ECHL: 2023-2024 Kansas City Mavericks Protected List.

On June 9th, the ECHL released the protected list of players of each team in the league. If you don’t know the protected list, I will give you a quick run down before I tell you the list of players that the Kansas City Mavericks protected. Below are six things things needed to retain a player.

1. Signed an SPC in 2022-23 with the Member, and has not been traded or released, OR

2. Signed an SPC in 2022-23, and was recalled to the NHL/AHL or IIHF team, and has not been traded or released, OR

3. Had received a Qualifying Offer last summer for the current Season, DID NOT sign an SPC, and has not been traded or released, OR

4. Has been suspended by the Member or League, and has not been traded or released, OR

5. Signed an SPC on or after the first day of the 2022-23 Regular Season, then subsequently signed an NHL/AHL contract, and has not been traded or released, OR

6. Has executed the ECHL Retirement Form and has not been traded or released.

Protected lists may exceed 20 players.

Now here are the 24 players that the Mavericks protected; Shane Starrett, Dillon Kelley, Elias Rosen, Nate Knoepke, Tommy Muck, Jordan Sambrook, Theo Calvas, Josh Elmes, Mike Lee, Marcus Crawford, Cole Coskey, Keeghan Howdeshell, Cade Borchardt, Loren Ulett, Jake Jaremko, Ryan Harrison, A.J. Vanderbeck, Josh Lammon, Luke Santerno, Casey Carreau, Zach Pochiro, John Schiavo, Anthony DeLuca, and Ben Johnson.

One player on the protected list that Maverick fans can expect not to see back is Josh Lammon, who signed with the Sydney Bears in Australia for next season. In 63 games with the Mavericks, Lammon had 11 goals and 20 assists; he also added three assists in six Kelly Cup Playoff games. One name that isn’t on the list is Pascal Laberge, who had 21 goals and 32 assists for 53 points in 53 games. Laberge has signed a deal in Italy for next season.
