The Hershey Bears have announced that they have terminated the contract of Micah Miller at the player’s request. This is very unusual to see, and there’s a lot of speculation about what could be going on with Miller. The 26-year-old forward had signed a one-year deal with Hershey in June. Miller spent the majority of last season in the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays despite being on an AHL deal with Hershey, where he put up 21 goals and 32 assists for 53 points in 69 games. In seven games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs, he put up three assists. He also played in two games with the Bears last season.
It is unknown what is going on with Miller, but this is a major loss for the both the Stingrays and Bears moving forward. Hopefully, Miller can find his way back onto the ice in the near future, regardless of his current situation.
The Grand Rapids, Minnesota native made his pro debut at the end of the 2022-23 season, putting up one assist in two games with the Tucson Roadrunners. In his first full pro season, he put up 23 goals and 18 assists for 41 points in 63 games as a member of the Atlanta Gladiators, while also playing in three games with the Roadrunners. During his only season with the Gladiators, he would lead the team in goals. Prior to going pro, Miller played five seasons at the St.Cloud State University, where he put up 29 goals and 42 assists for 71 points in 171 games with the Huskies. In 2023, the Huskies won the NCHC Championship.
