Boston Bruins in the Four Nations Faceoff: Preview

The Boston Bruins have entered the Four Nations Face-Off outside of the playoffs. The last time the Bruins missed the playoffs was the 2015-16 season. With the Four Nations Face-Off starting tomorrow the Bruins will be represented by four players. Brad Marchand will play for Team Canada. Elias Lindholm will play for Team Sweden. Charlie McAvoy and Jeremy Swayman will play for Team USA. Their General Manager Don Sweeney will also be Canada’s General Manager.

Brad Marchand:

Marchand this season in 57 games has recorded 44 points on 20 goals and 24 assists while averaging 18:33 TOI. He has 11 points on the power-play with four of those coming as goals. Marchand has recorded a shorthanded assist. He has five game-winning goals this season as well. Marchand was seen on the third line at practice playing alongside Brayden Point and Seth Jarvis. Marchand and Team Canada will face Team Sweden tomorrow at 8:00 PM EST on TNT.

Elias Lindholm:

Lindholm this season in his first season with the Bruins has played in 57 games. He has recorded 29 points on ten goals and 19 assists while averaging 18:09 TOI. Lindholm has ten points on the power-play with one of those coming as a goal. He has recorded a shorthanded goal and two shorthanded assists. Lindholm posts a 54.1 faceoff percentage. He has two game-winning goals this season as well. He was centering the fourth line for Team Sweden today at practice. Lindholm had Viktor Arvidsson and Gustav Nyquist on his wings. Lindholm and Team Sweden face Marchand and Team Canada tomorrow night on TNT.

Charlie McAvoy:

McAvoy this season in 50 games has 23 points on seven goals and 16 assists in 23:40 TOI. He has just four power-play points this season with two of those coming as goals. McAvoy has recorded 81 blocked shots and 89 hits. He has 98 shots on goals this season. He has one shorthanded goal and two game-winning goals this season. At practice today he was paired with Zach Werenski.  

Jeremy Swayman:

Swayman got paid this offseason signing an eight-year extension with an AAV of $8.25 million. This season in 40 games is 18-18-4 with a 2.98 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage; he has recorded three shutouts. Out of his 40 starts half of them have been quality starts. Swayman, McAvoy, and Team USA play Team Finland on Thursday at 8:00 PM EST on ESPN.
