Adirondack Thunder Name Assistant Captains

The Adirondack Thunder have their leadership group as earlier today they announced Patrick Grasso as the sixth captain in team history and have now announced the assistants for the upcoming season as Yanick Turcotte, Ryan Smith, and Colin Felix will all wear the “A” for the Thunder this season. All three guys are more than deserving of the job as Turcotte not only has experience in the league but is a guy who takes a lot of pride in having the “A” on his sweater; Turcotte missed most of last season playing in only 23 games putting up two goals and three assists for five points while also putting up 71 minutes in penalties. Smith has been a key part of the Thunder over the past two seasons, and Head Coach Pete MacArthur mentioned that Smith would have a bigger role this season now; being named an assistant will be the first part of taking on that bigger role. Smith has 27 goals and 42 assists for 69 points in 140 games with the Thunder; the Virginia native also played three games with the Tulsa Oilers at the end of the 2020-21 season. Colin Felix came over from the Reading Royals in the off-season after being signed to an AHL deal with the Utica Comets. Felix, in his rookie season in the ECHL, put up eight goals and 19 assists for 27 points in 72 games; the U-Mass graduate wore an “A” during his senior year with the Minutemen. The New Jersey native didn’t play in either of the pre-season games with the Thunder.
