While Bruins Development Camp is now complete, many people have started deciding who disappointed and who impressed this week. Many would agree that Mason Lohrei was the top prospect, and others like Matthew Poitras and Oskar Jellvik impressed. However, there is one player some were moderately disappointed in, Fabian Lysell.

Lysell is a former first round pick in 2012, 21st overall. The immediate reaction and comparison was David Pastrnak, and the expectations of Lysell began to rise. Coming off an entire season in Providence, Lysell tallied 37 points in 54 games, having an overall okay season. The problem for Lysell came later in the year as Adam Clendenning concussed him via a blindside hit in the PBruins first round playoff series. The PBruins went on to lose that series, and Lysell never returned.
As Lysell turned toward the offseason, instead of preparing for Bruins Development Camp or the upcoming season to challenge for a Bruins roster spot, he needed to focus on recovery from his concussion.
While yes, Lysell didn’t impress or dominate in Bruins development camp, it is too soon to panic. Recovering from his concussion has been the priority, and he has yet to do much offseason training. Lysell now has the next couple of months to step up his training and prepare himself for Bruins training camp, where he will likely have a different showing.
Due to the slide in his ELC, if Lysell were to crack the Bruins lineup, he would be in the first of his three year entry level contract.
