
The Syracuse Crunch made the Calder Cup Playoffs this season after going 37-23-8-4 with 86 points. They had a goal differential of +28. The Crunch were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs after being swept by the Rochester Americans. Today, their captain 34-year-old Gabriel Dumont announced his retirement. This season in 16 games for the Crunch he recorded seven points on three goals and four assists. He was a plus-two and had eight penalty minutes. In the three playoff games, he failed to record a point. Dumont finished as a minus-two.

The Montreal Canadiens drafted Dumont with the 139th pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He went on to play in 747 career games in the AHL between four different teams. Dumont played for the Crunch on two different stints, the Iowa Wild. St. John’s IceCaps, and Hamilton Bulldogs. He recorded 459 points on 202 goals and 257 assists. Dumont was a career minus-ten, had 899 penalty minutes, 52 power-play goals, 15 shorthanded goals, and 32 game-winning goals. In 72 career Calder Cup playoff games he had 31 points on 17 goals and 14 assists. He was a minus-five with three power-play goals and three game-winning goals. Dumont played in 90 NHL games recording nine points on four goals and five assists. He finished as a zero in plus/minus.
