All NHL Team Captains & Alternates Heading Into The 2023-24 Season

The 2023-24 season is upon us, and each team has their captains and alternate captains set. Currently, there are five teams that don’t have a captain. Some teams also don’t meet the minimum of two alternate captains for the regular season. At the same time, some other teams have more than three alternate captains but no captain. With some teams pending announcements for potential captains and alternate captains, the list below is accurate as of September 27, 2023. The list below shows the team captains and alternate captains and what season they took on their respective leadership roles.

Anaheim Ducks

Captain: Vacant (since 2022-23)
Alternates: Cam Fowler (since 2022-23,) Adam Henrique (since 2022-23,) and Jakob Silfverberg (since 2019-20.)

Arizona Coyotes

Captain: Vacant (since 2021-22)
Alternates: Lawson Crouse (since 2022-23) and Clayton Keller (since 2022-23.)

Boston Bruins

Captain: Brad Marchand (since 2023-24)
