Noel Acciari and the Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to terms on a two-year contract worth $3 million annually. Acciari was acquired by former Maple Leafs general manager and current Penguins GM and president of hockey operations in the Ryan O’Reilly trade. Acciari led the Maple Leafs in hits and was a valuable asset to the style of game they were looking to play.
Acciari has split his eight-year NHL tenure between the Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues, and Toronto Maple Leafs. Acciari’s 2022-23 season saw him play 54 games for St. Louis and then being traded to Toronto, where he played 23 games. Acciari scored ten goals and eight assists for 18 points with St. Louis, and he would score four goals and one assist for five points with Toronto.
Noel Acciari is what the Penguins will be looking for when they build into the future and wind down the years of Crosby, Malkin, and Letang. Acciari will look to out-perform his contract before his career winds down.
