After a lackluster start to the regular season, Don Sweeney hasn’t been shy about making roster moves early this season. After signing Tyler Johnson to a one-year contract recently, Sweeney has placed Max Jones on waivers, assumably to assign him to the Providence Bruins.
Jones becomes the second forward in the Bruins bottom-six to hit waiver wires after Riley Tufte had cleared and been sent to the AHL.
Jones joined the Boston Bruins on a one-year contract this offseason, touting first-round pedigree and the need for new scenery. Jones wasn’t a superstar by any means, a bottom-six depth piece to plug and play. Unfortunately for Jones, he hasn’t been able to win a stable job in the lineup. Skating in four games for the Bruins without scoring a point, tallying 8 penalty minutes, 11:13 TOI, and a -4, leading to the waiver.
As Don Sweeney continues to mull over his options on the roster, one thing is clear: Don Sweeney is ready to shake things up.
