck over three or four times and you know just
7:13
doesn't uh doesn't look good then okay that's one thing but to uh you know kind
7:19
of uh preemptively say you know you know you can't make mistakes
7:27
well that's that's uh that doesn't seem like uh it seems backwards it seems
7:33
backwards yeah we've been we've been saying that quite a bit uh that I think
7:38
they do kind of handle the development of the young guys backwards it's like the the veterans have all the all the
7:45
leeway even though they're making mistakes and and the rookies you know make one mistake and they get benched
7:51
for it it really should probably be closer to the other way around whereas you know the rookies need to grow and
7:57
learn and how can they learn if every time they make a mistake they're getting benched um well it's
8:05
those those two guys and uh you know Matt ptra does not play a mistake-free game uh he turns the puck over uh you
8:13
know like uh like young players do and uh once in a while you know not so much I don't think
8:20
since he since he rejoined the team but you know he's not a they don't staple
8:26
him to the bench when he makes a couple of mistakes they they put him back out there and try and you know try and work
8:31
your way out of that so uh I don't know it's a it's a it's a
8:37
head scratcher why uh why Merk hasn't uh hasn't gotten a shot and and you know
8:44
even lysel the uh the fact that you know they could
8:51
have taken a look at him more than they have they they gave him that one game uh
8:57
even in that game he turned the puck over and in in the neutral zone and sat
9:02
out a couple of shifts after that I mean they they uh they were right on that you
9:08
know they jumped right on that turnover uh and you know I wouldn't say I I think
9:14
his uh he was okay in that game I I think you know he he helped uh you know
9:21
his play led to a goal I think on his first shift and that's great but you know overall in the in the game he you
9:28
know he wasn't uh you know he didn't make a a case for uh that he had to be
9:34
in the lineup the next uh the next night uh and they sent him back so but like I said I think I think we'll
9:41
see him at at some point between now and the end of the season you know Mark celik was signed
9:49
three-year deal by the Bruins which I thought I didn't love just because I don't love the term on a fourth liner
9:55
but what does that say about some of the guys like Riley Durant and Trevor countar and John foni guys who are
10:02
probably projected as bottom six or fourth line players and does that say
10:08
that they aren't real keen on them are they going to be AHL lifers or how how do you think their development's coming
10:14
on well what I think that's saying is that those guys are not even close to being NHL ready they are miles from
10:22
being ready right you know celik he is what he is uh a fourth liner
10:30
he he's he's a he's an NHL player at this point those three guys you mentioned they're not they may get there
10:37
at some point but they're not there now uh so you know
10:42
I and C cellic does things that those guys don't do you know the fighting and
10:48
the physical play you know Farinacci Duran and uh and countar that's not who
10:53
they are uh they're not going to fight you know some of the heavy that Castell is taken
11:00
on so they uh they're kind of in a different Niche I would say than uh than
11:06
Castell but they have a ways to go and and you know a ways to go to to even be
11:13
considered for a callup I think and they may I I wouldn't count on all of them
11:19
ever getting a call up you know one or two of them might but all three uh I wouldn't uh I wouldn't go that far at
11:26
this point so uh turning attention now to the
11:31
defense a little bit uh you know the Bruins have been banged up a little bit with uh Charlie McAvoy out and hampus
11:37
lindome out and and now Brandon kylo has the illness um and Michael Callahan's
11:42
filled in pretty admirably and and O was kind of a NHL AHL guy um but there's a
11:50
couple of guys in Providence that were interested in Frederick brune is one and Jackson Edward is the other do how is
11:57
their development come along and do you see those guys potentially getting a
12:03
shot at the NHL next season I I think it would be a stretch
12:08
to expect that next season I don't think either one of them is is far enough along for that to happen uh brune has
12:16
taken a step this season he he's improved quite a bit uh a year ago uh at
12:24
this time uh he was just starting to gain traction he
12:30
had a slow start as 20-year-old kids do in the American Hockey League it's it's
12:35
a tough League MH they're playing against men they're not playing against teenagers anymore and it's tough but he
12:43
uh he's taken a step this season he's he's been uh you know I feel like there
12:50
was somewhat of a Mis Mis uh misperception about what he is coming
12:57
out of Junior Hockey where put up a lot of numbers he's not an offensive defenseman he's not a shutdown
13:04
defenseman he's a two-way guy somewhere in the middle you know having a good
13:10
year in Providence you know as uh as a two-way player um but he's not a I don't
13:18
see him ever playing on the power play or anything like that uh he can play on the on the penalty kill but he's uh you
13:25
know he's made strides Jackson Edwards Jo just getting started just taking baby steps uh you
13:33
know I didn't watch him a lot in the only time I saw him in London was in the Memorial
13:40
Cup but apparently there's this idea out there among the the fan base I think
13:45
people who watch the OHL that he's a tough guy uh boy I'm sure not seeing that uh
13:53
you know he's he's playing against men and uh you know
13:59
he's not scaring anybody nobody now down the road can can
14:06
he develop into you know kind of a you know a physical uh you know guy crease
14:12
clearing guy although you you you don't see crease clearing guys anymore no I can't really get away with that now get
14:17
penalties right unless I guess you could call zidor a crease clearing guy
14:24
yeah yeah yeah you know Jackson's got a ways to go he's uh you know I I think uh he's you
14:31
know he's not in the lineup every every night it's like every other game he
14:36
plays but they're bringing him along and uh you know I think they think he will
14:42
play at the NHL level you know but it's going to be he's going to
14:48
have to put in some time you know you look at Michael Callahan I mean you look at that game last night
14:55
uh he was the best defender def defenseman the best
15:00
defending defenseman that they had in the lineup he def he just defends you
15:06
know you can say that he's limited he's not you know he's not going to give you
15:11
much offense but boy he defends he he he does and uh what's he 25 years
15:18
old you know played in college four years in college and now I I don't know
15:24
this is his third year maybe in Providence it takes time yeah the two
15:29
guys we we talked about previously are both I don't know 20 21 years old they're going to have to put in their
15:34
time too before they are really uh guys that you know you would uh you would say
15:41
going into training camp Hey this guy has a shot he might be able to do it they're not there yet I don't I don't
15:46
see them you know I don't see that being a
15:51
possibility next season uh I'd love to be proved wrong but I just don't see it right now yeah now Michael D Petro has
15:59
