AHL: Texas Stars Extend 24-Year-Old Defenseman

The Texas Stars announced they have extended 24-year defenseman Tommy Bergsland to a one-year AHL contract for the 2025-26 season. Bergsland appeared in six regular-season games for the Stars but was held pointless. He played in five playoff games for them and recorded an assist.

Bergsland joined the Stars after finishing his fourth season at Colgate University. In his first season, he appeared in 40 games, recording 11 points on four goals and seven assists. He was a +15 with a game-winning goal and 33 penalty minutes. In year two, he played in 40 games, recording ten points on a goal and nine assists. He was a minus-ten with 25 penalty minutes.

In 2023-24, he played in 36 games, recording 26 points on five goals and 21 assists. He was a minus-one with a power-play goal and 16 penalty minutes. This past season, in his final season, he again played in 36 games. Bergsland had 24 points on four goals and 20 assists. He was a plus-nine, with a power-play goal, a shorthanded goal, a game-winning goal, and ten penalty minutes. In 152 career games, he finished with 71 points on 14 goals and 57 assists. He was a +13 with two power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, two game-winning goals, and 84 penalty minutes.
