ONTARIO, Calif. — As the 2024-25 season commences, players from their respective American Hockey League (AHL) teams are signing contracts to participate in this season’s games. The Los Angeles Kings organization has strategically reassigned a considerable number of players to the Ontario Reign, their AHL affiliate.

The top prospected players were goalies, and a handful made names for themselves during the Kings’ training today. Earlier today, Oct. 4, the Reign announced that they have extended goaltender Jacob Ingham for one year. In addition, the team also added Dru Krebs, Parker Berge and Carter Savoie to AHL deals.

About Ingham

Ingham, 24, 6-foot-6, and 205 pounds, played six games for the Reign last season, working alongside Erik Portillo when David Rittich was called up after Phoenix Copley’s season-ending ACL injury. In those six games, he recorded a 2.71 goals-against average (GAA) and a .917 save percentage (SV%).

The young goaltender from Barrie, Ontario, primarily played for the Kings’ ECHL affiliate team, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. During the last season for Greenville, Ingham played in 34 games, recording a 2.57 GAA and .916 SV%.

He also participated in five Kelly Cup Playoff games, where he posted a 2.75 GAA and a .901 SV%. During that season, Ingham signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Kings for over $775,000.

Unfortunately, Ingham did not sign an NHL extension for this season. However, he could re-sign again as the season transpires.Ingham has been exposed to the Kings’ organisation for quite some time, as he first joined the franchise in 2020-21 with the Reign.

For his professional debut, Ingham played in only a single game while posting a 2.00 GAA and a .944 SV% with two goals-against from 34 saves; he also won this game. After his one-game campaign in the AHL, the then-20-year-old goaltender would be sent down to the Swamp Rabbits to finish his season by playing 13 games.

He would miss the remainder of the season due to sustaining an injury. In those 13 games, Ingham was 4-8-1 with a 3.15 GAA and .892 SV%. The record was primarily not his fault, as his team could barely hold fourth place in the South Division.

After his inaugural tenure in professional hockey, Ingham signed an entry-level contract with the Kings for the 2021–22 season. However, he did not play much at all due to sustaining another injury.

He participated in five games for the Reign during that season, posting a 4.29 GAA and .861 SV% from 20 goals against and 124 saves. The poor performance record resulted in him being sent back down to Greenville, where he played 16 games with a 2.71 GAA and .909 SV% from 44 goals allowed and 441 saves.

In the following season, 2022-23, Ingham signed with the Reign but did not participate in any games for the team or the Swamp Rabbits as he was recovering from a serious lower-body injury.

Now that the 2024-25 season is underway, Ingham has a shot at making the Reign’s roster full-time as a backup to Portillo. He is a tall, well-rounded goaltender with solid athletic reflexes. He performed quite well during last season in the Kings’ organization after he recovered from his injury.
