CEDAR PARK, Texas – Wednesday night, the Texas Stars defeated the visiting Grand Rapids Griffins 3-2 thanks to a 29-save performance from Magnus Hellberg and an overtime goal from Cameron Hughes, his second of the season.

Antonio Stranges put the Stars on the board first with a wrist shot from the left wing circle that beat Sebastian Cossa glove side to give the Stars a 1-0 lead in the first period.

Matej Blümel gave the Stars a 2-0 lead at the mid-way point of the second period. The two-goal lead wouldn’t last long, as Sheldon Dries would score just over a minute later. Austin Watson tied the game 2-2 with a power play goal at 13:24 in the second period.

After a scoreless third period, Hughes would end the night with his second overtime goal of the season when on a 2-on-1 he received a pass from Kyle Capobianco in the high slot and beat Cossa five hole.
