The Manitoba Moose announced on Friday, May 30th, that Eric Dubois has joined the DEL club ERC Ingolstadt as an assistant coach.
Dubois, 55, served as an assistant coach with the Manitoba Moose for nine seasons when he joined the club back in 2016. The Moose posted a 292-264-34-23 record in Dubois’ nine seasons as the team’s defensive coach.
45 players suited up for the Manitoba Moose and Winnipeg Jets during Dubois’s time with the Moose. He coached 53 NHL Entry Draft picks by the Winnipeg Jets, who all appeared in a Moose uniform under his tenure as assistant coach.
His most notable accomplishments are coaching two Moose defenders to the Eddie Shore Award as the AHL’s most outstanding defenseman. Sami Niku did it in 2018 while Kyle Capobianco did it in 2024.
Dubois’ 12 seasons professionally in North America and Europe are marked by his time as a member of the inaugural Manitoba Moose team in 1996-97 and three DEL seasons for Revier Lions in 1997-98 and Schwenningen Wild Wings in 2000-01 and 2001-02.
Off the ice, Dubois is known for his long post-game press scrum remarks, with most answers being long and sometimes brutally honest.
Eric Dubois’ son, Pierre-Luc Dubois, played for the Winnipeg Jets from the 2020-21 season all the way until the 2022-23 season. While Pierre-Luc has seen the NHL for the entirety of his professional playing career, his father, Eric, had never touched NHL ice as a player or coach until the 2022-23 season.
In 2023, Eric Dubois got ‘called up’ to the Winnipeg Jets to serve as assistant coach while Brad Lauer battled a herniated disc in his back.
With some NHL experience under his belt, Dubois heads to the DEL as an assistant coach to the ERC Ingolstadt to gain more experience and hopefully return to North America in a head coaching role.
The Manitoba Moose now have a vacancy for one of their assistant coaching positions as their defence coach, Eric Dubois, has moved on. Heading into the 2025-26 season, the Moose have a lot of potential as a team to rebound after missing the Calder Cup Playoffs in 2024-25.
