1:20
Ben Bender Smitty and Mr mty bar and uh we also are on Bruins Benders at Bruins
1:28
Benders and we do all sorts of game updates during the season right now we're doing some line
1:34
combination comparisons and all sorts of fun banter going on there on the social
1:40
medias yeah people uh you know they want to know who the line what the lines are going to be come come the fall so yeah
1:47
throw it out there see what they think how the Bruins stack up with some division Rivals and then we'll go around
1:52
the league and uh yeah see how the Bruins stack up you know not too badly
1:58
honestly I think not too shabby and and really I would say the strength of their
2:03
team isn't their forward group I would say it's their defense and their goal tending so and we haven't touched on that at all
2:12
foreshadowing yeah from Smitty right there foreshadowing but uh there were some interesting banter about
2:19
dailyfaceoff.com puts on the line combinations and Matt potra is second
2:25
line Center and there was a lot of debate about ptra or coil there I would
2:30
love for potra to take that sun [ __ ] and wrap his arms around it m um because
2:36
I think the team will be better with Coyle as third line Center I agree but
2:42
um a lot of people still think that CeCe is the second line Center I don't know
2:47
if you'll get the same type of season from CC again hopefully I'm wrong yeah I mean there's there's a lot
2:54
that goes into that do you want coil to be your third line Center and kind of take that defensive role and if he does
3:00
that you know gets more defensive Zone starts does the offense come along with that probably not as much um but would
3:08
you rather have him in that shutdown role where he's going up against you know the barov of the world and the
3:14
other teams top lines probably um you know you're not going to leave that to ptra you're not gonna leave that to
3:20
Elias Lindholm so that's going to be kind of his job I would say and um so
3:26
maybe you want ptra to be the second line Center and and that line generates a little more offense and the coil
3:32
Line's a little more defensive minded yeah and and that's I I really think the
3:38
Bruins are focusing on defense and goal tending sort of across the board here
3:44
because they weren't really able to get you know another Winger Difference Maker
3:50
Winger and really improve the offense a ton so I think they're really focusing
3:55
on let's be defensive let's be disciplined you know let's have solid players to the lineup uh good Center
4:03
Icemen not not necessarily you know flashy Center ican but good Center icean
4:09
solid two-way players so we'll see if it works I mean typically as you saw in the
4:14
playoffs this year I mean you need highend centers who score tons of goals
4:19
and set up tons of goals and and that thing so not often does a team win with
4:26
just sort of defense and and you know good defenseman a goal you know good goalie and then you know just solid
4:35
offensive play I you know typically you have to have some you know a few guys who can put the puck in the net and and
4:42
score some goals so especially in today's NHL but you need difference Breakers you do on your team now uh I
4:50
think I saw statistic at one point during the playoffs it was basically like how many of the last Stanley Cup
4:57
champions like how many sty have they had on their team and teams don't win
5:02
usually with under three um stars on their team and the
5:08
Bruins I mean do they have
5:13
three maybe yeah maybe
5:20
maybe Mar I mean yeah not really so ponok yes but
5:27
after that like marshan maybe a few years ago he was uh and makoy no he's
5:33
not yet I don't think no I mean star I mean I guess you have the whole star
5:39
thing like stars like you know like stars stars Avalanche have you know Ma
5:47
McKinnon right you know um ranton you know
5:52
this and then you know your Edmonton obviously dry
5:58
cidal uh McDavid nen Hopkins I suppose Heyman I mean so yeah you know you got
6:07
to have talent to win how who would you rather have Evan buard or Charlie
6:13
makoy Charlie makoy yeah I would probably say I would probably say
6:20
makoy I I just feel like his defense when he's playing the right way
6:26
defensively is underrated I think he's probably a top five top five defenseman
6:33
in the league defensively when he's playing the way he can play I I'd
6:39
probably say that probably say that's fair I'd say that's fair when he's playing the right way when he's not
6:44
running around when he's not taking too much offensive responsibility right trying to do too much when he's playing
6:51
the way that he can play yes I would I would put him as a
6:56
top five defenseman in the league but you know he wasn't that last year um
7:01
certainly not and the year before he started to get away from it you know two years ago he didn't have the offensive
7:07
game but he was really really good defensively and he was a top you know top five top 10 Norris Contender so he's
7:15
got to get back to that he's got to get back to taking care of his own end first and foremost you're a defenseman first
7:21
and foremost and then worry about the offense and jumping into the play and all that [ __ ] and honestly I think it's
7:28
possible that Montgomery with giving him a little more leeway uh is has taken away from his
7:37
game rather than helped his game I would say yes and when he came into the league
7:42
I think you and I both thought that we wanted him to be Drew dowy essentially Drew dowy East want to be him to be kind
7:50
of kind of nasty good defensive defenseman you know contribute 40 to 50
7:55
points 60 point whatever it is uh along the lines of Dy and I think when he's