had a really good year past Brandon busy uh Allstar uh really coming along and got
16:05
the call up didn't get a game but he got the call up recently now he's a group six UFA coming up um you know what do
16:14
you think the plan is for him is he you know could they potentially dangle Corpus at the end of the year and say
16:20
you know what we give D Petro a chance or is know where do you see him
16:26
fitting I I would say that if they're smart they're talking right now about an extension for him so that he doesn't get
16:33
to group six right and uh you know another year in Providence
16:40
next year I I wouldn't uh I wouldn't I don't know I don't know if
16:46
Corpus Alo is tradable with his contract um right true and he's been you know
16:51
he's been good this year but I mean you look at what the goalie Market is and
16:57
you know I I don't know I don't know why anyone would come calling to the Bruins
17:03
to say we gota give us corpy we got to have corpy he's a he's a good NHL backup
17:10
that's what he is and you know overpaid in you know at this point in Boston yeah
17:17
you you could say that but he's reliable you know what you're getting he's been good this year I I think uh I think that
17:24
trade's worked out well for for the Bruins uh yeah DPO you know I'm not sure
17:29
he's a I think he's he's a number kind of a classic number three goalie in an
17:35
organization yeah so the guy you have in Providence can he come can he come up and play some games if needed yeah he he
17:42
probably can but uh you know I I think right now it would
17:47
be a stretch to to plug him into a backup role in the NHL and think that uh
17:53
you're all set at that position what what do you think happens with Brandon busy at the end of the year
18:00
well I think as much as I would uh like to see him stay with the organization because I
18:07
I like him I like him very much person personally he's a great kid uh you know
18:15
that business at the beginning of the year with he's starting oh it looks like he's starting the year in the NHL he won
18:21
the second you know the backup job and then you know the rug gets pulled out
18:26
from under him not only by Swan signing but they bring in another guy from
18:32
Vancouver that you know another goalie so I I think
18:38
that that uh has you know cast a shadow on his year this year he he hasn't been
18:44
the same the last couple games he's been good you know kind of back to his old
18:49
form but I think that that business at the start of the year really shook him
18:55
and really you know sh not shattered his confidence but shook his confidence and
19:02
it's been months now trying to trying to rebuild that uh so I you know
19:10
frankly I I expect him to move on at the end of the year and somebody you know get an NHL contract somewhere someplace
19:17
else right and May and maybe that's what he needs at at this point uh as much as
19:23
I would like to see him stick around so to recap there's a huge gap between the
19:29
Bruins roster and their Prospect pool so what do you think I mean what do they do
19:34
going forward if there's really not a ton or if at all anything in the
19:40
pipeline well they're got to make smarter decisions uh in in free agency
19:49
uh you know the zadorov and and lindol let's face it those two signings to this
19:56
point have been a disaster a dister F Well correct know
20:03
uh yeah I mean you're essentially paying 8 million bucks for a third line center right now yeah so that's not exactly
20:10
what you're looking for no not at all uh Lind you have to be smart in in
20:17
uh let's face it there's a limited amount of guys out there free agents
20:23
that you can sign and think that they're going to be difference makers those guys
20:28
just aren't out there right right they're not and uh so they're going to have to be
20:35
smarter they're going to have to uh you know I think they need to rebuild the
20:41
the prospect pool and you know by actually drafting people right instead
20:47
of trading trading picks yeah you know
20:53
I it's my feeling that they kind of need to I'm not saying they need need to sell
20:59
at the at the deadline and clean house and get rid of this guy and that guy what they need to do is make some smart
21:06
trades where if they think Trent Frederick is not gonna sign with them
21:11
then you got to trade him and what do you get for him I I don't know I don't know you get draft
21:18
picks or a draft pick maybe a prospect somebody's you know distressed
21:26
uh asset from team that maybe a guy who's didn't quite turn out the way that
21:33
team thought when when they drafted him but maybe Boston thinks they can get more out of him you know so I would
21:42
think a strategy like that where you know stockpile some picks and make sure
21:48
make sure that you make good selections
21:53
you know I think uh the 2015 draft comes up all the time
21:59
right 10 it's 10 years ago now for God's sake but they're they're paying the
22:06
price for that and for uh for trading picks in the subsequent years that's why
22:12
you know that's why they're in the the spot they're in so smart smarter trades smarter signings
22:21
uh I think they should be looking two years down the road this business about
22:26
we want to contend every year well you know I want to win the lottery too
22:31
but it ain't happening don't we all yeah uh you know kind of take a step back and
22:40
uh you know I don't think they have enough good players that they can uh I
22:47
think you know Target a couple of years from now and
22:52
maybe you know kind of rebuild the roster with an eye toward that instead of you know damn it we got to contend
22:58
for the Stanley Cup this year next year right that's just not realistic and
23:04
that's when poor decisions come that's when poor decisions come exactly right and the fan base doesn't want to hear it
23:11
right you know the the fans let's face it
23:16
uh they're spoiled especially yeah you know I can say this I or maybe I can't
23:22
but I'm an old guy yeah Young The Young fans they have no idea what
23:29
what uh how bad it could be okay they have no idea because because the Bruins
23:35
have been good you know so I mean the fans uh kicking and
23:42
screaming about you know being Stanley Cup contenders that's that's just not realistic uh no every year right it's
23:49
been pretty good the last few years and sure now uh you know I think uh they're
23:55
going to pay the uh pay the price here they are paying the price sure well Mark we appreciate the Insight
24:01
in your time it's great to have you on and uh we love following you on on X you gave us a good Insight well thanks I
24:08
appreciate that thanks for having me yeah absolutely uh take care of yourself
24:13
thanks a lot Mark too all right that was Mark diver who gives us some insight on the prospects
24:20
uh you know Smitty uh just to kind of recap what uh what is your take on that
24:26
my my take is this like the prospect pool is even you know
24:32
further away from being helpful than people even want to admit you know what
24:38
I'm saying like we knew it wasn't great and everybody else tells us it's not great yeah uh but still there was a
24:44
couple of guys in there that we thought you know why isn't this guy getting a chance why why isn't this guy getting a chance yeah well it seems as though it's
24:51
rightfully so that they just yeah I mean Mark uh he sees those guys all the time
24:59
