The Boston Bruins have announced the signing of free agent center Elias Lindholm to a seven-year, $54.25 million deal with an annual salary cap hit of $7.75 million per year. The former Vancouver Canucks forward has been on Boston’s radar for some time and fills a true need in Boston’s lineup. The Bruins have been searching for center help since the retirements of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, and Lindholm gives Boston a top-six center with a solid 200-foot game.
Lindholm, 29, played 26 regular season games with the Canucks during the 2023-24 season after being traded to Vancouver by the Calgary Flames as part of a four-team trade on January 31, 2024. In 26 games with the Canucks, the 6-foot-1, 202-pound right-shot center scored six goals and six assists and contributed five goals and five assists in 13 postseason games. Lindholm finished the season with 15 goals, 29 assists, and a 58.7 faceoff percentage in 75 total games.

The fifth overall draft pick in the 2013 NHL Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes has played 818 NHL games with 218 goals and 339 assists. This signing gives Boston a group of centers that includes Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha to go with Lindholm and potentially 20-year-old Matt Poitras. The Bruins entered the offseason with over $21 million in salary cap space before the signings of goaltender Jeremy Swayman and Lindholm.
