Boston Bruins Recall Forward Fabian Lysell From Providence

The Boston Bruins are coming off a tough 3-2 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres last season. They managed to come away with a point which now has them at 69 points and three points back of the New York Rangers for the final wild-card spot. They are now about to embark on a five-game road trip as they will face Vegas, San Jose, Los Angeles, Anaheim, and Detroit before returning home to face the Washington Capitals. Ahead of the following road trip, they have announced that they’ve recalled forward Fabian Lysell and defenseman Michael Callahan from Providence of the AHL.

Fabian Lysell

The Bruins drafted Lysell 21st overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. For the 2021-22 season, he played for the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League. In 53 games he recorded 62 points on 22 goals 40 assists, and he was a plus-ten. He also played for Sweden in the World Juniors. In seven games he had six points on two goals and four assists. In 2022-23 he joined Providence playing in 54 games recording 37 points on 14 goals, and 23 assists, he was a -12. He also played for Sweden again in the World Juniors. In seven games he was held pointless.

Last season in 56 games with Providence he had 50 points on 15 goals and 35 assists and was a plus-six. This season in one game for the Boston Bruins he was held pointless and finished as a plus-one. In 51 games with Providence, he recorded 34 points on 11 goals and 23 assists. Lysell has four points in his last five games on a goal and three assists.

Michael Callahan

Callahan spent four seasons at Providence College playing in 138 games recording 66 points on 13 goals and 53 assists, he was a +23. In 2021-22 following his final season at Providence, he joined the Providence Bruins where he played in 15 games recording two points on a goal and an assist, he was a minus-four. In 2022-23 he played in 55 games recording eight points on a goal and seven assists, and was a minus-two. Last season in 70 games he had 17 points on four goals and 13 assists, he was a -14. This season he’s played in 11 games for the Boston Bruins and was held pointless and a minus-two. In Providence this season in 43 games he has eight points on a goal and seven assists and was a plus-four.
