The Winnipeg Jets extended their winning streak to six games after a three-goal second period, including Colin Miller’s first goal as a Winnipeg Jet. The Jets were propelled by Cole Perfetti’s three-assist performance and Hellebuyck’s 27-save game. Winnipeg improved to 6-0-0 while the Blues fell to 4-3-0 after this game.

The Jets got off to a hot start and spent four consecutive games of their first five in the 2024-25 season at home. With scheduled ceremony nights and award celebration nights in the rearview mirror, the Jets began their biggest season test to date in St. Louis with a winning streak on the line.

The Jets found prime opportunities to score early on. Even at times finding the Blues’ defence blocking most shot attempts. Blues netminder Jordan Binnington kept the puck out of the net throughout the first 20 minutes of play giving his team the edge.

Jets forward Mark Scheifele would stabilize a pass from defender Dylan DeMelo and turn it into a clean look right in front of Binnington. St. Louis wouldn’t give an inch to the Jets as Binnington stopped Scheifele’s shot just a couple inches below the logo.

The momentum shifted when St. Louis forward Brandon Saad pounced on a loose puck in front of the net to put the Blues up 1-0. Robert Thomas would create space for himself up top and chaos was created in front of Hellebuyck to allow Saad to get his first goal of the season.

Saad’s first goal of the 2024-25 season was also his 500th career NHL point.

The Jets’ power play would get a couple of chances in the second period, but after consistently getting pucks on net, the Jets would tie the game.

Just minutes after the Blues killed off Ryan Suter’s penalty for tripping, Brayden Schenn was called

Neal Pionk would take a shot from the point which Nino Niederreiter would tip in just in front of Binnington. Pionk’s assist was his sixth in six games during the season for the Jets.

As time continued to wind down, the Jets would continue to up the pressure and it resulted in Nikolaj Ehlers connecting a pass to Cole Perfetti who then quickly passed it off to Colin Miller at the point to score a one-timer.

Miller’s goal was his first with the Winnipeg Jets since being acquired at the 2024 trade deadline and after signing a two-year contract extension with the team.

As the period was coming to a close, Kyle Connor would pot his fifth goal of the season as Dylan Samberg fed him on the left wall. Vladislav Namestnikov battled just behind the net and got the puck loose to Cole Perfetti. Perfetti then passed the puck to Samberg who was open and Samberg then fed Connor to score the insurance marker putting the Jets up 3-1.

St. Louis would open the third period letting the Jets know that they weren’t going to go down without a fight. Saad would pot his second goal of the game off a clean pass from Jordan Kyrou.

The Jets would not answer back the Blues’ final goal of the game, even with the Blues’ net being empty for the dying 90 seconds of the game, the Jets extended their winning streak to six games to begin the 2024-25 season.

The Jets continue their road trip against the Seattle Kraken on October 24th, 2024 with a 9:00 pm CST scheduled puck drop.

Opinion: How Superstition Helped Fuel Florida’s Back-to-Back Championships

There are plenty of storylines that can come out of the playoffs, but by far the most unexpected one this year was the Dairy Queen Saga that followed the Panthers for the final two series. Born from a viral photo and some coaxing by Brad Marchand, there wasn’t a game day that went by where […]