8:01
really good he's there yeah but when he's you know when he he slipped a little last year and I'm just hoping
8:08
that they find the the remedy to to that and it's not Jim Montgomery trying to
8:14
squeeze a little bit too much or or outside of his comfort zone yeah whereas Cassidy when Cassidy was here makab boy
8:21
was a top five to eight defenseman yeah he certainly was and maybe that's maybe
8:27
that's caring with zadorov maybe that that allows him to play his game and and
8:33
you know maybe that's something they'll look I'm sure they'll look at it because I sweny me mentioned it in one of the
8:39
press conferences that sadoro could possibly pair with makavo so um I'm sure that'll be that'll be looked at but uh
8:46
yeah they need him to uh to kind of find his game and get back to um what made him really good when he uh was a little
8:53
younger in the league do you think that zadorov or lorai is a better fit
9:01
H I think probably zadorov is a better fit honestly I think with lowai and
9:09
makoy both offensive uh lowai is a better offensive
9:15
player I think uh but they both take offensive chances so having two guys that take offensive chances you're more
9:22
likely to get caught I think was zadorov being more of a stay-at-home defenseman I mean he'll certainly join the rush and
9:29
he's been better at that in recent years so um you know that could be an added
9:34
element to his game but I I think he's probably a better pair for makoy at this point in time and I would put lorai with
9:40
Carlo and Lind home with with Peak and you you can even out those minutes if
9:46
you want to you can switch them around you can have lorai go down to the third player and play with Peak and get you
9:53
know maybe a little less minutes depending on how they're playing that particular night um but
9:59
yeah I mean they have some versatility they have some options there where they can move guys around and and pair guys
10:05
with different guys and and you know they should there shouldn't be much of a drop off from one guy to the next I mean
10:12
they're all big um they all have decent reach they can all skate so you know
10:18
they have a pretty deep maybe the deepest defense in the league I would say
10:25
maybe let's talk about it on seven shfs sponsored by Brewing Lobster brewing and
10:30
tasting room in downtown when socket Red Island specializing in small bats and logos it's open seven days a week and
10:36
you can use the C coupon code sports for 10% off your online order at lops
10:41
brewing.com follow them at lops brewing for new beers and events in chirp one lo
10:48
and behold do the Bruins have the best group of defensemen one through six in
10:53
the NHL yeah I'd be hard pressed at this point in time to think of another group
10:59
that's better than them I really would one through they would too I mean
11:05
there's other teams obviously that have a better one than you do maybe even a better two but one through six I don't
11:12
think there is I don't think so I'm I'm with you and I know that you know Bruins
11:18
fans you know obviously were very sort of you we criticize our team and we we
11:24
don't want to believe it sometimes but if you look at the rest of the league um it's particularly some of the teams
11:32
that they that they'll compete against in the Atlantic division I mean Florida just lost Montour and um you know Tampa
11:40
Bay has some aging defenseman there they got McDon back but they lose sergachev
11:45
yeah um you know so there's a lot of comings and goings and you the Rangers have a good
11:51
group lost Ean lson too lson too yeah yeah so yeah I mean it's I would say
12:00
Carolina lost lost peshi and uh and Shay I mean I I suppose uh and you know
12:08
Vancouver lost zadorov um and Cole right and Cole left
12:13
too Cole yeah you know Jersey maybe with Hamilton and Hughes and and now uh pes's
12:21
there and um yeah I mean they have a pretty good defense core so you could certainly put that group maybe with the
12:28
Bruins group group um and that group certainly is more offensively talented I think than your group is M um
12:37
currently um so you know they but I think the Bruins are right there as far
12:43
as as far as defense in the league I really do yeah and I do too and I you
12:49
know lyol playing with Peak and playing lesser minutes you could really see him
12:55
rebound and and play better uh with some of the taking off I think he probably
13:00
logs too many minutes um that might be part of it too and I think if you put
13:06
him with Peak you know just sort of plays 18 to 20 minutes instead of 24 to
13:12
26 especially if lowai continues to grow and and sidorov is able to play with
13:19
makoy I think it could really benefit hampus lenol and you could see him back
13:24
to where at least closer to where he was when he first came to the team yeah and
13:30
I feel like he maybe he'll get a little more uh offensive zone starts now that you have guys like zadorov and Peak um
13:38
you know who could play Heavy defensive minutes or or you know opportunities in
13:43
their own Zone um you know take defensive Zone faceoffs and that kind of thing uh it might free him up
13:49
offensively to to do a little more if he's not relied upon as much as he was
13:55
last year to um to be kind of the def of stoer yeah chirp number two Jeremy Swan
14:04
arbitration came and went the Bruins elected not to go to arbitration and nor
14:10
did Jeremy Swan so now we are at a no deadline period where the Bruins and Swan can try to Hash this thing out
14:17
they've said all along that they're working towards it uh I think both the
14:22
both sides had sort of a goodfaith effort to avoid arbitration and do a solid for the other so now now my
