Boston Bruins Prospect Taking Time Away From Hockey

Cole Spicer at Boston Bruins Development Camp

Boston Bruins prospect Cole Spicer has announced that he will be leaving the University of Minnesota-Duluth hockey club while taking some time away from hockey. Spicer was a fourth-round pick of the Bruins in the 2022 NHL Draft and had spent the last two seasons at UMD.

Spicer confirmed the decision to Matt Wellens of the Duluth News Tribune. He also added that he is done playing hockey for the foreseeable future to focus on some mental and personal matters. The 20-year-old center missed the second half of last season as he was declared academically ineligible.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward totaled eight goals and seven assists in 49 NCAA games and just completed a stint at Bruins Development Camp in early July. The Grand Forks, North Dakota native was the 117th overall selection in the draft and was a member of the United States National Development Program before committing to Minnesota-Duluth.
