A Visit With Former GM Dubas: Leafs Game Preview 19

After a solid start to their game last night, things fell apart for the Leafs, resulting in an overtime loss against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Leafs couldn’t get the job done and didn’t deserve the win last night. They’re back tonight, though, and this time against their former GM, Kyle Dubas, as the Leafs look to get back into the win column quickly.

Leafs Projected Lineup

Three Things to Look Out For

Woll

Being on the second half of a back-to-back, the Leafs will be starting Joseph Woll. Woll had a stellar start to the season but, since then, has dropped to a more reasonable level, given the fact that he’s in his rookie year. Woll has a lot of potential as a goalie, and this start to his season and NHL career is promising. Look for Woll to keep a calm composure tonight and help the Leafs towards a win.

Marner

Sheldon Keefe has said it now, Marner just hasn’t had it lately, specifically in the last game. Marner is an elite player, especially with his playmaking abilities, but he hasn’t been as dominant lately. With a player of Marner’s skill though, it’s only a matter of time for him to have a solid game and silence the doubters.

Bertuzzi

After a slow start to the season, Bertuzzi has started to look more like the player the Leafs hoped they’d be getting when they signed him. It seems as if the most helpful thing Bertuzzi can do is to just simplify his game and not overthink things. He’s playing with other highly skilled players, and the chemistry is building so the results have been building as well. Look for Bertuzzi to have a solid game tonight.

Today’s game starts at 7 p.m. EST on Sportsnet and CBC!

Growing up in the 1980s and 1990s (I am 41 years old), I had two voices that narrated the hockey that I watched. Those voices belonged to Sam Rosen and John Davidson. They partnered to broadcast New York Rangers games from 1986-2006 helping to form one of the best hockey broadcasting tandems in the industry. […]