14:30
question is why isn't this done and what's going on yeah that's a good
14:35
question because it should be done and I don't know why it's going on I think they're still kind of hung up on what
14:42
his value is where he's where he sees his value compared to the other goalies in the league uh and the Bruins probably
14:50
see it differently look he hasn't been a number one star in the league like some of these other guys that have signed
14:55
some of these big money deals he's been splitting time hasn't played you know more than 45 50 games in a season so um
15:05
and some of these other guys that get that are getting the big money uh you know have have played more games than
15:11
him so that's probably where the the holdup is I would say I think they'll get it done eventually I think it might
15:18
probably come right up till training camp maybe even into training camp um
15:24
for him to get a deal done and you know we'll see how that all goes I don't
15:29
really love that option because you know guys that Miss Camp generally you know
15:34
get a nagging injury or something you know they don't is a groin or some other kind of thing so like that [ __ ] kind of
15:41
scares me a little bit sorry John but uh you know it's just it's just what's you
15:47
know what's probably gonna happen is they don't have a deadline now they don't have
15:53
anybody there's there's nothing to stop them from signing the deal but there's nothing to make them sign the deal
15:59
either now so what what's the next big deadline it's when training camp starts
16:06
so hopefully it gets done before that unless there's some kind of an offer sheet which you know there's a few teams
16:11
out there that could do that I don't think those teams really are in a place right now where they are as far as
16:17
building their own teams where it would make sense for them to go out and offer sheeta goalie and and lose a bunch of
16:23
draft picks to the Bruins um if if they sign the San away from the Bruins so I
16:30
don't think you'll see that and those usually aren't done just generally
16:35
unless it's like a Revenge thing um offer sheets usually aren't handed out
16:40
so it's unlikely but it's a possibility because both sides elected to uh to stay away
16:47
from arbitration yeah I mean you're looking at anywhere between like 6.8 and
16:52
9.1 of a what what an offer sheet would look like anything less than eight the Bruins would match I me think there's
16:59
any question about that um so any you know that means is would anybody give him nine and I doubt it so I don't think
17:06
the offer sheet is the deal but but I'm like you said the longer this goes on
17:12
and and I'm I'm almost thinking that term might be part of it because if I'm
17:17
Jeremy Swan I'm seriously considering taking shorter term deal um it maybe three or four years
17:25
betting on myself and when the salary cap Rises m then maybe I get 10 million
17:30
bucks a year the next if I play well maybe I get 10 million bucks a year three year four years from now yeah I
17:37
mean it makes sense yeah and his agent is kind of a hard ass in negotiations
17:42
right so I mean maybe that's what the agent's telling them to do look you know play play on a short-term deal and then
17:49
when the cap goes up you can cash in you know better on yourself and cash in right you
17:54
know then on the other hand you know if you get H or something like that you right might roll of dice sure it is a
18:02
roll of dice so you know maybe there's a middle ground there um that they the team and swayan can can find that's you
18:09
know benefits them both gives swayan some security while at the same time you know team gets to lock him up uh you
18:16
know a little bit into his prime so um yeah I just feel like it needs to get done it needs to get done it needs to
18:22
get off the table it needs you know Sweeney needs to get this wrapped up you know they need to come to terms here and
18:29
and get all this situated before training camp starts because it's just going to be a distraction to to
18:34
everybody to the team to swayman um while that's hanging over their heads so
18:40
they they really just need to get it get it settled sooner rather than later yeah I just I don't like I've I've always
18:47
thought about this with long negotiations like this like what do like the team says we want this and Swan says
18:54
I want this so then what happens like I don't understand like there must be like
19:00
no dialogue like we're here and you're here like what it's not like you talk every day like you I mean you'd be
19:05
banging your head against the wall like it's very simple we want you at this number I want this number so what
19:11
happens now like it's I don't know I I'm with you there I don't really understand
19:16
the whole negotiating thing and why it takes as long as it does like so you you
19:22
give an offer and then you're like all right we'll talk in a week like we'll talk in 10 days why can't you just be
19:27
like you know yeah have have a few days to think about it get back to me with a counter offer they do and then you say
19:35
okay give me a couple days they do and then you counter again and then like if
19:41
it's a few days each time like you should be done by now you should be you should be like what are you waiting for
19:48
like you should be yeah I mean I just I don't if if each time like you counter
19:54
you counter you counter you counter like at some point you're going to you're going to hit the spot where like both
19:59
happy I mean look at the team the team can offer eight and a half before it
20:04
gets a little messy and they have to you know drop guys down and play gymnastics
