South Carolina Stingray’s Alexander Suzdalev was announced as Inglasco ECHL Player of the Week for November 25- December 1st. The 20-year-old had a fantastic week, scoring two goals, six assists, and eight points. All of these occurred during games where the Stingrays were victorious with four or more goals against Southern Conference teams. The Stingrays are currently ranked second in the conference, sitting at 13-4-1.
Suzdalev, a left-handed winger from Khabarovsk, Russia, played in the Swedish leagues until he was 18, when he left and headed to Canada. Alexander played there with the Western Hockey League on the Regina Pats for the 22-23 season, going to join the Swedish league once again at the beginning of the 23-24 season for 13 games. He returned to the WHL with the Saskatoon Blades for the rest of the season. He was drafted 70th overall in 2022 by the Washington Capitals, the NHL affiliate of South Carolina.
After being drafted, Suzdalev was assigned to the Hershey Bears, the AHL affiliate of the Capitals, for one game before being transferred to the Stingrays for further development. During his WHL time, he saw 96 games with 47 goals, 64 assists, and two playoff runs, scoring seven goals and 16 assists. While with the Swe-1 (Swedish League), he scored two goals and one assist. During his time with the AHL, Alexander played one game, the only action being the two penalty minutes he earned. Since joining the Stingrays in the 24-25 season, he has played 13 games, earning five goals and 11 assists this season.
Suzdalev shows excellent skill when on the ice, proving that the move to the South Carolina Stingrays is furthering his development into a stellar hockey player. He currently has 16 points this season, ranking him third amongst the Forwards and the rest of the teams for points scored.
Inglasco will donate to a South Carolina youth hockey organization on behalf of Suzdalev. Inglasco has donated over 51,000 pucks to youth organizations in ECHL cities. South Carolina will face the Rapid City Rush on December 6th in Charleston.