uh and and he would know better than anyone so if Riley Duran and the Trevor countes and the John Farinacci you know
25:06
aren't getting you know aren't getting a look uh he says it's because it's deserved and and he would know he's been
25:14
around the game a ton for a long time and and um yeah it it kind of makes it
25:22
uh Dawn on you it it there's a realistic that it's uh you know it's
25:28
not great we didn't think it was great but it might be worse than we thought sure which um you know
25:34
isn't doesn't make you feel good about the the thing no for the future
25:41
so you know it really does make you think do the Bruins really have
25:47
to be smart here and focus on you know
25:53
the future and selling off guys that aren't going to be part of your you know your fure future or you can't resign
25:59
them you have to look to get rid of those guys and start bringing some Assets in uh to kind of rebuild this
26:05
thing stop trading away first round picks you know for a team that's unlikely to contend in the next couple
26:12
of years you know do you reconsider maybe trading a guy like Brad Martian
26:18
because you know you're not going to win a cup while he's you know the last two
26:24
three years here um you know does that make you rethink that thing and and try to bring some you know new
26:32
blood and and some prospects and picks into the organization like they have a
26:38
lot of work to do they do a lot of work to do he's right like 2015 kind of killed them because that was three NHL
26:46
players that you missed on you know you got one one and a fourth of NHL players
26:52
out of that and now the guy's not on your team anymore and you signed a guy for more money who's producing less
26:58
right and lost the other guy for no assets and lost the other guy for no assets so you're you're not really doing
27:05
well uh overall when it comes to managing your assets managing the cap
27:10
you know bringing bringing in prospects finding the right prospects picking guys
27:17
for your style of play like they're doing it all wrong so to me that really
27:23
says that a change should be made at the top and we've talked about before but
27:28
unless they miss the playoffs that change isn't coming not coming so really it's time for them to miss the playoffs
27:34
that change needs to come they need to reset the whole thing and then like he said maybe focus on a few years out you
27:41
start building for a few years out you get rid of some contracts that are going to be up in the next year or two recoup
27:47
some assets that you can maybe trade for people or picks or however you want to do it but come up with a plan for you
27:55
know 2026 or seven instead of you know trying to focus on the next year because
28:01
it's just not going to happen no and you know what Thursday night when the winter Peg just come in Kyle Conor gives you
28:07
another reminder of the 2015 NHL draft and his 29 goals or the hell he has this
28:14
year um you know one of the really good young stars out there yeah um could have
28:20
had him uh all right seven chirps you should have had them seven chirps is

28:39
brewing for new beers and events chirp one is Nikita zadorov actually one of the leaders that
28:45
Boston really needs I mean it's weird to it's weird to
28:53
say it um you know with them being here for 52 games yeah but he might be yeah he
29:03
might be he might be um he was one of the few guys in that travesty in Buffalo
29:09
that actually did something towards the end like and was it uncalled for
29:14
probably was it dumb probably um but I didn't have any problem with it at all
29:20
gave JJ petka a little you know how do you do towards the end um you know when
29:26
it was a icing or an offside or whatever it was I don't even know yeah um and
29:31
gave him a little something and PKA came back at him and then he and then he dropped the gloves and like you want to go little man I will pound the [ __ ] out
29:37
of you sorry John almost did but um you
29:43
know I think they need that kind of fight and then he's talking about I didn't come here to not make the
29:48
playoffs I came here to make the playoffs which is another thing I like you know he's talking about you know
29:54
it's not about oh you know we need to be better as a group and you know we're all
30:00
trying to find our game and you know it's disappointing when we don't start no he's like no I didn't come here to
30:05
not make the playoffs I came here to play playoff hockey yeah that's what I that's what we should be focused on and
30:11
I like that so yeah um is he a leader well he shouldn't be but no because he's
30:18
brand new to the team but yeah he might be and and um you know there's worse
30:25
things to say worse things to follow and look people want to crush the guy about how he's been playing um and I would say
30:33
overall after the first you know month month and a half he's been pretty good he's been okay he's he's a plus nine
30:40
yeah I mean look there's been a lot of that and tyon pointed it out like he's
30:46
plus eight or something with the goalie pulled so so that's a great stat yeah so
30:53
he's really more like plus one yeah but still on this team one when the team is
30:59
minus 25 yeah um still says something people can [ __ ] on him all they want
31:05
yeah after the first you know after the first you know month and a half or so
31:11
he's been pretty good he's been one of your better defensemen um
31:16
so I I think he'll be fine and he he may end up
31:22
he may end up before all said and done here he may end up with an a in a sweater and producer Connor wants to
31:28
jump in and uh say something here is is his plus minus so good because he spends
31:35
like a quarter of every game in the penalty box or what well maybe I mean maybe they when they he's in the box
31:41
when they score I don't know I don't know no because the plus minus doesn't uh isn't affected by power play yeah and
31:49
penalty killing but he's off the ice like if he was on the ice more I think that's what Conor means yeah like well
31:54
he in the penalty yeah he's in 150 minutes yeah yeah yeah well like the other night
32:01
though he got two and two and 10 but like 10 doesn't count really yeah so I
32:10
mean I don't know I think he's been okay like I he's not worth the money but I think he's
32:16
been okay I think he's I think he's been I think he has settled in to a third paer dman which they're overpaying for
32:24
so yeah I mean you have it yeah I I think ideally that's that's
32:31
what you where you would want him and yeah they did overpay cuz he really probably should be getting like three and a half right you know and he should
32:38
be playing on the third pair and he should be destroying guys like he does from time to time now right um we were
32:43
asking before where the when when the hitting was coming and he's doing that now I mean people he is for whatever
32:48
reason don't want to acknowledge that but he's doing that now he does lighting people up now um he does so and he
32:56
polies the front of the net and he's face it he's like he's a scary dude he
33:02
is oh he is yeah you know I think come playoff time when you can get away with
33:08
a little bit more in front of the net I I think that's his time to shine baby
33:14
but um they won't get there as much as he wants them to um you know I don't see
33:20
it happening but um you know maybe maybe the signing in the end um it whenever
33:28
they do make the playoffs will uh will prove Sweeney correct right gu like that
33:34
