Anaheim Ducks Extend Lukáš Dostál

Anaheim Ducks Extend Lukáš Dostál

This afternoon, Lukáš Dostál posted a video on the Anaheim Ducks X (Twitter) breaking his own contract extension. Dostál and the Ducks agreed to a five-year extension worth $32.5 million or a $6.5 million AAV.

Dostál took over the top spot in the net this season for the Ducks. John Gibson started the season injured, which allowed Dostál the opportunity. In 54 games, he went 23-23-7 with a 3.10 goals-against average, a .903 save percentage, and a shutout. He had the Ducks in striking distance of a playoff spot up until the middle of March. Due to Dostál taking over the reins, it made John Gibson expendable, which led to him being traded to the Detroit Red Wings during day two of the NHL Draft. The Anaheim Ducks now have their top goaltender extended.
