The Boston Bruins failed to reach the playoffs for the first time since the 2015-16 season. They fired Jim Montgomery early in the handover of the reins to Joe Sacco. Sacco will not be back as they handed things over to Marco Sturm, who will be the Bruins’ head coach for the 2025-26 season. The Bruins now pivot to the draft, free agency, and building the roster for next season. Today, they re-signed defenseman Mason Lohrei to a two-year, $3.2 million AAV extension. Lohrei this season had 33 points on five goals and 28 assists. He was a -43, had 16 penalty minutes, 16 power-play points, and 25 hits.
