The Boston Bruins picked up a 7-2 win over the New Jersey Devils last night. Their AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, clinched a spot in the 2024-25 Calder Cup Playoffs and enter play tonight as the current third seed in the Atlantic Division. Providence is off tonight and won’t play again until Saturday when they hit the road to take on the Hartford Wolf Pack. The Baby Bruins will be without their leading scorer until most likely the start of the playoffs. Georgii Merkulov sat out Saturday and Sunday’s games after leaving Friday night’s contest with an injury. He suffered an upper-body injury after taking a hit in the third period of Friday night’s game. Merkulov this season has 54 points on 15 goals and 39 assists. He is a minus-one and two-power-play goals.

With the Boston Bruins eliminated from playoff contention, Fraser Minten, Fabian Lysell, and Vinni Lettieri will likely return to Providence soon and give the Baby B’s a full squad for hopefully a deep Calder Cup run.
