AHL: John Stevens Signs Overseas

The defending Calder Cup Champion Abbotsford Canucks are losing forward John Stevens as he is signing with Kiekko-Espoo of Liiga. In 45 games this past season, he had 15 points on four goals and 11 assists. He was a plus-four with a game-winning goal and 20 penalty minutes. He didn’t play in any of the Calder Cup Playoff games for the Canucks.

John Stevens

Stevens played his college hockey at Northeastern University, where he spent four seasons. In 138 games, he recorded 106 points on 26 goals and 80 assists. He was a plus-three with ten power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, four game-winning goals, and 101 penalty minutes. After finishing the college season, he signed with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He would spend four seasons with Bridgeport, playing in 117 games. He had 32 points on 13 goals and 19 assists. Stevens posted a plus-nine rating with two shorthanded goals and 56 penalty minutes. He then spent two seasons with the Utica Comets, playing in 48 games. Stevens had 19 points on nine goals and ten assists. He recorded a plus-four rating with two shorthanded goals and 22 penalty minutes.

He’s spent the last four seasons on the Canucks, playing in 224 games, recording 112 points on 43 goals and 69 assists. He was a +38 with four power-play goals, nine shorthanded goals, five game-winning goals, and 165 penalty minutes. Over the ten seasons he’s spent in the AHL, he’s played in 389 games, recording 163 points on 65 goals and 98 assists. He is a +51 with four power-play goals, 13 shorthanded goals, five game-winning goals, and 243 penalty minutes. In 17 career Calder Cup Playoff games, he had three points on a goal and two assists. He is a minus-two with six penalty minutes.