20:09
like they can only go to about eight and a half yeah and then anything over that and it becomes a little dicey well so
20:16
that's what the issue is maybe s like I want nine oh my goodness like nine is a
20:23
little absurd you know sterkin said he wanted what 10 and
20:28
the 10 and change or something yeah so I mean maybe he's thinking like I'm right in
20:34
that ballpark but there's also the point when these negotiations happen that Swan's setting the the next bar like for
20:42
goal tenders of the future so there's a little bit of a pressure on a player to not take a lower
20:50
you know salary because then guys going to negotiation tables next you know they
20:56
can use swayan as a standard so you can screw people sure uh when when doing
21:02
this so there is an obligation how much of that swayman believes in I don't know
21:08
but he could be thinking well I have sort of an obligation to take what I think is market value for the next group
21:14
in a guy like shurin so if Swan takes six and a half or whatever and sherin's
21:19
trying to get 10 like that might be a tough sell and you might be setting the
21:25
bar a little bit too low too but San still has this I'm not taking a discount
21:30
thing because of the arbitration he didn't like how it went down the last time I think he really likes it here but
21:36
I think Sweeney irritates him I do and I don't think you can deny that no I don't
21:42
I mean it certainly it certainly feels like that through the arbitration process that right yeah he was pissed
21:49
off about it and and the the way Sween handled some of the comments publicly I
21:55
don't think probably rubbed swing in the right way they certainly didn't rub the right way Jeremy Swan right if I'm
22:02
Jeremy Swan I'm probably more pissed than I am if I'm Smitty you know what I'm saying right yeah and spinny gets
22:07
pretty pissed yeah so that says a lot yeah people people have seen it right so so yeah I mean I I just I
22:17
feel like he probably holds that against him a little bit but at the same time you know he does like it here I think he
22:23
likes his teammates you know that's come through in his comments you know after the Florida series that you know they're
22:30
brothers and and so forth and he wouldn't want to play anywhere else and
22:35
all that kind of stuff so I I eventually think it will happen
22:40
but you know they're going through a little bit of uh you know I don't want to call it Growing Pains but uh you know
22:47
hunger pains or you know some other kind of pains menstrual pain the ass yeah
22:53
yeah really what it is becoming pains anyways yeah so uh they need to they
22:58
need to figure it out and get it done but uh yeah it's gonna be uh you know it's gonna be the number one question
23:06
that everyone's asked uh about this team until he signed you know what's everybody talking about with the brones
23:13
I mean everything else is pretty much situated right it's like what's happening with Swan forgot crying out
23:18
loud like why hasn't Swan signed what what what are we doing there that's so
23:24
distraction until it until the team and him can figure it out hard for me not to believe that they're further apart than
23:31
you think yeah because if they weren't that far apart you just feel like it'd be done right like so I I I feel like a
23:38
little uneasy that I I feel like it's a little further than you think and I don't know if Sweeny is going to budge
23:46
all that much and I certainly don't think San is so I don't at some point there's an impass like what what happens
23:51
I mean is this going to go into training camp is this hold out yeah like I mean
23:57
and then it just gets uglier an uglier yeah I mean what's what's worth having
24:02
him hold out and Miss games or taking him to arbitration right I mean
24:10
I I don't want him missing games I don't want him missing time I mean a hold out's probably equally as ugly as
24:16
arbitration is and like you said the injury Factor comes into play yeah the injury fact and then in arbitration at
24:23
least you know that's that's done you know he's on and he's on the team and you he's not missing games but if he
24:29
holds out then you're looking at you know Corp pasalo and and busy as your as your goal
24:36
tending that's terrible yeah that that could get you off to a bad start yeah so you don't want that so I mean that's
24:44
probably what Swan's Leverage is at this point sure and the Bruins Leverage is look we have eight and a half we'll give
24:50
you that but we're not giving you more than that we don't have any more to give unless sween's like no we're giving you
24:56
a seven and right you know I way apart like I don't know it's it's um it's just
25:01
irritating you know isting it's probably going to get done I'm still 90% sure it's probably gonna get done yeah it'll
25:08
get crying out loud like it's it is irritating uh chirp three development
25:14
Camp recap there were some bright spots Dean Loro makes his first appearance at development camp and showed some really
25:20
good hands he did mention though that obviously his frame needs to fill out some they get pushed around some and you
25:27
expect that 18 years old 6' s still a little lanky a little you know gangly
25:33
and so forth but showed some really good hands and some of the video I saw some good finishing ability like there is
25:39
ability there yeah he has ability and he and he did show good hands and he's and
25:44
he's good in tight Around the Net he made a few really nice moves on on goals I saw on some of the videos where he's
25:51
you know forehand backhand and you know intercepted a pass took it into the net and scored so um you know he's he
25:58
