
The Toronto Marlies this afternoon added to their roster for the 2025-26 season. They signed goalie Ken Appleby to a one-year AHL contract. They also signed forwards Marc Johnston and Reese Johnson. Johnson’s deal is a one-year deal, while Johnstone’s deal is a two-year deal.

Ken Appleby
Appleby, this season with the Charlotte Checkers, appeared in 24 games, going 15-8-1 with a 1.96 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage, and six shutouts. He was tied for the league lead in goals-against average and finished second in shutouts. In 143 AHL games, he is 62-64-12 with a 2.68 goals-against average, a .903 save percentage, and 13 shutouts.
Marc Johnstone
Johnstone played the 2024-25 season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In 51 games, he recorded 11 points on five goals and six assists. He was a +11 and had 37 penalty minutes. Johnstone spent his first two seasons with the Marlies, playing in 73 games, and he recorded 22 points on nine goals and 13 assists. He was a plus-five with a shorthanded goal, two game-winning goals, and 41 penalty minutes. In 165 career AHL games, he has 42 points on 17 goals and 25 assists. He was a +14 with a shorthanded goal, three game-winning goals, and 107 penalty minutes.
Reese Johnson
Johnson spent time with the Marlies and Iowa Wild in 2024-25. He played in 51 games, recording 14 points on four goals and ten assists. Johnson was a minus-four and had 44 penalty minutes. He was acquired for future considerations on March 7th. In 138 career AHL games, he has 37 points on 13 goals and 24 assists. He is a minus-seven with a shorthanded goal and 149 penalty minutes.
