AHL: San Diego Gulls Acquire 27-year-old Forward from Abbotsford

The Abbotsford Canucks and San Diego Gulls made a trade today as the Canucks sent forward Carsen Twarysnki to San Diego in exchange for future considerations. The Gulls are 16-23-5-3 with 54 points and sit ninth in the Pacific Division. Abbotsford is 30-24-2-1 with 63 points sitting in sixth place in the Pacific Division. The top seven teams in the division make the Calder Cup playoffs. Abbotsford holds a four-point lead while San Diego sits five points back.

Carsen Twarysnki

Twarysnki was drafted 82nd overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. In 2017 he played for the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL playing in 68 games recording 72 points on 45 goals and 27 assists. He then signed his deal and joined the Lehigh Valley Phantoms playing in five games recording two points on a goal and an assist. In 2018-19 he played in 69 games for the Phantoms recording 24 points on ten goals and 14 assists. In 2019-20 he made his NHL debut playing in 15 games for the Flyers recording a goal. He also played in 31 games with Lehigh Valley recording 12 points on seven goals and five assists. In 2020-21 he played in nine total games, seven in Philadelphia and two at Lehigh Valley, he didn’t record a point.

He played in 71 games in 2021-22 for the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL recording 18 points on five goals and 13 assists. In 2022-23 he was with Coachella Valley playing in 71 games recording 26 points on 17 goals and nine assists. In the playoffs, he played in 26 games recording eight points on five goals and three assists. Last season in 27 games with a new AHL team in the Bridgeport Islanders recording eight points on four goals and four assists. This season in 26 games with Abbotsford he has seven points on two goals and five assists.
