The Boston Bruins recalled veteran forward Patrick Brown from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League on Thursday. Boston had sent forward Matt Poitras down to their AHL affiliate on Tuesday. The 32-year-old Brown is now the 13th forward on the Bruins roster and it is unsure if he will be in the lineup on Thursday night against the Dallas Stars.
Brown, who spent time in Boston and Providence last year, was named the captain of Boston’s AHL team this year. The Boston College product played 11 regular season games and three playoff games in the NHL last year.
In 12 games this season, Brown has three goals and four assists for seven points. The 6-foot-1, 209-pound right shot-forward can play center or wing has played in 149 career NHL games for the Bruins, Senators, Flyers, Golden Knights, and Hurricanes with 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points. The Michigan native signed with Carolina as an undrafted free agent in 2014.
Brown follows defenseman Jordan Oesterle who was brought up to the big club on Wednesday after a knee injury felled Hampus Lindholm in Tuesday’s win over the St. Louis Blues.
