AHL: Jake Massie Signs Overseas

The Hershey Bears this morning saw Jake Massie sign with Barys Astana of the KHL. In 23 games this past season with Hershey he had four points on two goals and two assists. He was a minus-six with ten penalty minutes. In eight Calder Cup Playoff games, he had four assists. He was a minus-one with two penalty minutes.

Massie played three seasons at the University of Vermont. In his first season, he played in 29 games recording seven assists. He was a plus-seven with 14 penalty minutes. In year two he played in 36 games recording seven points again this time on two goals and five assists. He was minus two with a power play goal and 42 penalty minutes. In Massie’s final season, he played in 30 games recording nine points on four goals and five assists. He was a minus-three with three power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, and 34 penalty minutes.

The following season he joined the Springfield Thunderbirds where in 29 games he had five points on three goals and two assists. He was a plus-two with 22 penalty minutes. Massie also played in two games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. He scored a goal and was a minus-one. In 2020-21 he played in 31 games with Greenville recording 11 points on three goals and eight assists. He was a plus-three with a game-winning goal and 22 penalty minutes.

Massie then spent the next four seasons in Hershey playing in 123 games recording 26 points on seven goals and 19 assists. He was a plus-six with a power-play goal, a shorthanded goal, and 51 penalty minutes. In 32 Calder Cup Playoff games all with Hershey he had six assists. Massie was even in plus/minus with 16 penalty minutes. He also appeared in one game in 2021-22 with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. Massie recorded a goal and an assist in that game. He was a plus-two in that game.
