The Boston Bruins signed a familiar face on Thursday. Cornell forward Dalton Bancroft was added to the mix after attending Bruins Development Camp in the past. The 6-foot-3, 207-pound left-shot forward inked a one-year entry-level deal that will carry an NHL salary cap hit of 950,000. The Ontario native will finish the season with Providence on an amateur tryout contract.
The 24-year-old went undrafted, Bancroft and registered 15 goals and 12 assists in 36 games for Cornell last season while playing with Bruin prospect Ryan Walsh, who was a 2023 sixth-round pick of Boston.
In 103 NCAA games with Cornell, Bancroft tallied 36 goals and 43 assists.
Before his time at Cornell, Bancroft was the MVP of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, at the same time, leading the league with 37 goals and 55 assists.
Bancroft was the second signing of the week after UMass center Dans Locmelis was signed on Tuesday. Both players will join the Providence Bruins for the remainder of the season. Dalton Bancroft’s contract will be for the 2025-26 season.