definitely has uh good speed and for a kid his size and um you know you would
26:05
like to see him fill out because I think he did lose some Puck battles to some smaller guys which you know as he gets
26:10
into the league you know you you really would want him to clean that stuff up and and be able to uh hold on to pucks
26:17
especially against smaller guys you know Puck Puck possession and and Puck protection should be some stuff that he
26:23
works on when he gets to BC and I'm sure they'll work on it with him there uh they have a great coaching St over there
26:28
and and sure you know they'll be able to uh to help him out in those regards yeah
26:34
he'll play with some really great talent I mean Ryan Leonard's going back he's got jelic and gaso and I mean they're
26:40
going to be loaded again he's got the kid who's might be the number one pick in the draft next year yeah um he might
26:46
he's going there to Hain he's going there too so man they're loaded again um
26:52
and you know he'll probably play like on the third line or so I mean he it's a really loaded team but but he's going to
26:58
play with some really really really good players and against some really good competition Elliot
27:04
gronwald was actually another guy I saw in video who showed some really good offensive ability especially in the
27:10
three on three you know bigger kid who has some
27:15
you know looked like some had some low ride similar lowai type abilities with
27:23
the puck and um I guess he He Turned some heads and and and showed really
27:29
well as well yeah he's he's a kind of an intriguing Prospect because he's a big
27:34
kid and he's I think he's going to we of Vermont is that right I think he's going to um I'll check that out I think it's
27:42
uh is it Vermont I think it is um yeah he's going to one of the Clon or is it Clon I don't know one of those uh but he
27:50
he is actually uh yeah like 6'2 63 and um has some good offensive
27:56
ability and hey Brett Harrison sighting yeah he showed Oh Elliot's going to
28:02
Quinnipiac Quinnipiac all um and um Adam McQuade had tons of
28:08
great things to say about Brett Harrison which was nice yeah you know did maybe he's a late bloomer and he starting to
28:14
turn the corner here a little bit he said he's gotten bigger faster stronger better skating so all that stuff is is
28:21
good to hear uh I think uh jelic is another guy that uh he did can certainly
28:28
he turned some heads and I think he's you know primed to have a really big year at BC um broke out kind of year uh
28:37
and I think um I think playing with gaso and and maybe Leonard uh on on a line
28:43
together um you know he he should be primed for a really good year there um
28:48
Loch melis also had um you know McQuade and and some of the other development
28:54
staff said that they they they're looking for Loch melis to have the same type of breakout that uh jelic had at BC
29:02
last year at UMass this year so um that's something to look forward to with
29:07
him for sure yeah and I I think that xelic is definitely an intri intriguing
29:13
Prospect right now I he showed some real progress and really have come out of
29:18
nowhere as well and you know the prospect pool took a hit with lorai and becher and Patra moving on and now
29:26
you're getting into that next group and it gets a little thin quickly but it looks like some of the draft picks that
29:32
you know Chris Pelosi Becket Hendrickson um some of those guys and
29:38
some of the guys that they drafted this year have been you know have been actually have people who have some
29:45
potential so hopefully they can continue to develop and they also are are
29:50
drafting players who are playing high level H College hockey they're going to Quinnipiac and Boston College and Foxon
29:58
and Cornell and places that you know high level College hockey so um you know
30:05
and Hendrickson and and and uh Hendrick is going to Minnesota I think uh Pelosi's going to maybe Quinn Pak too uh
30:14
so there's some some guys there are going to be playing against some really good competition so it'd be fun to see
30:19
them and follow them this coming season Bruins could really use three or four of them to really start
30:25
blossoming um and giving them at at least an asset that they can use in trade or they can use in the on the
30:32
roster in the next couple of years so I thought there was another guy too at development Camp Riley Duran yes dur who
30:40
was who was really good in development camp and and showed off well and and really competes and I honestly think um
30:49
if he has a really good camp he could push for a job on the fourth line with the Bruins I I really feel that um
30:56
because he he goes 100 miles an hour all the time he's got some skill he's big
31:01
he'll hit he does all the little things he'll penalty kill he's fast like he he
31:08
he he's John beer with maybe a little bit more finish maybe not the maybe not
31:15
the top end speed that beer has yeah and a little bit more motor maybe consistent motor yeah consistent consistently uh
31:23
with the motor and and the comp the compete level I think is better than beer so you know if Beach is not careful
31:30
Riley Duran might might come in there and and steal a job from him yeah fourth
31:35
FL I mean the the bottom six particularly the fourth line there a bunch of guys in there sure that who
31:42
knows what the hell's coming out of there I don't have any idea like it looks like be right now be cast and
31:49
Jones but with countar and Duran and just guys kind of hanging around faroni
31:57
yeah who knows who's who's going to be playing in those lines so um there's a
32:03
lot of depth down there I mean you'd rather have depth in the top six but uh but there's depth in the bottom six for
