The Manitoba Moose have added to their organization’s goaltending depth by signing Alex Worthington to a two-year contract that will expire at the end of the 2026-27 season.
The 6-foot-3 netminder recently finished up participating in his second Winnipeg Jets development camp and has continuously looked to improve his game. Getting looks at Worthington in development camp shows promise and adds a nice touch to the Moose’s depth should one of Domenic DiVincentiis or Thomas Milic get recalled at any point in the 2025-25 season.
The 20-year-old posted a 22-18-2 win-loss record supported by a 2.99 goals-against average (GAA) and a .902 save percentage (SV%) in 42 games for the Western Hockey League’s Edmonton Oil Kings. He’s added two career playoff games, notching a 1-1 record in that time for the Oil Kings. His WHL career saw him suit up in 48 games, posting a 23-23-2 win-loss record and a career 3.25 GAA and .895 SV%.
Before he found himself in the WHL, Worthington suited up for 10 games for the Briercrest College Clippers of the ACAC. He posted a 9-1-0 win-loss record, a 2.50 GAA, and a .926 SV% while also being the youngest goaltender in the ACAC during the 2023-24 season.
Given the bright young tandem of DiVincentiis and Milic creating a goaltending logjam, Worthington will likely start the season with the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals. There is a strong chance that he will find himself up with the Moose at some point to give one of DiVincentiis and Milic some rest, or to be injury insurance.
