AHL: Tyce Thompson Signs Overseas

The Bridgeport Islanders today lost forward Tyce Thompson as he signed with Barys Astana of the KHL. Thompson, this past season, played in 65 games with Bridgeport. He had 21 points on eight goals and 13 assists. He finished as a -28 with a game-winning goal and 132 penalty minutes.

Thompson played three seasons at Providence College, where in 101 games he had 94 points on 38 goals and 56 assists. He was a +18 with 13 power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, seven game-winning goals, and 65 penalty minutes. The New Jersey Devils drafted Thomson 96th overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Once his college season ended, he joined the Devils, playing in seven games at New Jersey and 11 with the Binghamton Devils. He would play in 11 NHL games over three seasons, recording an assist and finishing as a minus-four.

In 214 AHL games between Binghamton, Bridgeport, and the Utica Comets. Thompson had 85 points on 26 goals and 59 assists. He was a -61 with six power-play goals, four game-winning goals, and 234 penalty minutes. Thompson had his best AHL season in 2022-23, where he finished with 26 points on seven goals and 19 assists. He also played in 11 Calder Cup Playoff games, recording four points on a goal and three assists. He was a plus-one and had eight penalty minutes.