32:10
sure and Oscar Oscar zelic could be the best Oscar they've had in the last few
32:17
years he's talking to you Mr Steen he's yeah steer yeah steer uh chirp four
32:23
Bruins are ranked seven in ESPN rankings is that a fair assessment coming into
32:30
next year so far seventh seventh in the ESPN rankings in the whole league in the
32:36
whole yeah I'd say I'd say you think that's fair yeah so who do you think the
32:42
teams ahead of them are right now uh Edmonton Florida
32:48
uh Dallas yeah uh maybe
33:00
Rangers jersey Rangers yeah Florida Edmonton Dallas Rangers Colorado
33:08
Carolina than Boston okay Nashville Vancouver Toronto round out the top 10
33:15
yeah see I I don't know if I'd put Carolina ahead of Boston honestly I
33:20
don't know if I would but I'll tell you what I might put Nashville out of them yeah I mean you could m o and Stam coast
33:29
and Brady Shay so they have Shay and Yosi which is
33:36
good after that what do they have you know Smith and Barry I don't know I have
33:41
no idea so defense to me Nashville's defense to me is a little thin go ending
33:47
obviously excellent yeah and the forwards I would say I mean if you lined them up probably better than Boston's
33:54
uhhuh so I mean I'll take out defense and I would say the go t is probably a
34:00
wash there forwards a little better so yeah you could make an argument for them um Carolina I would say losing Shay and
34:09
peshi I I wouldn't put them ahead of Boston I wouldn't no I think I'm going to put Carolina the comparison of
34:16
Carolina and Boston up there tomorrow on the uh on the X okay and see what people say we'll take a look at the two forward
34:23
groups I think their forwards probably are a little bit better but I think we have them on defense and go ending just
34:28
like yeah a lot of teams yeah like a lot of teams they have um but seven you know
34:35
I put I put 10 bucks on 10 bucks to win 210 or whatever it was for the bruers to win the cup DraftKings
34:42
Sportsbook Futures bet I'll have to hop on that Futures bet myself we'll see see
34:48
what it is but that's a pretty good bet and and Nashville was plus 1800 which is another good bet because I really like
34:55
Nashville so yeah I mean that's a that's a pretty good bet you should you should
35:00
bet them both to make Easton Conference Finals and then and and and then uh Eastern Western
35:08
Conference finals and then Stanley Cup finals and then Bruins to win yeah bet
35:13
them both to win and then you cover it either way yeah you get just clean house yeah clean house trip five Brandon Carlo
35:20
trade rumors have appeared sort of out of nowhere one of them had Carlo and beer going to the Rangers for trouba
35:28
and uh Matt rampe why would you trade Brandon Carlo
35:33
with three years left on a deal that's $4.1 million I mean he might have one of the better contracts right now out there
35:41
yeah that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of dumb I don't know why you would trade him right now what does Matt rampe give
35:47
you nothing and we're gonna talk about rampe in a couple of chirps here uh because I'll tell you what he's what
35:54
he's working on right now and it and it doesn't mean a damn no so you know go
36:00
ahead he thinks it's 1987 yeah I mean that trade just doesn't make any sense to me zero it makes sense if you're the
36:07
Rangers 100% it does because because you clear trouba's money yeah you get Carlo
36:14
in for much less money yeah um so yeah I
36:19
mean you get Carlo and a guy who can actually play yeah makes a ton of sense if you're uh if you're the Rangers but
36:26
makes zero you're the Boston Bron so no and Carlo gets a lot of grief because there's a lot of people out there who
36:32
still think he's a stiff someone on X the other day was like he's howgill 2.0 not true I mean Brandon Carlo is a
36:40
really good player a really reliable player really solid defenseman is he
36:46
gonna jump off the page of the offense no chipping a goal here or there but he
36:51
is a much better skater than you think he's a fantastic penalty killer he'll put him up against the up lines he shuts
36:59
down guys I mean he he he gives Austin Austin Matthews a [ __ ] of a time yeah
37:05
you know so you know look Mal too Malin too he's good I mean yeah I mean he goes
37:10
up against a lot of those the other teams like top top talent right and and
37:17
and most of the time you know he does pretty well and he's making he's making
37:22
yeah three more three more than Matt grizli was just making in his last deal
37:28
three you know I mean he's making short money yeah for three more years make
37:35
when your cap goes up 20 million he's you know come on yeah I mean that's just stupid might be the best contract in the
37:42
league and it I'm telling you it's the best contract on the Bruins put that out there at some point this sum might be
37:48
the best contract in the league right now yes um it might but term and value
37:55
in yeah but in a year or two it's going to be even better yeah it's gonna be a sin yeah we're gonna have to start a
38:01
GoFundMe for Brando because it's a travesty what he's making yes Charlie
38:07
makoy should be should be giving himing in 200k yeah he's making yeah knock
38:14
Charlie down to nine and give uh give Brando the extra 250 each year yeah we'll do that
38:20
unbelievable unbelievable uh chirp six Nikita zadorov
38:25
news first of all he said that he picked Boston because part partly because it
38:30
was the best place for him to win a championship and also he takes Mark
38:36
savard's old number 91 yeah Savvy he uh Savvy coached him in Calgary there a
38:41
