
The Springfield Thunderbirds today announced the re-signing of forward Kale Kessy to a one-year deal. Kessy last season played in 17 games with the Syracuse Crunch, recording an assist. He was a minus-one with 41 penalty minutes. Then he joined the Thunderbirds, where he went pointless in 15 games. Kessy finished with a minus-six with seven penalty minutes. In three Calder Cup Playoff games, he was pointless.

Kessy has played 13 seasons in the AHL. He’s spent time with the Thunderbirds, Crunch, Iowa Wild, Colorado Eagles on two stints, Hershey Bears, Manitoba Moose, Bakersfield Condors, and Oklahoma City Barons. In 359 games, he has 43 points on 21 goals and 22 assists. He is a -58 with a game-winning goal and 961 penalty minutes. In 13 career Calder Cup Playoff games, he has a point on a goal. He is a minus-one with 21 penalty minutes.
He’s also played in 122 ECHL games for the Tulsa Oilers, Bakersfield Condors, and Idaho Steelheads. He had 88 points on 36 goals and 52 assists. He was a minus-nine with eight power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, three power-play goals, and 600 penalty minutes. In ten Kelly Cup Playoff games, he had six points on two goals and four assists. He was even in plus/minus. He had a power-play goal, a game-winning goal, and 48 penalty minutes.