he also had that sneaky little comment about Montgomery saying demri orov talked to him about how Monty was and
33:40
then he's like I we didn't really see it yeah and um you know it's kind of stepping up for his teammates there kind
33:46
of saying like wait a minute let's not put all the onus on the players right like guy wasn't what we thought I
33:52
thought he was coming in so there's something different there um so yeah I mean said some things and he's done some
33:59
things that kind of have you know made him look like that he's at least a team
34:05
guy andan he was sticking up for his guys he'll certainly stick up for his guys physically yeah um and he you know
34:12
he hasn't been playing that bad he's just he hasn't he's just overpaid for it and look goes up seven million bucks
34:19
then it doesn't look that bad that looks better better yeah it doesn't look that bad in the grand scheme of things after all but I'll tell you what if they make
34:26
the playoffs and he acts has a playoff like he did last year yeah then no yeah
34:31
a lot of that goes away yeah now you gota now somebody has to yeah who can perform say sorry to Sweeney I I don't
34:38
know who it will be probably should Daddy is your daddy chir to David ponak named League's
34:46
number one star uh is he getting the credit he deserves for playing extremely well
34:51
lately where he has like 18 points in his last eight games he has four three-point games like
34:58
he has really stepped it up and the amount of hammering he got and continues to get when the team doesn't do well
35:05
mean he's gonna get that because look he's not the type of Bruins guy Bruins fans like no you know he's not gonna hit
35:12
guys through the glass and all that other stuff but he's supremely talented
35:17
and he is again above a point per game player and he putting up points now on a
35:24
on a team that's flawed and without really a center who worth a damn he's
35:29
putting up points on a team that can't score yes I mean he put up points team
35:35
that couldn't score he had aund what 110 points and Brad Martian had 70 73 I
35:40
think it was or something yeah or 67 like was yeah it was ridiculous it's like I mean talk about
35:47
MVPs if if you know if he if he wasn't on the team last year they're awful you
35:53
know historically it's the same this year like if he wasn't here how bad
35:58
would this team be oh my God I mean Jesus so bad so bad yeah I don't think
36:05
he does get the credit I think he gets a lot of the blame look and and sometimes it's deserved because he's the face he's
36:11
the face of the team he has the puck a lot he turns the puck over a lot but
36:16
again with creative guys and you see it through the league it's not just on the Bruins all the top players turn a pck
36:22
all the time if you watch if you if you watch the rest of the league and you look at the stats
36:28
all the Superstar players pretty much turn it over a ton because they have it
36:33
all the [ __ ] time all the time they play all the time they have it all the time and they're making trying to make creative plays and so that comes along
36:42
with the territory look are some of his turnovers egregious and you wish you wouldn't do it sure yeah but yeah you
36:49
know that's the case with a lot of guys um could he clean it up and be better in those areas yeah he could but at some
36:57
point you got to say I'm going to live with it because he puts up 110 points and 40 goals every year or 40 goals and
37:03
100 points or whatever you want to call it whatever you want to say um and
37:09
you're gonna have to live with it and that's the way he plays and and he's one
37:14
of the best players in the league yeah you know and that's that's comes with a
37:20
territory like that's that's what you get from him that's what you get from from good players so yeah um yeah I
37:27
think he's he takes a lot of the blame um when he shouldn't um and he probably
37:32
should be getting more credit now when he's playing well and and the team's you know kind of fighting their way back in
37:38
here a little bit with the exception of Buffalo I tell you when you look at the NHL giveaways leaders number two is
37:44
Nathan McKinnon yeah number number six is Nikita kucherov uh and then you have
37:51
um Pak is down to 17 yeah then there Miner at 20 you know Ma at 25 I mean
37:59
it's it's guys who play a lot have the a lot I mean this is what I'm saying yeah
38:04
yeah so you're right and panak again is on Pace for 100 Point season on a team
38:10
that's not great and can't score yeah and uh may not even make the playoffs and he's he may have 100 points yeah uh
38:19
chirp number three Jimmy Murphy on the sick podcast the ey test says that the Bruins should trade Jeremy Swan before
38:26
July 1 should they or would they um I've said it before and I'll say
38:34
it right now again um I'll go on record I would trade anybody on this team in
38:40
the right deal yeah so would I trade Jeremy Swan yes if I could get the right
38:47
guy back in trade I would trade him will they absolutely not they will not they
38:52
won't they won't admit that mistake no not in a million years not this early and look as especially not since he's
38:59
started to play better over the last right two three weeks right you know that now that he's I won't say living up
39:07
to the contract but starting to play better no they're not going to cut bait now because people are still looking at
39:13
you know they'll just look at the stats he's got an 895 he's he's 16 and 17 his
39:18
goals against is over three you trade him now you're trading low you're selling low when when his value is down
39:25
you're not going to trade him now you trade him after a VZ season Don Sweeney
39:31
that's when you trade Lena salar after the VZ season you don't wait another
39:36
season and then trade him for a fourth liner and a and a and a backup
39:43
goalie you trade him when he's after his great season that's when
39:50
you pull the trigger so that's it yeah they're not trading swinging now no no
39:58
no um chirp number four five realistic trade wishes from each of us guys do
40:04
your homework not really no okay I'm gonna give you five guys okay maybe five
40:10
I'm gonna get give you some names right now I I'd like to see the Bruins potentially I looked and then I got
40:17
sidetracked and I and I uh go ahead you go ahead okay first first guy was the
40:22
guy I mentioned in the podcast uh post game and that's Alex tuck of the Buffalo
40:28
Sabers BC guy know really good forward underrated player was with the Knights
40:35
now with the Sabers uh I think it' be a really good fit with Boston now you as
40:40
you mentioned yes what could they give to get him nothing no idea nothing but I
40:46
do like Alex Tech I like Alex te a lot too yeah second guy I had was Travis
40:52
kkny like he puts up a lot of points on a Flyers team that's eh I mean better
40:57
than they were but um they might be look you know if they start to fade away in
41:04
the playoffs here playoff structure you know maybe you can throw something out of Travis connecting who's a point
41:10
getter I mean he's a guy who picks up a lot of points scores scores goals he's a
41:15
good player and he plays hard all the time plays hard yeah and that's a culture changer kind of guy I think yeah
41:21
you would be more of a guy who compete level would be you know at the utmost
41:27
yeah that's that's another guy though yeah I don't know what you have I don't know what you have I mean you're
