According to Elliotte Friedman, Anders Bjork will be heading to his third NHL team as he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks.
According to Tony Androckitis of Inside AHL Hockey, the future considerations are AHL player Carson Gicewicz. Gicewicz has played in over 100 AHL games and has tallied nine goals and 13 assists.
Bjork will be headed to Chicago for future considerations. The 26-year-old has had a difficult 2022-23 season, as he has spent most of the season down in the AHL. In 42 games with the Rochester Americans, Bjork has eight goals and 17 assists.
The 26-year-old ended up playing in 74 games for the Sabres and tallied just eight goals and six assists. He only appeared in one game this season for Buffalo.
According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, the Sabres promised Bjork they would find the 26-year-old a new home.
The Sabres acquired Bjork and a 2021 second-round pick in a trade with the Boston Bruins, including Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar joining Boston. Prior to the trade, Bjork played in 138 games for the Boston Bruins and racked up 16 goals and 23 assists.
Now a member of the Blackhawks, Bjork will be looking for a fresh start on a team that is rebuilding after trading Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers. The 26-year-old will also be hoping that he etches himself a role on the NHL roster in due time.
Buffalo is in the middle of a fierce battle for a Wild Card spot. Currently, they are 9th in the Eastern Conference but have four games in hand on the New York Islanders.
