The Maine Mariners have re-signed forward Austin Albrecht for the 2023-2024 season. Last season, Albrecht spent time with the Mariners and the Indy Fuel. He also played in the SPHL with the Fayetteville Marksmen as well as with the Vermillion County Bobcats.

Albrecht made his Mariners debut on February 17th, scoring a goal against the Trois-Rivières Lions. A fun fact about Austin is that he is currently playing in the Australia Ice Hockey League during this offseason. Albrecht has currently played 13 games in the AIHL, scoring a tremendous 49 points (24G,25A).

Albrecht played two years of collegiate hockey at the University of Massachusetts and American International College. In 61 games at the college level, Austin scored 11 goals and 15 assists. Prior to coming to the ECHL, Albrecht played in the NAHL with the Wichita Falls Wildcats from 2013-2016, with his best year coming in his final season as he scored 60 points (26G,34A) in 58 games played.

Last season, among the four teams Albrecht played with, he scored 14 goals, adding 29 assists, which is good for 43 points in 60 games played. In the signing announcement, Albrecht said, “ I can’t wait to be back in Portland and play in front of the best fans in the league.” He then went on to add, “Last year, I got a taste of Maine and the city of Portland, and I can’t wait to be back-this time to finish the job.”

The Mariners will open their fifth season of the league on the road against the Lions on October 20th, with the home opener coming the night after, also against the Lions.