41:33
talking with kcy you're talking about at least probably a first round pick and you know yeah I mean do you do that I
41:40
mean that's the other thing do you do that for for a Travis connect me uh I
41:46
probably not just because I I I don't think they're one guy away that's that's
41:52
the problem I have with like going out and getting you know one guy it's just it's
41:58
not enough and I I think I I personally would rather go into free agency and see
42:06
if you could convince some guys to come as like a package deal like I'll I like
42:12
go out and try to get like two or three guys and convince them all to come at the same time kind of like Chara and
42:18
Savar like let's let's really change this thing up and see if you can
42:23
convince some guys to do it because you can't afford to give assets away it's like the same thing with the Patriots
42:29
right now people are talking about trading for AJ brown or trading for Tyreek Hill or trading for this guy or
42:34
that guy and it's like don't trade away assets for a wide receiver just sign a
42:41
wide receiver in free agency you have a b zillion dollars and then use your
42:47
picks to sign more you need more than one wide receiver you need a bunch of guys so it's the same with the Bruins
42:54
you need a bunch of guys you don't need guy so if you're if you're talking about
43:01
trading for a guy who you're going to have to give up a first and whatever I I just I don't think that's a good idea if
43:07
you can get away with trading for a guy and giving up Charlie Coyle and you know Tren Frederick then fine but you know I
43:16
I just I I don't want to see them giving up assets for um for guys who you know
43:22
may move the needle a little bit but probably not enough yeah how about I how about a Ricard Raquel if he was if he
43:29
was available yeah I would I would be interested in that he he's probably more of you know in their neighborhood which
43:36
is probably like a second or a third um that's probably more guys that I was
43:42
looking at I can't remember actually and then Brian Russ is another guy with the Penguins was 19 gos he's 32 but if
43:50
you're looking for just a guy maybe for this run right here who's not going to maybe cost a lot of assets
43:57
um you know maybe look at him and then there's what about uh what about
44:03
bringing your buddy Bert back Tyler bzi BS he's making five and a half four
44:09
four years so he'll be have three more years of five and a half I would consider Bert because I I
44:17
think he is an underrated passer I think he had a little chemistry with posano um so yeah that I would be I
44:26
would be interested in that that five and a half is a little Rich for my blood still with him yeah because he's never
44:33
really put up a ton of points so I wouldn't I would probably want Chicago
44:38
to take some of that salary um but that probably means you have to give up a little bit more so
44:43
right um I don't know how that all fits together I'm of the opinion right now
44:49
that they shouldn't be giving things away they should be trying to give guys away themselves right to get uh other
44:57
assets back yeah um you know I don't want them wasting cap space on fringy
45:06
guys I would rather them shoot for bigger game than that yeah I mean that's
45:12
I guess that's true um I do I I like Bert for the same reasons you did he's kind of a defensive liability yes which
45:19
is kind of a problem but if if I could get rid of coil I I would consider that even more
45:27
absolutely absolutely um a guy a guy that I thought
45:33
of was um Yanni gourd with uh y gour yeah with Seattle because I think he's a
45:39
he's kind of a gritty um in- yourface type of guy I think if they were looking
45:44
for I I I don't know what his contract status is but he's a guy with some
45:49
Stanley Cup experience um that I think would go over well in the room I think it would help
45:55
the room uh he's a pain in the asked to play against yes um you know he's not a
46:00
huge Point producer but um I think he's a guy that could help kind of reshape
46:06
the culture of the team yeah so excellent with the lightning yeah in that in that bottom six they had yeah so
46:13
and he's and he's fast he's aest kind of so that's a that's the type of guy that
46:19
I wouldn't mind adding and I I think he would be kind of you know you wouldn't have to give up a lot to bring bring a
46:25
guy like that in yeah and what about uh a guy that's probably going to resurface
46:31
Tyler tooi Tyler Toole I'd be interesting because he can score goals so
46:38
um again I I don't know how what the cost is like it seems like around the
46:43
trade deadline the costs go up obviously um you know could you get to fulley for
46:48
a second I'm not sure yeah probably I would guess but yeah I think you
46:54
probably could at 32 years old I think you could um or maybe it's two seconds I don't
47:00
know um but I would consider I would consider that like I feel I feel like
47:06
um I feel like that he would he would be a value ad like he would help you more
47:12
than two second round picks would help you he would if you get what I'm saying yeah um especially the way this this
47:19
these people have drafted now if you bring in a new front office and you can convince me that can
47:27
draft well you know maybe I'm not giving up two seconds but well that's true you know under current regime I think um he
47:35
would be uh he would be a good addition and he's got three years left at six uh a
47:41
piece um but scores goals though I mean that's you pay for goal scores yeah you
47:46
do you know um do you have anybody else um there was somebody else but I oh
47:55
here we go um Mason McTavish from
48:00
Anaheim interesting one to me he was a guy that I saw that and he's having a pretty good year so I don't know why
48:08
Anaheim would deal him but he's a young Center he's 61 he's only 21 years old he has 12
48:15
goals and 14 assists 26 points on a on a bad team wow yeah um so he would be a
48:22
guy I would be interested in I don't know why he would fall out of favor but ESPN has as a potential um really yeah
48:29
as a guy who could potentially get traded so um that would certainly be a guy that I would be looking at and and
48:37
maybe that's one of those guys where you could trade them a veteran and a pick or something like that they need some
48:43
veterans uh on that Anheim team you need some young centers maybe he's falling
48:49
out of favor I don't know what the what the situation is with him but um that would be a guy that I would definitely
48:55
be interested in because he was a first round pick he's a center um so you know if he's falling
49:01
out of favor maybe that's the type of guy Mark is talking about where you know he's maybe on the outs I mean I like I
49:08
said I'm not I don't I don't know what his situation is there but hypothetically if he's on the outs there
49:13
that would be a guy that I would certainly wanna you know kick the tires on yeah I me we see with Patrick l that
49:21
sometimes you you find your place and he battled depression issues and so forth and then almost quit hockey thought
49:27
about it and now he's playing great with the Canadians he's super talented so maybe you know I'm not saying Mavs the
49:34
same boat but maybe he's a player like him comes to Boston and you know a
49:39
culture and a an organization that wants to win anyway uh another guy from out
49:46
