Arizona Coyotes Shut Down Injured Conor Geekie for Remainder of Development Camp

Talk about a rough start to your pro career.

Conor Geekie, the 11th selection, acquired in a trade with the San Jose Sharks for the No. 27 pick and two second-rounders (No. 34 and No. 45) last week, was injured Monday after he was checked from behind during the opening day of Arizona Coyotes development camp at the Ice Den in Scottsdale.

As a result, the 18-year-old Geekie will miss the remainder of training camp due to a lower-body injury.

Said 13-year-NHL veteran Marc Methot:

Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong said that Geekie’s injury doesn’t appear to be serious. But nonetheless, that’s not how you want to start your tenure in the NHL.
