The Manitoba Moose get their captain back after a run with the Winnipeg Jets. Dominic Toninato, 30, suited up for four games with the Jets where he was held scoreless.
In 25 games played for the Manitoba Moose this season, Toninato has posted 11 points (6G, 5A) and 27 PIMs. Toninato has played 220 games across eight seasons in the American Hockey League and has spent the past five seasons with the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose.
Across his five seasons with the Moose, Toninato has posted 70 points (35G, 35A) in 117 games played for the team. He’s posted 21 points (8G, 13A) in 103 games played for the Winnipeg Jets and has proven himself to be a valuable depth piece to the Jets’ organization.
He signed with the Winnipeg Jets on October 10th, 2020, as an unrestricted free agent after the Florida Panthers opted not to give Toninato a qualifying offer.
Toninato was drafted in the fifth round (126th overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
With the Moose getting set to face the Grand Rapids Griffins on Thursday, January 23rd, with a 7:00 pm CST puck drop, it is unclear if Toninato will be available to the Moose. It is expected that he will play against Grand Rapids on Saturday, January 25th.
Toninato’s return to the Moose is a welcome boost to the team’s offensive output as they’ve struggled to score more than one goal in the past three games.
