The Boston Bruins have announced the signing of forward Alex Chiasson to a Professional Tryout Offer (PTO) on Monday. The agreement was announced by Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney.
The 32-year-old Chiasson is a Boston University alum who played 20 games for the Detroit Red Wings last season, scoring six goals with three assists. The Montreal native has played for seven NHL teams over 651 games. The 6-foot-4, 208-pound right wing had his best season in 2018-19 with Edmonton when he tallied 22 goals and 16 assists in 73 games.
For his career, the right-shot forward has four goals and three assists in 37 postseason games. The 2009 second round pick (38th overall) of the Dallas Stars will now compete for a spot with the Bruins in training camp. Chiasson is a power play specialist, with 30 of his 61 goals since 2018 coming on the man advantage.