west male grin with the San Jose Sharks is a center too who's who's put up some points and you know he's a little bit
49:52
more of a veteran guy um yeah but you know a playmaker he's he's guy I would
49:57
be I would be interested in as well um you know realistically I think you know
50:02
San Jose obviously is is years away so they'd be looking for something young in return I don't know if that's you know
50:09
prospects like iSell possibly or you know um I don't think I would trade ptra
50:15
in a trade for him but no no but maybe LEL or or possibly a merkulov or
50:21
somebody like that where where um you give them something that they can build with for the future and and you know you
50:28
get a a center who's you know um a playmaker and and can put up some points
50:35
yeah uh all right chirp five Tony Maz from felger and Maz or 985 The Sports
50:41
Hub calls the Bruin slow stupid and soft it's just accurate
50:49
yeah yeah I mean yeah they they are not a
50:54
fast team I think we all knew that going into the season um they their speed left
50:59
town for the most part you know Jake de brusco's um Taylor Hall yeah Taylor Hall
51:06
goes like zadorov is not fast no um you know hampus Lindholm is is not Elias
51:13
lindol is not fast um you know some of the guys they brought in like cast can
51:20
skate you know py can skate Max Jones can skate but look those are Fringe guys those aren't guys who are going to be on
51:26
the team playing 10 minutes a game if they if they are at all yeah um you know
51:31
your defensive core is is fairly slow you don't have any you know you don't
51:36
have any really good skaters back there you know lowai is is not slow but he's
51:42
not fast maoy is not slow but he's not fast kylo you know kind of the same like
51:47
they're none of those guys are you would consider fast they're fine um but no one
51:54
would say like oh Carlo's like a great skater you know makavo like they're not great skaters they're not fast they're
52:01
not game-changing speed or anything like that um so their team speed is is slow
52:07
they're slow uh and stupid clearly because they are towards the bottom and in penalties so they're un totally
52:15
undisciplined overall so stupid yes and soft like that's the one I probably
52:21
would say you know I don't know if they're necessarily soft
52:27
yeah um but he was going for the alliteration thing there so I can you know I can get behind that um yeah um I
52:34
I don't know if I would call them soft I don't think I would call them soft because you know your Catholics will
52:39
fight your Fredericks will fight and um you know zidor clearly will fight but
52:45
you know when it comes down to their Superstars playing against teams that
52:51
can beat them up are they soft yeah I I think they are to a certain degree they stand up to the physicality from other
53:00
heavy teams they don't handle it well um whether that's playing through the
53:06
checks or throwing checks of their own or whatever the coming out with pucks like winning battles whatever that
53:13
whatever that thing is yeah there's a degree of that to the team their starts
53:18
like their focus like all that to me um is related to softness even if it's not
53:26
you you know physically soft it's are they emotionally soft yeah I would I
53:31
would say they are so I mean that's part of why I think the core needs a needs a
53:37
shift needs a change needs a you know a jolt of some kind yeah because I think
53:43
they are kind of emotionally fragile they are and they yeah they lose Sevens
53:49
at home they you know they W come out to play in big games sometimes they don't show up when they need to show up it's
53:56
just like that's there's a softness because of those things that
54:02
that lingers true uh chirp six haven't heard much from general manager Don Sweeney who's
54:08
working with Team Canada for four nations uh is it time for him to actually say something or to to kind of
54:16
you know just make his presence felt a little bit here because it the Optics and and I know he's Pro he's doing his
54:22
job still and all that but the Optics just seems strange and and with him in
54:28
all the reports of him and focusing on Team Canada and his team kind of needing
54:35
something some sort of management to it yeah like just just seems it just seems
54:42
even more frustrating yeah he hasn't spoken in a while and he is busy with Team Canada I
54:50
think that's I think that's clear and should he be busy with Team Canada and
54:56
not and and no he shouldn't be he should be focused on the Bruins right now right and that's this is why it's clunky this
55:02
is why it sucks I mean as much as people wanna [ __ ] on Charlie McAvoy or someone
55:10
else uh for either playing in the four nations or pulling out like pulling out
55:15
of the four nations like he's all involved with the four nations and he's getting a free pass for the damn thing
55:22
like do your damn job dude yeah like what what the hell have You' been doing right you know yeah um so yeah I think
55:30
he he gets a free pass with that and I think he should be addressing some of what's going on
55:38
here with the Bruins whether it's you know we need to be better or just like
55:43
they don't like to talk it doesn't seem like Neely and Sweeney really uh unless they have news
55:52
right um right there's no real like status like uh yeah there's no like
55:58
status of the team kind of right yeah and I think that should happen more I
56:03
mean maybe he thinks the the Press is getting it from the coach and that's part of the coach's job which I I guess
56:09
it is to a degree but look if you're Sweeney and Neely and you're the ones pulling the strings as far as who's on
56:15
the team and not on the team and who's getting called up and not getting called up and who's on the roster and not on
56:20
the roster and and possibly who's playing and not playing and who's scratched and not scratched like you be
56:28
the one answering for some of that [ __ ] like I don't and I don't know whether he's how deep his hands are and you know
56:35
who plays night in and night out but if you know Montgomery hinted at the fact
56:41
that Sweeney was the one who controlled the cups and he did he didn't wasn't
56:47
saying you know it was his choice so if Sween is the one that's controlling that stuff he needs to answer for some of
56:54
this [ __ ] like why aren't playing and Neil's out here with his you know you gotta outscore your mistakes comment
57:00
like you can't just drop that during a Bruin's Gala event you know right yeah
57:06
on the red carpet and then not have any kind of follow up you know it's you
57:12
could say whatever you want when you walk carpet because you take a picture and then you walk away yeah you do so
57:19
yeah yeah I feel like they the front office needs to answer more for some of the things that have gone wrong with
57:25
this team he's getting I mean look he's not getting a pass from us but he's getting a pass from some people you know
57:32
a lot of people are blaming it on the players you know some people are blaming it on Monty um I mean Sweeney is starting to
57:40
hear it now heard the fire Sweeney chance from the fans you know a little while back and since since then I think
57:47
what are they 101 and one at home something like that 10 101 I think yeah so they've straightened that thing out
57:54
but they're 1 seven won on the road since Christmas yeah I mean that's [ __ ] atrocious that's terrible that's
58:01
