The Adirondack Thunder have suspended defenceman Tristan Thompson, which would likely mean that he is heading overseas. This would make sense as the overseas deadline is a little over two weeks away. Thompson, who had a slow start to the year after coming over from the Savannah Ghost Pirates, has finally found his groove offensively for the Thunder and extended his point streak to four games last night with an empty-net goal. Thompson had five goals and 14 assists for 19 points in 38 games this year; he led all Thunder defencemen in goals. The Alberta native was in his third year in the ECHL, where he put up 17 goals and 70 assists for 87 points in 158 games while spending time with the Rapid City Rush, Savannah Ghost Pirates, and Adirondack Thunder.
For Adirondack, this couldn’t have come at a worse time. They are still awaiting news on Patrick Grasso’s injury and a call from the league after Zach Walker was tossed from last night’s game for Abuse Of Officials. As expected after last night’s game, Bray Crowder will undoubtedly be in tonight’s lineup, and I wouldn’t be shocked if Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Pete MacArthur makes a signing before puck drop tonight.
