On Friday, Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced that goaltender Michael DiPietro, forward Vinni Lettieri and defenseman Jordan Oesterle have been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Providence of the American Hockey League. In order to send the three players to Providence, all had to clear waivers first and could be claimed by any organization.
The 27-year-old DiPietro has spent most of his career in the minors, both during his time with the Bruins and Vancouver Canucks’ organizations. Last season with the AHL’s Providence Bruins, the former Ottawa 67’s netminder posted an 18-9-2 record in 30 appearances with a 2.51 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage, and four shutouts. The Bruins recently claimed goalie Jiri Patera from the Canucks organization.
The 29-year-old Lettieri had five goals and nine points in 46 regular-season contests with the Wild in 2023-24. He is expected to be sent to AHL Providence, once he clears waivers.
Oesterle joined Boston on a two-year, two-way contract with the Bruins in early July. The 32-year-old blueliner played in 22 regaular season games for Calgary last year and recorded two assists and 33 blocked shots while averaging 13:31 of ice time.
The Bruins have one more preseason game Saturday in Washington and then will make final cuts to the roster on Monday.
