The Bruins acquired Zellers on March 7, along with center Casey Mittlestadt and a second-round pick in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for center Charlie Coyle. The Maple Grove, Minnesota native might end up being the prize of the deal and is headed to the University of North Dakota in the fall.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound wing was a third-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft by the Avalanche, 76th overall. Zellers was previously a star with Shattuck Saint Mary’s Prep School before joining the Gamblers as a second-round pick in the 2022 USHL Futures Draft.
