AHL Game Recap: Hershey Bears vs Providence Bruins| 02/09/2024

Providence, RI- The Hershey Bears are back from their AHL All-Star break and are faced off against the Providence Bruins over the weekend. Here is a little recap from the All-Star game: Ethan Frank won the fastest skater competition. Hershey will play the Toronto Marlies, Belleville Senators, and the Laval Rockets on their Canadian road trip. They will return home on February 28th to play the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. The Bruins are currently sitting second in the Atlantic Division, the Eastern Conference, and the whole league. The Bruins have a record of 29-14-3-2 this season. The Goalie Match-up for the game was Hunter Shepard vs Brandon Bussi. Shepard has a Goals Allowed Against of 2.10 and, a Save Percentage of 0.915, and a record of 19-2-1-2 this season. Bussi has a Goals Allowed Against of 2.98 and a Save Percentage of 0.909, and a record of 15-7-3-0 this season. The first period of the game was very quiet; there were no penalties or goals in the period. The second period was also very quiet. They only had one penalty in that period, which put the Bears on a power play. The Thunderbirds successfully killed their power play. The penalty went to Trevor Kuntar for slashing. The third period was the most active when, forty-eight seconds in, Dylan McIlrath got a penalty for tripping. The Thunderbirds didn’t score on the Powerplay. The Bears finally scored the first of the night at 5:12 in the period, with Joe Snively scoring the goal and Hendrix Lapierre and Alex Limoges assisting with the goal.

The Bruins would tie the lead up at 9:03 in the period with Brett Harrison scoring the goal with Marc McLaughlin and Alec Regula assisting the goal. The Bruins put the Bears on a power play when Justin Brazeau got a High-Sticking penalty. They didn’t score on the power play, keeping the score tied. That was the last of the penalties in the third period. At 14:12 in the third period, Alex Limoges scored with Joe Snively and Hendrix Lapierre assisting the goal, bringing the Bears lead to one. At 19:34 in the third period, Aaron Ness scored on an empty netter, making the Bears score go to 3-2.
