
This evening, reports are that the Rochester Americans are signing former Detroit Red Wings prospect Red Savage to a two-year contract. Savage last season at Michigan State was the captain playing in 20 games recording 11 points on five goals and six assists. He was a plus-six with a shorthanded goal and 12 penalty minutes.

Savage started his collegiate career at Miami University. In his first season there in 2021-22. he played in 35 games. Savage had 16 points on six goals and ten assists. He was a minus-ten with a shorthanded goal, a game-winning goal, and 43 penalty minutes. Savage also played for Team USA in World Juniors, playing in five games, recording three points on two goals and an assist. He was a plus-five with two penalty minutes. In his second season, he played in 32 games, recording 14 points on seven goals and seven assists. He was a -15 with a power-play goal, two shorthanded goals, a game-winning goal, and 24 penalty minutes. Savage once again played for Team USA in the Juniors, playing in seven games, recording six points on three goals and three assists. He was a plus-two.
He then transferred to Michigan State, where he spent two seasons. In 2023-24, his first season, he appeared in 38 games, recording 27 points on ten goals and 17 assists. He was a plus-nine with a power-play goal, a game-winning goal, and 18 penalty minutes.
