AHL: Coachella Valley Firebirds Re-Sign Assistant Captain

The Coachella Valley Firebirds announced today that they are re-signing their assistant captain Gustav Olofsson, to a two-year AHL contract. Olofsson appeared in 51 games for Coachella Valley last season, recording 17 points on three goals and 14 assists. He was a minus-six, with 24 penalty minutes. In six Calder Cup Playoff games, he scored a goal. Olofsson had two penalty minutes and was even in plus/minus.

The Minnesota Wild drafted Olofsson 46th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He’s played in 63 career NHL games, recording 11 assists. He is a minus-four with a power-play point and 18 penalty minutes. The 30-year-old defenseman has played in 366 career AHL games. Olofsson has 115 points on 18 goals and 97 assists. He is a +31 with five power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, two game-winning goals, and 157 penalty minutes. In 57 career Calder Cup Playoff games, he has 14 points on five goals and nine assists. He is a plus-three with a game-winning goal and 26 penalty minutes. Olofsson had five points in each playoff run the Firebirds had en route to a Western Conference Championship. In the first run, he had five points on three goals and two assists. In the second run in 2024, he had five assists and was a plus-four.