terrible and I'll tell you it Thursday night against Winnipeg if that turns into like three nothing in the first
58:08
then those those chance are coming back especially after the Sabers loss sure are they are so that's going to rear its
58:15
ugly head at some point here um and I don't know what's going to happen to it but you know you know Craig breslo and
58:23
Sam Kennedy and people are on Sports Radio and you know this just seems like the other teams are on sports radio
58:30
shows and stuff just sort of answering to things I mean they they don't answer it completely but at least they're there
58:37
and they're doing that part of it the Bruins since Neely stopped 985 The
58:42
Sports Hub thing the Bruins are never on the thing no you know so you don't get
58:47
that Insight like you don't get a reporter to say like hey Don like what was that move or what you know how do
58:54
you really feel about these all of these you know Riley tuties and Max Joneses and and all these people
59:01
who are just haven't panned out how do you feel about Elias LOL what what is going on there like none of it so makes
59:07
it hard to you just draw your own assumptions and you if as an organization you don't want people
59:12
drawing assumptions you want to be able to at least get ahead of it yeah you would think do that I mean you would
59:17
think so but yeah I mean you go it goes back to you know what's the guy gonna say
59:24
it's going to be you know right yeah coming from him especially it's a bunch of double talk it's a bunch
59:30
of J gibberish that yeah you know it it's the same
59:35
cliches and so you know unless you're going to be real and talk about actual
59:41
you know issues with the team then they're probably better off not doing it because it's it's just you know it's
59:48
horrible radio in the first place oh it is in the first place so um it really is
59:54
and then you know I they probably don't want to go on there and get bombarded with with questions that they either
1:00:01
don't want to answer or don't know the answers to themselves for right or half an hour so right true they can come on
1:00:08
here if they like they can be nice be they welcome they are welcome here and
1:00:14
and Cameron uh Mr Neely you guys are welcome yes podcast you have an open
1:00:21
invitation anytime you want to come on you are welcome here and postgame lives
1:00:27
hop right into the comments right in you know what I'll tell you we should get our we should get all of our our folks
1:00:33
all of our our groupies together like just putting it out there just putting it out there like whatever you can like
1:00:40
let's get let's get you know neie and Sweeney on let's get neie on you know because at least neie will get pissed at
1:00:47
us and it might start a little back and forth yeah you know what I mean like he's a little hotheaded I mean push the
1:00:54
wrong button so am I yeah I know yeah I think it'd be great I think it' be each other yeah be great yeah I think I would
1:01:02
love that if if they you know come on post games and just a promo of neie chucking a water bottle and bouncing off
1:01:08
the side of Smitty's head yeah right off the Smitt yeah yeah great let me put my
1:01:14
hockey equipment on first before I that because you probably Dent my brain yeah let's do
1:01:20
that um all right chirp seven rumor on X that the Fenway Sports Group
1:01:27
might sell off the Penguins and actually buy the Celtics and Bruins as a package
1:01:33
so they can own the building and the Celtics and Bruins wow you think the
1:01:38
Jacobs would sell first of all and um I don't either and and I just don't think
1:01:44
they will because look it it is a cash ow yeah like not only they getting like
1:01:50
40 million bucks a year from the Celtics to lease the place but they're also getting all those sessions for every
1:01:57
event which is like 200 and some odd 280 events or whatever the hell it is a year
1:02:02
I don't know how much the Bruins uh organization uh as a whole is valued at
1:02:08
I believe it's a top five it's what six to seven yeah five six seven in that range I think it's a top five
1:02:13
organization in the NHL as far as as far as value goes right I don't know if it's like you know like the Patriots where
1:02:22
it's like five billion like it's not that it's probably you know one and change or two and change look if for the
1:02:28
Jacobs to sell Fenway Sports Group would have to blow them away so if it was worth one and a half they' probably have
1:02:35
to give them two and a half or three like they would have to D they would have to double that thing up in order
1:02:41
for them to actually sell it got the stats what's that Bruin the Bruins are
1:02:47
ranked fifth in NHL value MH at $2.7
1:02:52
billion as of December 2024 okay okay so there you go 2.7 so they probably have
1:02:58
to give him 3.7 or four in order for them to consider it yeah um and I think
1:03:04
if they were offering four the Jacobs might consider it because that's a lot of hot dogs that's a lot of homemade
1:03:12
meatballs it is yeah I think they would consider it if you're that's a lot of Long Island IC te's for $28 yeah I mean
1:03:19
you're talking about though them having to Shell out um because I think the Celtics are
1:03:25
probably a similar situation if not more valuable yeah they're more valuable so
1:03:31
you're probably talking about 10 billion dollar between the two things yeah to buy that buy that thing up y I have the
1:03:39
stats for that one too undefeated the Boston Celtics are fourth in the NBA
1:03:46
with a whopping value in October of
1:03:53
2024 of $6 billion so you go 10 billion double yeah so
1:03:59
you're talking about 10 billion 10 billion is the offer to to buy them both yeah um so yeah that's not happening I
1:04:07
mean they may buy the Celtics yeah um and I'll tell you what though I wouldn't
1:04:12
spend $6 billion dollar on a on a franchise and not have a building like that's just that's just not a great
1:04:19
you're gonna spend 40 million a year in leasing the building you play in after
1:04:24
you just spent six billion for the franchise it's just that is something to note which is crazy the Celtics are that
1:04:30
much more valuable without their own Building without their own building yeah they're double I think they could they
1:04:37
could uh they would buy it and then probably try to move them somewhere else they probably would they probably would
1:04:43
or maybe they'll put him right in Foxboro yeah you know let's just put that the whole complex let's put it all
1:04:49
there that'd be great2 you'll never you'll never get to Hanford
1:04:55
just be [ __ ] sitting there won't be able to go to super starburn shop anymore I'll move no more no more no
1:05:02

1:06:38
dropped the ball on that one however I did my homework and you rudely didn't
1:06:44
even ask so I'm Gonna Fill my spot today oh you yeah you you didn't chime in okay
1:06:50
go ahead with my five wish lists now I agreed with you on Ricard Raquel the
1:06:57
penguins are blowing it up he's a Winger who can score we obviously need a Winger
1:07:02
not Morgan geeky related in the top six right that's a flyer I would take
1:07:08
another one this is on the the higher end of the wish list but I would also hope that he gets resigned Brock besser
1:07:15
from the Vancouver conuts yeah is on the market that's somebody that I think the Bruin should sign this off season if he
1:07:21
makes it that far regardless the next one Jeff Skinner from the Edmonton Oilers he's been a