little bit uh and he said uh he's worn 16 his whole life and uh 91 is an upside
38:50
down 16 upside down 16 yeah he did with uh Vancouver he had 91 because because
38:56
yeah uh 16 is retired in Vancouver and and in Boston with uh Trevor Lyon and
39:03
and Rick Middleton so okay yeah he takes 91 here and and uh I think he'll do it
39:09
proud for Savvy uh you know not the uh not the offensive playmaker that Savvy
39:15
was no savy had one of the better Savvy had one of the more underappreciated
39:21
goals oh yeah against Philadelphia yes in that Series where he had that you
39:26
know bottom of the right Circle Slap Shot you know just off
39:33
footed missile it was under the bar like incredible shot yep so good so good um
39:42
and he'll be with the Toronto mapol I believe Saar yeah as an assistant um and then chirp number seven
39:50
oh so be before we go there sidorov says best place best chance to win a championship so forth and so on
39:58
um do you think that that's true of the places that could afford to
40:04
pay him yeah right which is like San Jose Montreal yeah yeah I mean it comes down
40:11
to a few things there was not a lot of playoff teams had the amount of cap space the brones had very few um you
40:20
know Nashville being one of them uh but they went in a different direction you know couple of forwards and and Brady
40:26
Shay so uh other than Nashville there really wasn't a ton of uh good teams with cap space no so of
40:36
those teams I think Boston does you know give them a better chance to win than
40:42
the teams the other teams with cap space that been looking to go to Long Term so
40:47
I I believe him as far as that goes now in the general scheme of the whole league does it really give him a chance to win n i mean the Bruins probably are
40:55
still you know seventh not bad uh and and the defense is going to be good
41:00
again the goal tending you know if Swingman signs is going to be good again but do they have enough offensively to
41:08
put them over the top against really good teams I'm not sure they do do you
41:14
do you think they have do you think they'll win a cup within the next six years because that's how long is the DOR will be
41:21
here I I hope so right I mean that's
41:26
that's where we're at I hope they do I mean in order for that to happen you're going to have to need lorai to be what
41:34
we think he might be yes uh Matt ptra to be at least what we think he might be
41:41
ptra patra's gonna need to be like David C yeah David Cree I mean he doesn't have
41:49
to be as defensively sound as David Cree but he needs to be like you know I'm not
41:56
saying Matt barzal but Matt barzal like yeah he a really good offensive player a
42:02
really good offensive player like that's what they need him to be really good offensive player power play guy you know
42:10
yeah I guess David C here's what I'm gonna here's what I'm gonna call right now Matt ptra is not a Boston breu
42:17
within oh no two to three years who do they trade him
42:24
for some somebody I I I just the trend
42:29
now is to go size and all this stuff I me that's true I just don't know if he's
42:35
going to fit unless he's David C like unless he's a playmaker that's different
42:41
because Cree was different like catee was not a Bruins type of guy but he was
42:46
so productive and such a good player that he it worked yeah but ptra um I
42:53
think could not may not be with the Bruins within two to three years wow I I
43:01
I I think that might happen I I mean I wouldn't I wouldn't um I wouldn't be S I
43:06
mean I guess I would be surprised but I shouldn't be surprised
43:11
because I I do I do see the trend obviously with the size I mean it's pretty unmistakable they've drafted the
43:18
last two years everyone's been over six feet a bunch of guys much bigger than six feet 62 63 64 67 this year so
43:27
they're definitely trending in that direction and like I told you I think last episode they they Bruins possibly
43:35
could only have three guys under six feet on the whole team next year you know marand ptra and then
43:41
either lowai and not lowai uh lysel or
43:46
merula right and probably both those guys don't make it so it's probably gonna be you know one of ly and merkulov
43:54
ptra and marant right only three guys under six feet so they're definitely
44:00
trending in that direction now unless he's a playmaking center that is kind of
44:06
plays his way onto the team and keeps stays on the team I mean he does compete
44:11
he does seem to get his nose in there and he'll dig for pucks and win battles in the corners
44:17
he showed that at the beginning of last year when he was up he was winning some Puck battles and and stuff before his
44:23
shoulder got hurt so you know maybe that keeps him on the Brewing but I certainly
44:28
could see or becomes a wing yes yeah I mean sure um but then it's you know he's on
44:35
the wall all the time trying to win Puck battles as a smaller kid um so I could
44:41
see it I could see them moving him uh I wouldn't love it but you know if it's in
44:47
the right deal I've said it before I'll move anybody if it's the right to me you can't to me you can't have Patra
44:54
merkulov in lysel all on the same team like I don't know if you can have all
44:59
that because you're a very small team if that happens like I don't I that's a
45:06
that's that's a ton I mean they're all top six that's that's a h that's half of your top
45:13
six yeah and Maran you don't know he'll be here at
45:20
least a couple more years though yeah so I mean it's possible that you have four guys in your top six that are all six
45:26
feet doesn't jive with what they're doing not really so I am just throwing
45:31
