Kevin Shattenkirk and the Boston Bruins have agreed to a one-year contract worth $1 million annually. Shattenkirk was drafted 14th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and then quickly traded to the St. Louis Blues after 46 games in Colorado. Shattenkirk would split his NHL tenure between Colorado, St. Louis, Washington, the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and most recently, the Anaheim Ducks.
Shattenkirk’s 2022-23 season with the Anaheim Ducks wasn’t a terrible season. Shattenkirk posted four goals and 23 assists for 27 points in 75 games. Anaheim had a notably awful season, receiving the second overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, in which they would select Leo Carlsson.
Kevin Shattenkirk will be an unrestricted free agent when his contract expires at the end of the 2023-24 season. Shattenkirk will fit Boston’s physical playstyle, as Shattenkirk likes to rough it up when he can and will hit lots. Shattenkirk has the Boston connection, where he attended Boston University and played for their hockey team from 2007-2009.