1:07:28
scratch things haven't really worked out you probably could get paid to take him
1:07:35
or get him for virtually free and he's been a proven scorer in the NHL before if you can get somebody
1:07:42
like that for free why not if you're the Boston Bruins Nick Robertson from the Toronto
1:07:49
Maple Leafs if you're thrown in the towel and you're willing to make a trade
1:07:54
in the division Nick Robertson's a 23-year-old pending RFA
1:08:01
who's kind of in the same spot that Morgan gigy was in Seattle has a talent
1:08:07
but needs more of some roster space to play which he would get that on a
1:08:12
retooling Bruins roster and then last but not least the Colorado Avalanche aren't done
1:08:20
and maybe they go fishing and you guys have stirred up some rumors and
1:08:26
thoughts before on somebody making their way to Colorado I won't get into that but one
1:08:32
of the players on Colorado that I could see them moving on from Casey middlest
1:08:38
stat they signed him after bringing him in from Buffalo things seemed to work out pretty well and this season things
1:08:45
took an opposite direction they made the trade for Martin nus to solve that
1:08:50
second line Center problem yeah and Casey middle stat has become an overpaid
1:08:56
third line Center and that sounds exactly like what Don Sweeny would do he
1:09:03
loves those guys yeah I could I could see the the middle stat thing working out if you traded marshand to uh to
1:09:12
Colorado you could get maybe middle stat and uh something back in return yeah maybe I
1:09:19
mean I I yeah Casey midd stat sure um that might be a guy what making like
1:09:26
does he is he making big money now though I think he's around five to six million yeah he okay
1:09:33
okay again if you know if if you can rid yourself of Coyle's contract yeah then
1:09:39
i' I'd open up to some of these guys I would but yeah but I think the coil contract is really becoming a kind of a
1:09:45
little bit of an albatross for you how many how many more years is see he's next year is his last year all right so
1:09:52
he'll be an impending free agent next season yeah so I mean I would look to get rid of his contract too but if you
1:09:59
can't you know you eat it for a year or you know yeah and then you know then
1:10:06
you're freed up from his money so it's not the worst thing in the world no no
1:10:12
no no I mean the year after yeah they can be in pretty good shape um any
1:10:18
beauties of Benders anybody to think of speak of um I mean I would have said
1:10:24
Morgan geeki was a beauty or David posar was a beauty because they both played uh
1:10:29
they both played pretty well but then the Buffalo game happened so I'm not really feeling good about giving anybody
1:10:35
a beauty after that no hunk of [ __ ] he had to sit through um as far as the
1:10:41
Benders Go I mean Jeremy Swan [ __ ] that guy you go producer Conor from the cheap
1:10:49
seats do do you know why it's extra salty right now this week Logan Thompson
1:10:54
just signed a six-year contract extension below $6 million and is laughably more successful than Jeremy
1:11:02
Swan this year yeah more than two million less makes
1:11:07
they seem to have the gold tender T you used to have I mean lingren and and Thompson are playing really well yeah
1:11:15
you know and to where that one of them could be lingren could be Expendable at some point but they're they're in the
1:11:22
shape you were in when you had allmark and swen yeah yeah it it feels like
1:11:31
Washington is doing things the right way and you're they are they are they they dug thems out of the depths of hell like
1:11:38
honestly like they were really good and then they were hitting that like we're gonna be bad now and all of a sudden
1:11:44
they hire the right coach and they make some tweaks and they get some right now like guys like protus and and McMichael
1:11:52
like younger guys are leading the team and guys like OSI and you know oetkin is
1:11:58
like in the back seat like just getting his goals you know what I mean the other the rest of the team ising well yeah
1:12:04
longterm ir and back long-term IR so they they were able to benefit from some
1:12:09
of that money too yeah um but yeah still they they did the right things with some
1:12:15
of these young guys that um they've kind of let flourish under cury there like
1:12:20
cus was like On The Fringe like he was decent but under Curry's been fantastic
1:12:28
great same with McMichael like more of an opportunity and he's been really good um they signed chiken so like they went
1:12:35
out and you know got acquired some players to uh to fill in some gaps you
1:12:40
know they still had Carlson who is kind of you know a a better version of makoy
1:12:46
currently um and so they've made some smart decisions smart moves and they
1:12:52
play hard for the guy and they brought in some guys who are you know difficult to play against yeah Pier Luke to brde
1:12:59
didn't hurt and and Dylan stro is leading the team of points right so like some guys that were maybe you know some
1:13:06
castoffs on other organizations like dub and and stro has kicked around a little
1:13:11
bit but um you know he he's given them kind of a new a new lease on life there
1:13:18
and and they really uh they really run with it then they got guys like Nick Dow and and mapani man P was a decent pickup
1:13:26
he's got 10 goals yeah you know so yeah I mean they they made some moves to to actually write the ship and now they're
1:13:32
one of the top teams in the NHL yeah uh when I thought last year beginning last year they were going to be one of the
1:13:38
Bottom Feeders they were going the opposite direction well they they were and then they they just surpr yeah kind
1:13:44
of a surprise playoff run and and have built off that this year yeah they have so kudos to them and the Bruins could
1:13:51
take a page out of there you know you Connor talks about Carolina but Washington might be the
1:13:58
might yeah you want to talk about retooling like they did it on the Fly they did so that's that's really what
1:14:04
you should be looking at is how did Washington do it I mean they have the Superstar Winger you have that like yeah
1:14:10
they didn't have really any centers because backom was hurt really good standout defenseman yeah Defan like
1:14:17
you've signed the goalie now which you know they did better than you but um
1:14:23
yeah you should be looking at them and saying we could do this if we do things the right way but yeah you know you got
1:14:30
to do things the right way and and you have to identify what you're looking for in players yes you have to put the
1:14:36
pieces together to fit correct I think that's where the Bruins have been yeah that's where they failed they have
1:14:42
missed week ahead for your Boston Bruins January 30th versus the Jets at home L
1:14:48
then February 1 versus the Rangers at home and then febru February 4th versus
1:14:56
the wild at home L the wild are 18 five and three on the road yes they are I
1:15:03
knew that and February 5th backto back at the Rangers H wow so your Boston
1:15:12
Bruins are heading into a really tough stretch uh right before the uh the break
1:15:17
and I think it's February 8th is the last game and that's Vegas so these five games here uh right
1:15:24
into the four nations break gonna be one and four going into the break one and five because they lost
1:15:31
to Buffalo they could be they they very well could be um hey please head over to our merch