the bone out there and I don't look I like Matt potra a lot I don't want him to go like I want to see what he can do
45:38
and I think that he can be a pretty good player um I just I just don't know if
45:43
it's going to be here I don't I don't I just I think that in the right deal if they really want to change the makeup of
45:49
the team and get a you know a star player in here or something that he's
45:55
that he's part of that deal yeah I mean he probably would be the most enticing probably you would get more for ptra
46:02
than you would for merul because neither one of those guys has really shown much of anything at the NHL level so I feel
46:10
like of of those guys he probably has a highest value so yeah he would be the
46:15
one to trade because you'd probably get more in return 100% yeah I I I
46:22
yeah I don't like you bringing this up I don't know it's you know it's summertime hot as [ __ ] like I can't I can't deal
46:29
this [ __ ] heat like this makes me Delirious like sorry but I'm going to throw it out there and you know I I just
46:37
don't know I mean hopefully he gets 70 points this year and we can stop talking about it yeah that' be trip seven Matt
46:45
rampe the a for mentioned rampe yeah uh participated in George Loro hockey
46:51
fighting class in Edmonton is this a complete waste of time yes yes yes it is
46:57
work on your skating and your finish and and the things that matter and not fighting because what are you going to
47:03
get you know six or eight fighting Majors all year oh great you won them it's fantastic didn't win any games
47:10
doesn't he beat up everybody now anyway does like I don't know what what are you trying to do this is not 1978 does he
47:16
want to kill a man maybe what's what is the who is out there that's that really
47:22
will compete against him to beat his baggin like I don't understand
47:28
this is a complete waste of time it is like go find Z zadorov
47:35
yes okay I hope Sor kills him how big is
47:46
something producer Conor can you can you a big kid I I think he is um but yeah I
47:54
don't I don't it doesn't make any sense to me because I feel like he fights and he wins fights now so I mean if that's I
48:02
mean I guess you you like that's why you're in the league R 69
48:14
69 wow well then all the more reason not to [ __ ] work on your fighting who's gonna beat him who's gonna who's gonna
48:21
beat him up like I don't I just don't think it's I mean go work on your game
48:27
like it's just it's like to me this is like a this is a novelty this is like
48:34
yeah it is side show it is a show I mean and they're too good a hockey club to do
48:40
this like there's too much else to focus on you want to be San Jose and be and be a goon go ahead sell some tickets fine
48:49
but this is stupid this a really good Hockey Club it has a chance to win a cup yeah why are we focusing on this it's
48:56
just yeah I don't know they I I feel like maybe he's trying to perfect the the
49:03
part of his game that got him to the league is the only thing I can think of because he's not really in the league for any other reason I mean he runs
49:09
around he doesn't do anything else HS he doesn't really he can't really he doesn't really score goals or anything
49:15
um Miss G is known for hosting they are known for hosting legendary fights boxing matches some real Classics

51:26
in the garage no in the garage the there's a breeze right now outside up
51:33
here in in Maine um but it doesn't seem to be penetrating into the uh the room Summer
51:40
Breeze to the inside it makes me feel fine not much as penetrating in that room eh no no there hasn't been
51:46
penetration in this room quite some time um yeah so uh yeah AC I can't sleep
51:53
without it last night was torture um it's just torture it's just really
52:00
soupy out there yeah soupy Campbell out there it's uh it's just a lot of
52:09
humidity just wet everything just wet wet it's moist yeah everything's
52:16
moist everything's moist do we have a bender this week you know what the hum
52:21
hea and humidity he humidity there's the ying and yang right there it is it is AC and the and the
52:30
Bender is humidity and heat H there we go there it is did you
52:36
see that Las Vegas hit a record 120 120 of that dry heat which is a cocka cck of
52:43
[ __ ] but tell you my brother lives out there and he used to run he used to go jogging when I was like under 15 and I
52:49
was like how the [ __ ] Henry Ward the runner he does that in Arizona yeah yeah
52:57
run it was like 117 118 like dude I don't think so no it's it's dry but it's
53:04
still like putting your head in the oven yeah you know it's just like the oven's dry but it's still hotter than [ __ ] in
53:10
there it's still hot yeah 117 is hotter than [ __ ] I don't you still catch the sunburn yeah yeah you can I mean it's
53:19
it's really hot hot stove hot stove bro stock it's really hot though I'll tell
53:24
you it's hot stove broin stock right now it is when do you think the San thing gets done I'm going to say it's going to
53:31
get done end of next week by end of next week you think so yeah I think it's some [ __ ] is going into training camp I do
53:37
really yep okay so he's gonna miss sometime in
53:43
training camp yes really so you're talking two months either either he's
53:49
gonna miss some time or it's going to be done like the morning of the first day of training camp so he he shows up signs
53:57
a deal hops on the ice everybody's happy that's what I hope for but I think he's
54:02
going to miss I think he's going to miss a little time in training camp really yeah two more months I'm not any idea
54:10
it's gonna be obnoxious it's gonna be irritating we're gonna be talking about this ad nauseum We're not gonna have
54:16
