Boneyard Buzz: Week Preview

On this Season of Savannah Hockey:

So far into this 2023-24 season for the Savannah Ghost Pirates, they have played nine games, winning three and losing six. The team has scored 23 goals and had 30 scored against them. To not much surprise, given that Darian Skeoch and Anthony Collins are on the team the Ghost Pirates already have a total of 127 penalty minutes. This team has very good potential to be a strong team and even make it to the playoffs this year. They just need to fight hard enough and want it bad enough. The team needs a win today against Greenville in order to create a winning streak since they won against Orlando on Sunday after losing to them at home on Friday. Sunday’s win was a shutout, and it was Michael Bullion’s second being with Savannah, which was a really good comeback after their 6-4 loss to Orlando on Friday.

Point Leaders:

  1. Vincent Marleau, with nine
  2. Robbie Fromm-Delorme, with seven
  3. Alex Gilmour, with four
  4. Brent Pederson, with four
  5. Simon Pinard, with four

The Ghost Pirates have gotten production from all over this season. However, Marleau, a predominant point leader from last season, is once again at the top in terms of points and goals; there are a lot of other players who have taken opportunities to score and been successful. Robbie Fromm-Delorme and Alex Gilmour are two newer faces to Savannah that have done well already and will continue to do so. Marleau leads with four goals, followed by Alex Gilmour, Brent Pederson, and Simon Pinard, all with three each. Once again, everyone is playing Follow the Leader behind Marleau as he also leads with five assists, along with Fromm-Delorme. Brandon Estes is close behind with four, followed by Elijah Vilio and Nolan Valleau with three each. Marleau and Brent Pederson were two of the only three players to score a hat trick during the inaugural season, but as far as this season goes, we will all just have to wait and see who will get a hatty. A lot of the new players have done a great job making good first impressions in Savannah this fall.

Phantom Preview

The Ghost Pirates have three home games this week – Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. For each of these home games, they are dressing as the Golden Ghosts in honor of their NHL affiliate having won the Stanley Cup last season. Thursday, they face the Greenville Swamp Rabbits; Friday, the South Carolina Stingrays; and Saturday, the Orlando Solar Bears. The Ghost Pirates have won both of your matchups against the Stingrays this season, have split the two games against Orlando, and have lost all four games vs Greenville.
