Consecutive losses to the Laval Rocket and now the first of two games against the Chicago Wolves are in the books as the Manitoba Moose wrap up their final home stretch of the 2024-25 season.
As the Moose entered the weekday series on Tuesday/Wednesday against Laval, they were in a must-win scenario where they would have to win every single game to catch the Rockford IceHogs.
The Moose, who lost 3-2 on Tuesday and 3-1 on Wednesday, were officially eliminated from the 2025 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Following that series, the Moose lost 4-3 in overtime to the Chicago Wolves in the first of two games. The Wolves and Moose have had a lengthy history of being bitter rivals, and the physicality ramped up with both teams not wanting to budge.
Before this home stretch for the Moose, they had two must-win games against Rockford, one of which they one and the other they lost.
Captain Dominic Toninato scored two big goals in the first game against Laval. He followed it up with two assists against Chicago and has been a driving factor for the Moose all season.
CJ Suess scored the tying goal against Chicago in his 300th game to push the Moose to overtime against the Wolves, but Ty Smith shattered the Moose’s hopes for a win.
The Moose and Wolves rematch on Sunday, April 6th, for their final game of the season series. The Moose will wrap up their home games for the season with a pair of games against the Iowa Wild on April 11th and 12th.
